I've just done my bonus dose, it was really easy. I just twisted it around a bit harder than normal all the way to 1, jabbed it in, twisted it again and did the rest. I got about 2.9mg.

Is everyone going straight up to 5mg? I was hoping for a bit more in the bonus, but don't think it's worth cracking the new pen for a tiny bit extra. I might try and do 4mg next week.
Will weigh tomorrow, as I did it a day early to fit in better with weekends.

Did you change the needle for the second jab?

Goldleafcat · 28/11/2024 09:56

Met a friend for drinks last night which was lovely (no alcohol suppression here! Whoops) and we had a good chat about weight. I lamented how my wardrobe is bursting at the seems with stuff I can no longer fit into. She recommended I get rid of the majority of it and only keep 3 items in each size. I was appalled 😂

(Especially as a lot of it fitted me only last year, it’s not like it’s from 20 years ago!).

I am going to have a bit of a purge, but the idea of selling it / giving it all away feels very defeatist. Like I’m giving up on the happier, thinner me.

It’s made me determined to lose the weight now!

Demjay · 28/11/2024 10:09

Hi All,
for those finding the weight is not coming off, I know this has been said before, but I just wanted to reiterate that the 2.5mg isn't even a "proper"/ therapeutic dose.
I think the clinical trials results were all based on a dose of at least 5mg, and most 10mg or 15mg?
I think this can get lost sometimes with all the amazing stories of exceptionally fast weight loss just on the 2.5mg, but I'm not sure this is really the norm/ how the medication is supposed to work...?
For myself I have wondered how much of my "success" so far has really been down to a placebo effect tbh...
Anyway, I know this has all been said before, but just wanted to post a reminder :), as I think sometimes its easy to forget that losing much weight on 2.5mg is a bonus and not really the norm/ expectation.
xx

Dreamqueen · 28/11/2024 10:21

Week 5 injection day. Weighed this morning and I'm 2 lbs heavier than this time last week 🥲. I'd upped to 5mg last week and I know I've averaged under 1300 calories a day all week. Before MJ I'd be giving up now but I'm still motivated to continue.

We hear you - and we know this!!

If you read carefully you will hear us all saying that we know we're getting some effect from the MJ as it is helping us stay in a calorie deficit and we're not as hungry.

The issue is that it's the calorie deficit that isn't working. 😂

I'd be just as pissed off if I wasn't on MJ - if I was eating 1500 calories a day and not losing any weight.

If I was eating like a bloody pig and expecting MJ to a be magic fat-melting jab and I didn't have to put in any work - that would be fine, and worth the slightly patronising reminder about 2.5mg being a starting dose.

But I'm not eating like a pig. I've eaten an average of 1300 calories for the last 3 days, and if I look at the last 4 days, an average of 1500. And nothing has come off this week at all!

I'm keeping positive though and hoping that it has a bit of a whoosh before I weigh in properly on Saturday!

Oh gosh sorry, I was actually aware when writing that that it could come across as patronising, and was really trying to avoid that :(.
It was more for myself and lurkers really, as I find myself a bit confused about all the stories on social media about insane weight loss on 2.5mg.. So I think it's good to balance them out.
Anyway sorry for the offense it wasn't intended :(.

I can totally see how that's depressing if you are eating less, of course :(.
I guess the only thing on that is that weight is a weird thing, and there's the whole thing of building muscle vs burning fat, and also I often find that the scales stubbornly stick for a few days and then suddenly a load comes off with no warning (don't know if this is hormones/ cycle/ water, or god knows what) - so could be a factor too.
Anyways I'm very sure you know all this as well and don't need me telling you so I'll shut up now!!! 😂

It did make me feel a bit better 😀

Holding out hope for epic suppression on my higher doses when I get there! Wondering if maybe it’s a good thing I’m tolerating it so well with very little side effects so far - maybe a good thing for longer term use to help me drag myself to my ultimate goal.

HammerbarnSausage · 28/11/2024 10:42

AlwaysTimeForWine · 28/11/2024 07:57

That doesn't sound too tricky.

So did you twist to 1 and do the 'usual' dose and then twist again to do extra - whatever was left?

I've not decided if I'm going to do the extra/bonus 2.5mg dose. Or use a syringe to get the rest out and increase the dose a bit using whatever is there. I'm going to see how I feel at the end of week 3.

Because I've still found myself a bit hungry I might increase up to 3.75 and do it that way. I can't deal with horrible side effects - I work in a school and it's tricky.

Yes, you can't dial it past 1, so if there is some left after the jab just dial it up again and jab until the plunger is at the end. I dialed it to 30 clicks so I could track how much was left, (12 clicks).

HammerbarnSausage · 28/11/2024 10:44

November2024 · 28/11/2024 09:29

Did you change the needle for the second jab?

No, I did it all in one jab. If I pulled it out after the first, I would have change it though.

I hear you!!!

I have some lovely lovely clothes in my wardrobe and this feels like my chance to get back in them!! I'm not chucking them away yet. Some - like you - are quite new and only a year or so old. I probably only need a stone off and I'll fit in them!
Which is exciting - like having a new wardrobe again. 😍

AlwaysTimeForWine · 28/11/2024 10:48

@Demjay Don't worry - it was just me being sensitive!!

You're right though - I'm astonished by the number of people who have huge losses in their first weeks, and I do wonder if they have made some pretty drastic lifestyle/food changes and so that's why they see bigger losses.

I wonder if you eat fairly well already, exercise, and just drink too much wine or have peri-menopause to blame, the changes are more subtle and so it will be slower.

November2024 · 28/11/2024 11:12

HammerbarnSausage · 28/11/2024 10:44

You must have nimble fingers! I am going to try your method tomorrow so 🤞I have an insulin syringe at the ready just in case.

Goldleafcat · 28/11/2024 11:21

Definitely! Thinking about being able to wear them again is exciting. I need to maintain a positive mindset.

If I can shift a stone I will have so many more things to wear too. An excellent incentive.

I still have a handful of items from when I was 12.5/ 13 stone which I’m holding on to for posterity - I really need to get back there (and beyond really - I need to be 11 stone to scrape into healthy BMI weight). Good luck to us all!

Goldleafcat · 28/11/2024 11:22

Sorry that was for @AlwaysTimeForWine

JasonTindallsTan · 28/11/2024 11:34

So it’s ‘official weigh day’

SW - 16st 7.8lb (14/11/2024)
CW - 16st 1.4lb (last week 16st 2.6lb so only a 1.2lb loss this week ☹️)
GW - 10 stone. Feels a million miles away at this point.

Today is my birthday as well as next jab day so I will almost certainly go over my cals with cake and a Chinese but I’m going to try not to overeat for the sake of it. Third jag tonight after the festivities.

StarShapedWindow · 28/11/2024 11:40

I was disappointed in my 2 pound a week weight loss. I’ve lost 2 pounds every week so far (into week 6 now) - reading about lots of people loosing 5 pounds plus was amazing - I couldn’t imagine such a big weight loss. But the way I see it is I’m very short and I have a small frame, my body really doesn’t need many calories so I guess I have to learn or retrain myself about how much food I actually need. Also I used to work for a diet company who were convinced on the weeks you didn’t see weight loss you could still loose inches - not sure if this is nonsense - I’m not organised enough to measure myself weekly.
I did try eating much less on the second week to see if I could speed things up but annoyingly I still lost 2 pounds.

BleachedJumper · 28/11/2024 11:51

Happy birthday @JasonTindallsTan Cake I hope the birthday cake is lovely!

stepped on the scales this morning for a mid week weigh in, a quarter of a pound up on Monday morning but I’m not too perturbed by that, I need to get my constipation in check!

We go away on holiday the first week of January, and I’d love to lose 5.5lbs between now and then to get into a the lower stone bracket. I’ve definitely reached the stage now where I need to be happy with 1lb a week losses, and bloody ecstatic if it’s two!

Me too - can’t wait to be able to wear everything that doesn’t currently fit!

TrinityWaves · 28/11/2024 12:17

I started yesterday (27th) - has anyone else lost their taste memory? So my normal default is craving junk food and mentally picturing the taste (and then eating it!) - this morning it's like I can't picture what chocolate etc actually tastes like anymore?
