Welcome all December 2024 starters, and November and January starters too😊. As we're almost at the end of the first thread, I thought to start a new one before it finishes.

Oh wow @TrinityWaves that’s a major health milestone! Congratulations!!

TrinityWaves · 09/04/2025 11:44

Thank you.

Brilliant that you're doing the weights - I understand this is probably the number 1 thing you can do when you're dropping a big chunk of weight (along with protein).

Yes, physically everything is just so much easier. I do strength twice a week (just a quick blast at home) and this is getting easier to do now I'm lighter. I've now lost more than my youngest DC and she feels so heavy to pick up, it's absolutely mad I've dropped 20% of my original weight.
I've also suddenly had loads of people notice (as previously practically no-one had said anything).
It still feels like a mountain to go though with 3-4 more stone (or whatever I decide my goal weight changes to 😉).

Your daughter will keep growing and you will keep losing 😀

I haven’t posted for a while although I’ve continued on my MJ journey, so I thought I’d post an update.

I started on 1st December and did around 6 weeks on 2.5mg, then increased to 3.75mg for 4 weeks. I then moved up to 5mg and have stayed at that dose. It is still working for me with the reduction of food noise and appetite suppression so I don’t see any reason to move up.

Side effects wise, I have minimal. I get a dry mouth easily especially on the day I inject. I feel the cold
more and can sometimes have achingly cold toes. The worst is that I get dizzy when exercising which is holding me back from doing as much exercise as I need to be doing. I’m trying to do less cardio as that affects it more.

As of 2 weeks ago, I became officially overweight only (instead of obese) and that was a major achievement for me. My target weight was 13 stone (even though that is still classed as overweight) but now I’m approaching that, I’m keen to keep going but reluctant to set a goal weight just yet.

Anyway, thought I’d post a little update for anyone who may be interested. This drug has been a game changer for me and I feel lucky that I’ve been able to afford it. I’m looking forward to my family holiday this year and not dreading the activities we have planned or wearing my bikini in public.

SW 17stone (BMI 36.1)
CW 13 stone 12.8lbs (BMI 29.5)
TW not yet decided

Slimwannabe · 09/04/2025 22:49

Congratulations @TrinityWaves, you must be so pleased!

shrinkingthiswinter · 09/04/2025 23:04

Thanks for the update @DiggityDawg! It’s so encouraging to see so much progress!! Are you feeling lighter and fitter?

Slimwannabe · 09/04/2025 23:04

Things that I wish I knew before starting MJ:

Most protein yoghurts are rank
When in doubt, add tofu
Morning you will thank night you if you take a dose of pepto immediately when sulphur burps start
If the pepto fails, abandon diet and eat pasta
Don't try and watch TV while doing the walking pad - you will go a bit wonky
The first 25 mins on the walking pad are insufferably dull, but if you get to 30 mins the endorphins kick in and you could walk all day
Injecting with a tiny prick isn't actually scary once you've done it
Measure your bits
You'll become so obsessed with sushi you'll need to make it so buy a sushi mat
Going over your cals once in a while won't stop you losing weight

shrinkingthiswinter · 09/04/2025 23:07

Strong agree on the sushi!! I was absolutely obsessed with it for a while. Now madly into blueberries

I literally had no interest in it before! Now it's sushi sushi sushi! Luckily we have a Longdan nearby!

My fruit guilty pleasure is fancy grapes (cadyfloss, mango varieties etc) and those huge blueberries that you're sometimes lucky enough to get. Will be fighting the husband for the ones we get off the blueberry bush this year!

JunoRoma · 10/04/2025 08:05

I'm still enjoying overnight oats. I include some cold milled flaxseed for extra fibre and some vanilla whey powder to boost the protein. I add a bit of Greek yogurt and fresh fruit.

I'm currently feeling a bit evangelical about psyllium husks, which seem to be effective in preventing constipation. I also take a probiotic.

This morning, when I was mixing my collagen peptide powder (with magnesium citrate and hyaluronic acid) into my raw pressed juice 😂, I was thinking how pre-mounjaro me would find this completely unrecognisable and would wonder if I had been abducted by aliens and replaced with a wellness influencer.

JunoRoma · 10/04/2025 08:09

@Slimwannabe when you advise "Measure your bits" I'm guessing you mean bust, waist, hips etc rather than your actual bits? No judgement either way.

shrinkingthiswinter · 10/04/2025 08:26

@JunoRoma I'm glad you asked that because at idle moments I’ve been wondering HOW

Also, could we possibly have your more exact recipe for the oats? I’ve been thinking of trying. And I take a collagen pill, but is powder better?

JunoRoma · 10/04/2025 08:50

Add half a scoop of vanilla protein powder (I use PhD Whey) to 90ml of semi-skimmed milk and mix well. Add this mixture to one scoop (approx 45g) of oats and half a scoop (approx 15g) of cold milled flaxseed, stir well, and put in the fridge for a few hours.

This contains 280kcal, 18g protein, 6g fibre.

Add Greek yogurt (more protein) and fresh fruit (more fibre).

JunoRoma · 10/04/2025 09:01

@shrinkingthiswinter to be honest I'm not sure there's much evidence that taking collagen peptides make a lot of difference, but I'm willing to give it a try if it might help with skin elasticity. And it's extra protein.
I realise it isn't vegetarian, but needs must.

The one I take (Weider) contains 9.5g of collagen per scoop, which is more than you could fit into a pill. However, it has a slight taste which I find difficult to tolerate unless I mix it with juice.

shrinkingthiswinter · 10/04/2025 09:21

Thank you!!

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 10/04/2025 09:34

I've not taken any collagen and will be interested in people's feedback. Apart from bingo wings my skin has bounced back pretty much and at 54 it looks pretty good. The bit around my belly button where I have lots of old stretch marks is a bit crinkly but nothing that looks wrong for my age

Slimwannabe · 10/04/2025 10:00

As yet I've not had any loose/wrinkly skin except maybe slightly around the boobs (they've sadly deflated a bit). Am hoping the slow and steady rate of loss means the loose skin won't be too bad.

Slimwannabe · 10/04/2025 10:03

@JunoRoma I have become a person that eats chia! I actually willingly create a yogurt, chia and fruit slop bowl to consume every morning. 🤣

shrinkingfi · 10/04/2025 10:10

Bit squeamish on the collagen front so am into week three of the Ancient and Brave vegan version…well if it works for DavIna…I might graduate to the real thing. The unstuffed teddy look isn’t great!

shrinkingthiswinter · 09/04/2025 23:04

Yes I am, but I would say only in the last half a stone has it really made a difference to how I’m feeling in and about myself. But I’m definitely less sluggish and a little more agile, which feels nice.

BigTightropeWalker · 11/04/2025 14:56

@JunoRoma do you use just regular rolled oats?

BigTightropeWalker · 11/04/2025 14:58

Does moisturising actually help prevent/lessen loose wrinkly skin or is it just a temporary thing?

JunoRoma · 11/04/2025 16:21

BigTightropeWalker · 11/04/2025 14:56

@JunoRoma do you use just regular rolled oats?

I used Scottish porridge oats because that's what we had in the cupboard.

TrinityWaves · 11/04/2025 17:18

I'm guess the answer is no to this (as we're all still relatively early in the journey and most of us do the fifth dose) but has anyone been affected by the 12.5+15mg shortage?

TrinityWaves · 11/04/2025 17:24

Separately to this I've started on 10mg (although have to use up the 7.5 pens first!) and I'm so cravy at the moment. 7.5mg was amazing for 10 (?) weeks (I was firmly team green!) and now even on 10mg it hasn't made much difference. Very weird. Possibly AF due but you'd think the increase might counteract this. I'm staying in the calories but I thought as you lost weight you need less 😂

Slimwannabe · 11/04/2025 19:09

I've totally dropped off the wagon this week. Work has been insane the last few weeks with at least an extra day a week in unpaid overtime and I succumbed to a takeaway yesterday (first one since Christmas eve) and have been on the wine this week to cope with the stress. Exercise also gone out the window! If I don't gain this week it'll be a miracle!
