Welcome all December 2024 starters, and November and January starters too😊. As we're almost at the end of the first thread, I thought to start a new one before it finishes.

In the past decade or so, I've become increasingly intolerant of hot weather. Anything over about 24°C makes me feel physically unwell, and I dread heatwaves.

I'm curious to find out whether this summer will be easier for me, either from the weight loss itself or from the side effects of the medication (feeling the cold more should hopefully mean that I can tolerate the heat more easily?).

Same here.
I think being lighter can only help and MJ does make you feel the cold more so I have high hopes for coping better in a heatwave!

shrinkingthiswinter · 25/04/2025 16:28

I was somewhere very hot and humid in December and I couldn’t understand why my family were all making such a fuss about the heat. It seemed really nice to me, though I’d normally suffer in hot weather. I’d lost a few kilos but only like 4 or 5, so it must have been the MJ effect, but I didn’t know about it at the time.

Now I’m desperately looking forward to the summer, having been perishing cold ever since we came home. I have two duvets and two hot water bottles as well as DH and DDog to keep me warm at night.

Slimwannabe · 27/04/2025 14:19

I used to run very hot, but since MJ I am cold so often - should help make aummer more pleasant! Another 1lb off this week, so 2st10lb total in around 20 weeks. 1-1.5lb off a week seems to be my usual.

Hello @everyone you will maybe notice that all my posts have been removed 😅 it's because of the discount code issue last week and mumsnet moderators kindly deleted all my posts, as I understand it would have been asking too much to go and delete each specific code individually. They even offered to reinstate specific ones, but they've been kind enough as it is, so I'll leave it. I put all my stats every week anyway so I will repeat them soon. I hope you are all doing OK!

Hi LC4life - the medexpress code change of rules has been such a pain for so many of you. I think as the threads are fairly in 'real time' the old posts don't matter too much, although you do always write lovely supportive messages to everyone.

NotMeNoNo · 28/04/2025 20:20

I haven't posted much recently as my weight loss has been really slow! I've lost 9.5 kg since December but have been a bit too busy to track and exercise as much as I probably should have. I'm currently on 2nd month of 7.5mg.

What I'm struggling with is nausea. I've been physically sick the last 2 weekends, I think due to eating rich/heavy meals when out of the house. Last night it was the lunch I'd eaten at 1pm that had clearly been sitting in my stomach for 14 hours.

I'm trying eat smaller and plainer meals but wonder if anyone has had something prescribed for nausea? i found a few old cyclizine which helped on the worst days.

JunoRoma · 29/04/2025 06:40

SW: 107 kg
CW: 82 kg
GW: 75 kg

Total loss: 25 kg (4 stone!)
Next mini-goal: to get BMI below 30.

Goinghome20 · 29/04/2025 06:53

Amazing! Look how close you are to goal now @Juno! Youll soon be in the 20s BMI range🙂

How are you feeling now?

The past three weeks I've had no side effects, but also less efficacy unfortunately. I'm getting less satiety and starting to feel hungry 3 hours after a meal. It has been hard work to stay in a calorie deficit.

I stayed on 4.4mg this week as I'm going away at the weekend and can't afford debilitating side effects, but I plan to move up to 5mg next week.

OrangeDonald · 29/04/2025 10:22

@JunoRoma amazing loss. High five!

I am feeling a similar lack of suppression on 7.5mg but not ready to go up to 10mg yet. Youre wise to wait if youre going away.

MJ still gives me steady blood sugar so as long as I avoid sweet things I can wait for food so much more easily than before MJ even when not really very suppressed.

LC4life · 29/04/2025 20:46

@TrinityWaves Thank you very much ❤️

@JunoRoma That's amazing, well done on 25kg loss! You must feel so proud being so close to target 👏

@Goinghome20 That's why I went to 8.25mg as I definitely don't want to go to 10mg yet, but needed a bit more than 7.5mg. It could be an option maybe? 😊

Goinghome20 · 29/04/2025 21:34

Thats a good idea! I have 3 more doses in 7.5mg pen. So I could do one more then a 8.25mg dose. Ive been on 7.5mg for 5 weeks now..

How would I get 8.25mg from it using a syringe? Any maths whizzes out there.

JunoRoma · 29/04/2025 22:14

To get 8.25mg from a 7.5mg strength pen I calculate that you'd need 0.66ml, but double-check my working for yourself before actually doing this. A 1ml insulin syringe isn't really calibrated to this degree of accuracy.

Alternatively 8.25mg would be 66 clicks from a 7.5mg pen (e.g. 33 + 33, I'd suggest changing to a fresh needle and injection site in between).

@LC4life might be able to share how they have measured a 8.25mg dose.

LC4life · 30/04/2025 00:22

Hi @Goinghome20 , I agree with @JunoRoma's calculations 😊

I did 66 clicks of a 7.5mg pen to get 8.25mg. I have done this 3 times now, I think I did twice 60 clicks + 6 clicks, and once 33 + 33. I don't think it made a difference which way I did them.

If you were to use a syringe, then
0.66ml out of 7.5mg pen = 8.25mg.
As this would be quite difficult to get out as 0.66ml exactly,
0.7ml out of 7.5mg pen = 8.75mg as an alternative for a later dose maybe 😊

Goinghome20 · 30/04/2025 06:58

Thanks both of you.

I will do one more 7.5mg tomorrow, then next week go up to 8.25mg using the 66 clicks and 2 needles/sites ... and see if I can lose again on that small increase.

Dont have high hopes for a loss this week or next but if I want to see if I can maintain on 7.5mg. Like many of you I always said I would stay on the lowest dose I could. My friend has been going up wvery 4 weeks and has overtaken me and is losing 2kg a week! Shes doing great but struggles to eat.

i am at bmi 26 now and have booked a maintenance appointment at start of July. i want to give myself 2 months to get near there. My initial goal was 10st 5, a bmi of 24.8 so thats 11lbs to go....

TrinityWaves · 30/04/2025 10:32

WOW - Weigh on Wednesday day (yep, stole that off another thread I saw!)

End of week 22, now W23D01...
-1.6 lb this week
SW 263.4 (BMI43)
CW 203.8
TL 59.6 lb
Targets : <200 lb, 13 st (BMI30), 12 st (BMI27.7), 11 st (BMI25.3)

JunoRoma · 30/04/2025 12:49

@TrinityWaves great loss this week; sub-200 is so close!

CatRash · 30/04/2025 17:27

Oooh like the idea of WoW! I weighed myself this morning and down to 10st 8.5lb so 37lb lost since 08/12/2025. I think another 12.5lb will get me into the healthy BMI range where I don't think I've been since like 11yo 😅

Sticking with 7.5mg atm and sometimes push it back a day or two to eek the dosage out a bit. Or I just forget to take it 🤣

Goinghome20 · 01/05/2025 09:08

Wk22 D1

i lost a 1lb this week after all! 🥳
Cw 11.1

In the next fortnight I really want to see 10 on the scales...
10lbs to go and I will be a healthy bmi for the first time in 10 years
All the 10s!!!

I've been very lucky not to struggle with any nausea. Does anything like peppermint tea, or ginger help?

Slimwannabe · 02/05/2025 10:49

Congrats @JunoRoma and @TrinityWaves on the losses!

shrinkingfi · 02/05/2025 11:14

Stalled again, no loss for three weeks. I’ve lost 15kg since December, but another 20 at least to go, so a long way to go. Been on between 6.25 and 7.5 for 8 weeks now. Really suffer on the full 7.5 so reluctant to increase. Any tips anyone? V v frustrating!
