Welcome all December 2024 starters, and November and January starters too😊. As we're almost at the end of the first thread, I thought to start a new one before it finishes.

@Slimwannabe sorry to hear that work has been stressful. In terms of the healthy eating and weight loss, try not to worry about last week and just start each day afresh.

Slimwannabe · 11/04/2025 19:09

I've totally dropped off the wagon this week. Work has been insane the last few weeks with at least an extra day a week in unpaid overtime and I succumbed to a takeaway yesterday (first one since Christmas eve) and have been on the wine this week to cope with the stress. Exercise also gone out the window! If I don't gain this week it'll be a miracle!

One takeaway in 4 months is something to be proud of! Especially when youve been working so hard.

Look how far youve come. Just put it down as a blip and start afresh today.

glittermittens · 12/04/2025 10:01

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I posted in the group as I had surgery beginning of March so I had 4 weeks of no jabs. Back on MJ now, had to restart on 2.5 and I just took my first 5mg yesterday since restarting again.

Progress has been good even when I wasn't taking the jabs, I think I'm so used to making healthy choices now that I found it easier to keep it up, of course the food noise did increase again after 3 weeks of no jabs, but I'm pleased to say I am now 31.3lbs off since I started. So I've gone from 14.11.7 to 12.8.4, so so happy!

JunoRoma · 12/04/2025 11:49

Well done @glittermittens - it's good to hear that you've been able to resume so smoothly.

glittermittens · 12/04/2025 19:54

Thanks @JunoRoma. It's been easier than I thought having a break and going back on, it's weird though as I've had no nausea or headaches this time.

Slimwannabe · 12/04/2025 22:35

Thanks for the uplifting words all! Dreading weigh-in tomorrow but back on plan. Will be hitting the walking mat hard on the bank hols to compensate!

Slimwannabe · 12/04/2025 22:37

Wonderful news @glittermittens! How amazing that you were able to keep up the good choices, a happy insight into maintenance for you! I hope that your recovery has gone well, and good to have you back.

frogpigdonkey · 13/04/2025 08:40

Week 19 weigh and jab day
SW 15 stone
CW 12 stone 8
TW 9 stone

steady if unspectacular losses still- averaging just under 2lb a week since I started. Had a really bad time on my first 12.5 injection- extremely nauseous and could barely eat at all, felt shitty all week. Dropped back to 10 this week and that was better, so going to stay here for now.

mjjourney · 13/04/2025 09:20

Week 19 jab day
weigh days on Fridays showed a 2.2lb loss so a total weight loss of 37.24lbs :)
only 1.4lbs to go to get into the 11 stone bracket which I haven’t seen since 2016!!

still on 7.5mg with 2 jags left after today

@frogpigdonkeylooks like we are on the same week! Well done on your journey so far- I think im a slow responder at 1-2lbs off each week but I’m happy with that!

frogpigdonkey · 13/04/2025 09:34

@mjjourneyindeed! I look online at people losing a steady 4lbs a week but for a lot of people on here that 1-2 lbs seems more like the average. And with the exception of a few nausea bouts and the odd dicky tummy I haven’t had many side effects. Slow and steady wins the race! Well done on your losses!

glittermittens · 13/04/2025 09:59

Thanks @Slimwannabe good to be back, and yes a good insight into how maintenance could be.

I've woken up with the dreaded sulphur burps this morning, first time I've had these, hoping it is just for today. Has anyone else had these yet?

glittermittens · 13/04/2025 10:01

@mjjourney and @frogpigdonkey I'm 1-2 lbs a week too, this works for me as I'm worried about loose skin so think it's better to lose at this steady pace for me.

shrinkingthiswinter · 13/04/2025 10:28

Great to hear about everyone’s progress! @Slimwannabe like everyone else said, sorry to hear you’ve been under pressure, but sounds like you’re already bouncing back with plans for nice exercise.

0.65 kg off this week, bringing me to BMI 28.4 and a total loss of 19.5 kg or just over 3 stone.

I’m losing slower now, no longer a kg a week. Have been a bit frustrated by this, but trying not to be impatient. Not sure if I’m eating slightly more or if calorie needs are lower, or if its just slower anyway as get closer to healthy BMI. But it’s probably a good thing as my hair’s a bit thin at the front and I was feeling rather weak with low blood sugar and blood pressure.

I’m also eating plenty of protein and doing quite a lot of strength training, so it’s possible I’m even gaining muscle. Certainly I’m gaining strength and increasing my lift weights.

Looking forward to knocking off another half kilo to a total of 20kg loss, which is a nice round number and will take me to my first major goal, which I last weighed in autumn 2003. Then I’d definitely like to get rid of another 5kg, and maybe 10 to a BMI under 25.

But DH says I don’t look overweight for my age and build anymore, which is probably true, and I am certainly much lighter on my feet, moving about much faster and more comfortably.

Yep, for me they are usually the signifier that I'm gonna have a week with a dodgy tum! However, if I take a dose of pepto bismol as soon as the burps start it seems to nip them, and the potential dodgy tum, in the bud immediately.

Slimwannabe · 13/04/2025 12:55

W20D1 and I have gained a whopping 4lb, which is scientifically impossible (I didn't eat that much!) Going to chalk it up to water retention and hope that it drops off (and then some) next week.

My last week on 5mg, then up to 7.5 next week.

MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals · 13/04/2025 15:13

Hey everyone.

checking back in. Completely lost on what week I'm now on, but still on 3.75 with massive suppression.
Now 12s 9.5lb. That frustrating .5lb keeping me off two stone weight loss, but I've realised I'm just not stressed about food. I eat out, but don't gorge like I used to. I had my friend around last night as she'd helped me all week with some house stuff and I said I'd shout takeaway, but actually we both didn't fancy it and legged it to M&S and got some salmon and amazing salad & picky bits. (Edamame etc). It's a long slog, but my 5mg pen is doing me fab and if I carry on at 1lb ish a week loss I'm delighted.

glittermittens · 13/04/2025 09:59

Thanks @Slimwannabe good to be back, and yes a good insight into how maintenance could be.

I've woken up with the dreaded sulphur burps this morning, first time I've had these, hoping it is just for today. Has anyone else had these yet?

I had my first stint of sulfur burps in week 17 (my 4th week on 5mg) and had two further episodes the following week (having dropped to 4.4mg).

Each time they were accompanied by upper abdominal pains and then several hours of frequent watery stools. I was not happy, and haven't yet been brave enough to try 5mg again.

By the third time I had learned to take pepto-bismol at the first sign of it, and then only eat small amounts of very bland carbs (banana, porridge, plain pasta) until things settled.

JunoRoma · 13/04/2025 17:29

@Slimwannabe that will be mostly water retention, not fat.

I've been somewhat off track this weekend due to being off routine (school holidays and celebratory events). Today's lunch was macaroni cheese with extra cheese melted on top, and my afternoon snack * was a cookie the size of a side plate with chocolate mini-eggs in it. 😳 (It was at at a venue with limited food options and where you can't bring any food in)

  • In retrospect I wasn't actually hungry, I was tired and overstimulated.
Slimwannabe · 13/04/2025 18:02

Oh my god, mac and cheese sounds so good right now! I'm definitely due on as my stodge cravings are through the roof! I'm desperate for dinner having had blurerry pancakes and fruit for brekkie and chia, yoghurt and fruit for lunch. Oh, and some more fruit as a snack. I NEED SALTY GOODNESS!

glittermittens · 13/04/2025 18:53

Thanks @Slimwannabe and @JunoRoma I have ordered the pepto bismol from Amazon, it's coming tomorrow. Hopefully they will be gone by then though. I haven't had an upset tummy though, so fingers crossed it's just the burps.

Slimwannabe · 14/04/2025 08:58

Apologies in advance @glittermittens - it smells pretty awful. It doesn't quite taste as bad as it smells.

Slimwannabe · 14/04/2025 08:59

Gained another 2lb today, so I'm now 6lb up from when I weighed on Thursday and feeling so bloated and horrible. Wish my period would hurry up and arrive and deflate me!

itispersonal · 14/04/2025 09:07

well done everyone on keeping going and lots of you are having good journeys (with the odd side effect)

sw: 12st 7
gw: 10st 7
cw: 10st 6

starting MJ back in November - have lost just over 2 stone- still classed as fairly overweight as I’m short!

stopped taking MJ just over 3 weeks ago, as kept having to have time off due to side effect - 💩. But using the current weight loss as an inspiration to keep going. Upping exercise- doing bits of dumbbell exercise videos.

Quite happy as weight seems quite static and with it being the Easter holidays having days out with treats. I’m still logging foods, having a protein shake a day and have reduced carbs. Nighttime hunger has come back but having some nuts or qauvers etc. Also find going to bed early helps 😂😂

came off MJ also from cold turkey was at 7.5mg as friend who had been on it longer, is having a biopsy of her thyroid, so that’s scared me.

potentially may go back on it, it weight balloons but I’m not normally one for weight to increase by lots it’s a slow creep up but find it incredibly hard to lose weight!

Waymarked7 · 14/04/2025 20:13

Hi all, I'm onto my last 2 weeks of 7.5mg then that's me finished.

SW 90kg
CW 74kg
And BMI now 24.8 making me in the healthy category for the first time in probably 15 years. Super chuffed.

I've been going longer between my jabs and coping OK on the extra days so that gives me hope I will cope OK when I stop. Plan is to go cold turkey and see how I feel.

I really hope you all keep on doing the amazing job amd remember slow is fine. It's taken me 3 months to lose the last 5kg, but it's kept coming off tiny bit at a time. So keep going!

JunoRoma · 14/04/2025 20:36

@Waymarked7 congratulations on reaching your goal and the healthy weight range!

Well done to @itispersonal on keeping going with the healthy eating and exercise after stopping the medication.
