Hello! Can I join please :) I started Saturday 2nd november. Will be taking my last dose of 2.5mg this Saturday and I think I'm going to go up to 5mg. Side effects been minimal for me touch wood. I tend to get super tired and have a banging headache on jab day but that's about it. I'm drinking 3l a day and taking supplements however so that could be helping. I'm finding the suppressant effect weaning now however which is why I plan to increase my dose after next week. Looking forward to sharing my journey and hearing everyone else's.

For context :

Height: 5ft 7"
SW: 14st 7lbs
CW: 14st
GW: 10st 7lbs (i haven't been this weight in about 10 years)

imanidiotsandwich · 18/11/2024 10:05

Hi checking in
Wk 4
SW 11st 2
CW 10st 7 1/2
Took my week 4 2.5mg jab yesterday
Have got the 5mg pen already but I'm not going to take the full dose as my suppression is good with the 2.5.

No longer craving Coke Zero - previously would have a couple of cans a day - now I barely finish 1.
Alcohol consumption is practically 0 as well.
Had 1 glasses of champagne with lunch yesterday and had a huge headache almost immediately.
I have to remind myself to eat
I'm not seeing food and snacking, so if there are biscuits and treats around I'm not tempted to eat them at all.
Fizzy drinks make me feel really bloated
Started to have a bit of constipation so adding some chia to my daily diet.

I'm sleeping more - once or twice I've gone to bed at 8pm which had been great.

I heard someone that if you are waking up in the night between 4-6 it's probably due to low blood sugar. This makes sense from when I did the CGM for two weeks it would show a huge dip around this time every night. So I do try to eat something before bed. Nuts mainly.

I'm the same SW and also type 2 👋

It's my 50th next Monday, so I'm delaying starting until DH has put his hand in his pocket for my birthday lunch and I've had a glass or two of the champers I was given last Christmas and have been saving for my Big Birthday.

McZeba · 18/11/2024 10:48

W2 D4 - I can eat what I like but I don't 'fancy' anything. First weekend in years without drinking alcohol and really had no desire to do so. Slight constipation but sorted with veg and fluids. Feeling the loss of weight in myself, which makes me feel positive x

Bellavida99 · 18/11/2024 10:59

I did my second injection yesterday. Lost 1.5kg in week one so pleased with that. Yesterday and today I’ve been hungry though. I’m pretty sure I did injection correctly so not sure what’s happened - help please!

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 18/11/2024 11:40

NoOneAtTheInn · 17/11/2024 19:05

Would love to join you. Started yesterday after thinking about this for maybe 9 months. Saw a few awful photos, realised I am as heavy as I was when I was pregnant with first child, and bit the bullet.

Starting weight 172lb. Target weight 149lb would be amazing. But let's face it I'd just be happy back in the mid 150s where I keep getting to and then losing my way.

I am feeling strange today, like hungry but not hungry. I guess it's nausea. Need to take something for it as it's making me a bit grumpy. I think the whole thing has me stressed out. Hopefully won't last and will be a bigger deal in my head than reality. I think I just feel like I've failed as I've been dieting for years and years and it's just a doom loop. But I need to do something as my confidence is so affected. So here I am to join you. Promise my future posts will be more positive.

Well done for getting started NoOneAtTheInn and welcome! 👋 You’re in good company here, we’re a small army of diet veterans! 😁 I hear you and also been there with the doom loop. It really started impacting my mental health badly and made each new diet effort harder and more short lived with smaller losses to show for it (and quick regains).

I’m so glad to have started on MJ! It really is a game changer and even mentally - even only 2 weeks in, I no longer feel guilty around food, secretly eat or binge, which is a massive load off. A relief really, as I just kept failing my own attempts even when ‘lowering the bar’ to try and stay on track and getting down when it all went to poop. I’ve lost 9lbs so far and without all the food noise and stress around eating, or guilt, v happy with that!

The initial stress you described, like being in your own head with it all I just want to encourage that I found that it faded quickly and began to feel quite natural as you get used to the feeling and also it starts to feel more automatic. Kind of like when learning to drive you are very aware of being inside the car, your cabin environment and all the controls and pedals, mirrors etc but then you become less conscious of the internal workings and it driving feels like second nature. Sorry that is probably a rubbish analogy! 😂

Wishing you and all of us all the very best going forwards and downwards 🌸

DarkForces · 18/11/2024 11:47

Completely agree. I know we're not meant to call it a miracle drug but I've found it transformative. I don't have the screaming hunger pangs that started last time I started to lose weight, I've completely gone off alcohol and am fine eating 3 small meals a day. Side effects are minimal now I'm on week 2. Couldn't be happier with it

Hi all, can I join. W1 D1 for me after jabbing this afternoon.
SW 13st 8
GW 10st 12

Have previously tried to lose weight using Mysimba but had to stop as the nausea was so awful. Praying this isn’t quite as bad.

Hi emma6776 and welcome too! 👋 and another 👋 to any other new joiners I’ve missed :)

Happy Monday everyone!

W4D1. Weighed myself this morning and I’ve lost a pound, taking my total loss so far to 7lbs. Nothing like some of the other amazing losses on here but I keep telling myself I’m half a stone lighter than I was 3 weeks ago which is still pretty amazing! I can feel the difference in my clothes and also in myself.

I’ve just taken my 4th dose. My suppression has been very light so far (and hardly any side effects apart from fatigue). There was plenty left in the pen so I used a syringe to add an extra 0.3 / 0.4ml to bring it to around 3.75 / 4mg hopefully… a transition ahead of next week.

Here’s hoping I don’t end up with lots of additional side effects now!

Here’s to another week and hopefully a few more lbs off towards my goal!

MsRumpole · 18/11/2024 11:59

Odfod · 18/11/2024 08:15

Thank you. Mrs Rumpole. I'm going to put on my positive pants and embrace this - sulphur burps, constipation et al!!

Ok so... deep breath:
W1D1
Starting weight : 15.10
Goal weight: 10:4

Ere we go!!

I don't think I have put mine down! They are distressing:

SW: 151 kg
CW: 151 kg
TW: 127kg

(Ultimate goal is more like 85kg but I will see how I do as get closer)

Hi would it be ok if I join this group? I have the first injection sitting in my fridge and I'm scared to start. I have a big night planned for Saturday so considering holding off until after that... will the medication still be ok next week?

I'm 41 and hoping to lose 2-3 stone over the next 6 months. I have been gradually gaining over the last ten years, and seem to have no motivation to get control over my eating. I have had disordered eating for most of my life and have been guilty of eating in secret since I was a child. I managed to get into a good weight and fitness routine at 18 and stayed slim until my thirties. But children, stressful job, and a lack of time or energy to exercise have culminated in my weight ballooning. I've been considering trying Mounjaro for months and have finally given in and ordered it. But I do feel scared of the side effects and extreme shame for not being able to lose weight on my own. my husband would never approve of me taking it!

Ooo let us know how you get on Goldleafcat am think of doing the same with dose 4.

Can I ask where you got your syringe and needles from? and is it straightforward to draw out the remaining liquid using them?
I guess you still have to prime by holding the syringe upwards and pushing out a drop or two first before injecting? (To get any air out)

Hi and welcome lostinchaos! 👋 this is a lovely supportive thread and you’re in good company :)

I had a similar decision as we had a family get together at the weekend and my pen arrived on Tues.

I decided to go for it in the end and not wait until after the weekend event as I was really keen to get started and figured it at least gave a few days for any side effects to settle (or find ways of managing them). I’m really glad I did as the side effects weren’t too bad and actually the medication helped me not overeat at the family meal. Also having the dose 4 days before the event I found the suppression wasn’t too strong so I could still join in with some of the food

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo

I ordered the syringes from a medical supplies company I saw recommended on another MJ thread -

https://www.shdmedical.co.uk/needles/bbraun-omnican-1ml-30g-syringe-individually-blister-packed/

I also ordered some swabs whilst I was there!

Needle worked really well, though it is longer than the MJ pen needle.

Very straightforward - I put the needle into the red bit of the pen to draw it out. Then did the priming as you say.

I had to inject myself in the tummy after surgery a few years ago and it was very similar.

Going forward I’m planning to use them to get the ‘bonus’ dose to save some money. Will see how I get on with 5mg.

BBraun Omnican U-100 1ml 30G Insulin Syringe (Individually Blister Packed)

The BBraun 1ml Omnican syringes have been designed with a fixed needle for subcutanous administration of medication, particularly insulin.  They...

Well done on your loss.

I'm going to top up my 4th dose similarly on thursday. Was it easy to do. I've bought syringes from Amazon in readiness.

jay55 · 18/11/2024 12:41

No loss this week, usually id be annoyed as I've been in deficit all week but I was up 2kgs in the middle of the week so getting that off and back to last weeks weight is a win.
The suppression lasted longer this week, weekend was easier.
4th 2.5 today.

Thanks to whoever mentioned a little of what you fancy on the previous thread.
That's how things were working well for me previously on saxanda and I need to get back to that on this. I've watched too many videos of people who are essentially trying to sell supplements and been too focused on protein and not focused on what is sustainable for me long term.
Recalibrating portion sizes, enjoying meals, understanding what satisfied feels like and remembering for me the goal isn't losing the weight, it's keeping it off. Is all so key to me. So I've had a big mindset change and am feeling a lot more positive and my gut isn't aching.
Massive thanks.

And well done to everyone sticking with it or starting this week,

lostinchaos · 18/11/2024 12:44

Thank you for the kind welcome!

Have any of you experienced any significant side effects from drinking alcohol? Obviously I'm not planning to regularly drink but my event this weekend is one where we definitely will... my friends may start assuming I'm pregnant if I don't! Smile

NearlyNewHip · 18/11/2024 12:58

I've been drunk on 2.5. Stuck to singles (gin and s/line tonic with a dash of lime squash), politely declined shots and was fine (well..... normal hungover....) had about 6

Goldleafcat · 18/11/2024 13:30

@Dreamqueen Thank you.

It was pretty straightforward, from what I’ve read it’s probably a better method than the ‘hard twist’ method to get more out of the pen. Just be sure to prime etc as with the pen.
