Thanks everyone, I'm off to the registry office tomorrow to register the death. My Mum will come with me.

I'm 88.4 kg, not quite Overweight yet. I've lost about 2.5kg since DH fell ill so a little faster than normal but not extreme.

InfoSecInTheCity · 21/04/2025 19:08

@SpottyBumPonyive been thinking of you, I hope you and your DC are doing as well as you can, please remember that if you ever need to vent, rant or just have a nonsense dialogue with a group of women who so desperately want to offer any support that we can, that we’re here, ready and willing!

I have had to deal with the deaths of both parents and wanted to offer a little advice which I hope won’t seem presumptions. Get at least 5 certified copies of the death certificate, lots of companies insist on the original documents rather than photos or scans and it helps to speed things along if you can have multiple out at once rather than having to wait weeks for them to be returned. Also remember to apply for any bereavement payments you’re entitled to. They can be very helpful in the early days while you’re waiting for paperwork to be sorted.(Bereavement Support Payment and Widowed Parents Allowance in particular).

sylv165 · 23/04/2025 13:13

Stayed the same this week, definitely feels like this last half stone is going to be slow going. But have been enjoying lots of buying and selling of clothes on vinted, feels quite good to have a clear out of the larger sizes. It has been a while since I’ve had a wardrobe full of size 10s! Planning for lots of exercise over the next few weeks to try and get things moving again, as I’ve really only lost about 2 or 3lbs in the past 6 weeks.

OvaHere · 23/04/2025 14:43

I've been in cold turkey maintenance for almost a month now. It's going okay and I've managed to stay within 3-4 lbs of my finishing weight. I've fluctuated between 9.11 and 10.3 but that's made no difference practically to fitting into clothes etc.

My appetite has crept back a bit but so far hasn't been the wanting to eat everything in sight that I feared. I definitely feel more hunger but one thing MJ has taught me is to sit with hunger and not reach into the cupboard at the slightest pang.

I can eat more in one go and finish a full cup of tea or coffee again. I'm having to be purposefully mindful of what I put on my plate - so Sunday lunch - veg and protein fine but no more than 1 or 2 roasties. Sharing a takeaway - sensible amount, there will always be other days and other takeaways so no need to eat loads in one sitting.

I've stuck to no snacking in an evening. If i've had a bit of a splurge, like over the BH weekend where we stayed with family and had meals out, then I'm consciously thinking about watching my diet for the rest of the week but not stressing over having had a nice weekend.

So early days still but I'm hopeful I can continue to manage without MJ as a crutch.

Sampler · 23/04/2025 18:31

I’m also selling a lot of my clothes on vinted. I’m keeping some back but I think it might be best to get rid of them so I can’t get fat again. I’m now a size 10 and I still can’t quite believe it. I do notice I’m a lot more agile - I was at the dentist and jumped off the chair after treatment in a shockingly deft move, ninja-like, plus I was wearing all black. The room was tiny so it was impressive. I also can mow the lawn without turning into a sweaty exhausted mess. There are so many small things that I never realised were due to my being fat for ten years. Another thing is I have more confidence, I never realised how much being bigger affected me - its quite sad in a way and in an ideal world it shouldn’t be like this - but it was for me.

I notice people’s attitudes to me have changed, again, shouldn’t happen but it does. Apart from all this I’m wrinkly as fuck but I can’t expect at my age to come away unscathed from losing 3+ stone.

I’m so sorry for your loss @SpottyBumPony ❤️

EBoo80 · 23/04/2025 18:51

@sampler that dentist story made me laugh. It’s true that I often feel a bit ‘get me’ about my agility now, and there aren’t many people IRL we can say that too without sounding like total tossers!

20bloodypounds · 24/04/2025 11:11

@SpottyBumPony I'm currently on holiday in a remote country with poor WiFi and I've just read your sad update. I'm sure you'll be getting a lot of useful support on your bereavement thread, but in case no one has mentioned, Child Bereavement UK are another good resource. Sending loving thoughts from a gentle Buddhist country ❤️

Good to hear updates from those who are in maintenance (with or without MJ). I'm close to the top of my goal range, although I'm aiming for 7lb below that to allow for fluctuations. For various reasons (heat, customs etc) I'm on a 2 week break from MJ. Doing OK appetite-wise, I think, however I'm also on a 3 week break from any scales and all food is provided so I've no idea about calories. There are loads of vegetable dishes (including ferns, wild asparagus, mollie radish and an assortment of mushrooms which are all in season) and I'm being careful with the carbs - one meal had rice and noodles and potatoes! I'm trying to trust my appetite and my judgement and fingers crossed🤞 that I'm getting it right. It's interesting how little I can trust my own feelings about my body. Sometimes I feel a bit more slender and other times I feel fat and uncomfortable. But I'm concentrating on having an amazing experience and only time will tell on the scales (when we are eventually reunited).

sylv165 · 24/04/2025 12:07

Sounds like you are having a lovely break @20bloodypounds!

I have just ordered a 7.5mg as my next pen which is quite a radical move for me. I stayed on 2.5mg for 3 months before moving gradually up to 5mg via counting clicks so I'm really throwing caution to the wind to try and get this last 7lbs off😂. I am also trying to get back to running 3 times a week as exercise has been a bit erratic lately, and doing some kettlebell workouts at home. I'm trying to build up the courage to join a gym so I can do the occasional class but haven't quite managed it yet!

MandarinDentistTiger · 24/04/2025 13:15

I think I'm going up to 10mg to see how I get on. I'm hoping it kick starts me from overweight to normal.

Itisallgoingtobeok · 27/04/2025 15:36

I was wondering if anyone has transferred from one supplier to Oushk for maintenance planning. I am a good few months from that point yet and have been with Boots all the way through, but am starting to think about it. Boots don't have a titration approach, and will just stop when I hit a BMI of 23 (I think). Whilst 23 is what I am aiming for, I think I may need some help with long term maintenance.

20bloodypounds · 27/04/2025 16:54

I moved to Oushk several months ago, for their flexible approach to maintenance. Not quite there yet, but I've been very happy with their service.

sylv165 · 28/04/2025 22:15

I have good news and bad news to report.

Good news: I bought a size 8 dress today and it only bloody fits!!!

Bad news: I have been feeling quite constipated over the past few days, and now I think I have developed piles 😩

Trying to decide if the size 8 dress outweighs the indignity 😂😂😂

InfoSecInTheCity · 28/04/2025 22:43

@sylv165unfortunately piles were one of the gifts pregnancy bought me a decade ago. Thankfully so far they haven’t caused too much of an issue, occasionally a little discomfort and bleeding but nothing life changing (fingers crossed, knock on wood, salt over shoulder and every other superstition to not jinx myself).

sylv165 · 28/04/2025 23:08

Sorry for your suffering @InfoSecInTheCity, but it is reassuring to know I am not alone 😂

SpottyBumPony · 29/04/2025 07:42

Fellow 🍇sufferer here, the combo of weight and pregnancy in my case. If I set them off they can be sore but with a few days treatment they then feel OK, but it's a deep ache when I've damaged them and sitting down can be difficult. I've learnt to recognise when they are feeling irritated and be proactive before one tears.

I recommend suppositories or bum rockets as my friend named them

sylv165 · 29/04/2025 09:42

@SpottyBumPony they can tear 😱😱😱?! Dear Lord, this is worse than I thought 🤣. How are you holding up? I’ve been thinking about you xx

StanleyCup · 29/04/2025 16:24

Just doing my monthly check in for all.

I am back on the Mounjaro after coming off two months cold turkey. Honestly once it was out of my system the food noise came back strong and i have been bingeing again. I think I've put on 4lbs or so and i cant carry on with that trajectory as that means a stone in 4 months. Sometimes the water weight has been crazy.

I relented, ordered another pen and started at 2.5mg last night.

For me i was doing okay when i was eating no sugar, no processed food and very low carbs but the minute i had anything it would be like an addiction and result in 3-4 days of bingeing. I cant do that to myself so have gone back to Mounjaro to give me a few months to lose some more weight and also try and conquer my binge eating. Planning to stay on 2.5 as long as possible.

i don't know what my current weight on the scale is as i have no courage to face it, but i started cold turkey on 10stones exactly. My goal weight over all is 9.5-7.

Im disappointed but also feel more in control.

sylv165 · 29/04/2025 18:44

I have just confessed to one of my friendship groups that I’m on Mounjaro. Apart from DH and one other person who is also taking it, I haven’t told anyone else so it feels very strange to be sharing it. But a couple of others in the group have started WLIs recently so the chat is all about it and it just feels a bit disingenuous to keep lying about it.

Will still never tell my family as my mum is very much in the “death jabs” camp and just wouldn’t understand, but I guess it is nice that I have one group I can be a bit more open with now.

20bloodypounds · 01/05/2025 15:12

Thank for posting @StanleyCup Do you think you need more time to 'reset' your habits, or do you think you might be on a low dose for a long time? (Personally, I am open to either option).

I think your post is a good example of why it's important to use a supplier who will be flexible.

sylv165 · 02/05/2025 15:40

I’m wavering on maintenance @20bloodypounds. I think I’m going to stay on a low dose at least until September and see how that goes. Then I’m definitely open to keeping going a wee bit longer, even if I start spacing out the doses a bit. I don’t really want to be on it forever, but I do want to get my body really used to being this size and eating less, and give me more time to build muscle through exercise which is a real weakness of mine.

SpottyBumPony · 02/05/2025 16:23

So good to see lots of people getting closer to their goals.

I've stalled at 13'13 for 10 days or so, I know it's not long really but it feels like it. Keep on keeping on.

Life wise ... I'm worried about money a lot, DH was the bigger earner so I've got a hole to fill. DS is finding going to school hard, he's mostly OK when he's in but he refused to leave the house when my Mum was taking him in the week. I had a good call with school today and they are being really good at making sure he has a comfortable way to start the day.

In other news I've been really horny and had a mad fantasy about a co-worker the other day 😳

InfoSecInTheCity · 02/05/2025 17:18

Hi @SpottyBumPony, good to see you and glad you’re doing as well as can be expected. Money wise, did your DH have death in service benefits at work?

stress can play havoc with weight so it’s not surprising you’re having a bit of a stall, you create additional cortisol which causes weight gain and retention.
