This Thursday is week 3 for me and I have lost 11lbs. I can’t believe it, I feel so much better in myself! 5mg is ordered and approved and on its way for me to see how I get on with that. I’ve had zero negative side effects and long may it continue! If anybody has tips on how not to bruise myself with the (absolutely painless) needle that would be appreciated!!

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 19/11/2024 20:10

W2D5 and I'm feeling no suppression at all now. Had some around day 3 but now nothing that I can tell.

I had a curry last night and tonight I'm feeling really picky.

Anyone else find it harder/less effective week before your period?

Does anyone else feel really nauseous after anything remotely rich? I can’t even eat soup made with a coconut milk base 🫤

Not so far, but I had my 2nd dose this morning and by this evening I found I really, really didn't want the glass of wine a colleague brought me. I kind of politely sipped a bit and ended up leaving it - which VERY unlike me, I liove a glass of red in the winter!

Suppression has happened quite fast this time round. I have a slightly metallic taste in my mouth but I think it's a sign I need to drink more water.

TeenLifeMum · 19/11/2024 20:59

Stupid question alert: when you order your next pen, what happens if you’re no longer obese? I’ve moved into the overweight category but I assume now I’ve started I’ll be able to continue until I’m at a reasonable/healthy weight?

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 19/11/2024 21:01

Hi do you think it would be ok if I took jab 3 tonight? My normal jab day is tomorrow night

Had no suppression today which was ill timed with a v hard and stressful day/ evening, had huge plateful for dinner (first since started this) and followed with fudge as just feeling stressed and rotten today. Suppression waning by day 4/5 and disappeared by day 6 seems to be my pattern, at least on the starter dose.

What do you think, shall I take it tonight so I can get tomorrow better on track?

I notice some people are having a lot more suppresion than others. Im post menopausal and have tital supression on 2.5mgs. I just chucked my dinner in the bin, couldnt eat it.
Is it the premenopausal ladies who have less resistance. Id love to know.

I’m 42 and no signs of menopause yet. Suppression was instant for me (within a few hours). I’ve not eaten chocolate since Saturday and don’t feel cheated. It’s like my brain has been rewired to eat normally and want veg. (Disclaimer: I’m only 3 days in)

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo i was talking with my work friend, who’s the only person other than dh who knows I’m doing this, and she has 2 days each week when the suppression lifts but she’s said these are her test days to train her so when she comes off she knows she can keep control. Maybe challenge yourself to stay away from snacks and plan tomorrow’s healthy meals.

MsRumpole · 19/11/2024 21:17

I'm on Day 4 of 2.5mg and have been able to eat a bit more than yesterday but am now feeling absolutely stuffed. Was convinced I had binged unforgivably but have just added what I had up and it's 1500 calories for the day. You might be pleasantly surprised at how much less you've eaten than you think!

I think it will be fine as long as you leave a minimum of 72 hours between jabs you can inject again.

how do you plan to go forward; 1) injections every 6 days 2) increase dose and go back to every week?

I wouldn't - if you keep doing that your doses will just get closer and closer together. I'm bracing myself for extra effort on the last couple of days this week but reminding myself that even if I eat a lot more on those two days I will still have eaten a lot less over the week as a whole than I used to.

piscofrisco · 19/11/2024 14:05

Just done 2nd injection of 2.5. Still not sure I'm doing it right. Seemed to take ages to see the 0 in the window whilst depressing the knob. Worried I've od'd myself.

Now anxious again to see if the side effects will show up.
Actually I've been very anxious in general all morning and quite hungry, which may all be in the mind, as I knew my 2nd jab was due this morning.
No weigh in as still don't have replacement scales Confused but clothes feel a bit looser I think and that's good enough for me.Typically any weight I have lost comes off first where I don't want it to (face and boobies) and last where I do, (huge apron belly). It's always been the way. Very annoying.

Hey piscofrisco apron here too and yup, what I have lost so far has come off face and boobs! 🙈 am hoping hips and tum will catch up, don’t want to be a size 10 up top and 20/22 below! Don’t want to be a Hey Duggee chicken!!

Oooh I like the idea of that. Food for thought if you would excuse the pun.

Has anyone found their menstrual cycle has gone a bit awry? I had a random gain in my second week which I initially attributed to my period coming a few days early (some blood) but then there has been nothing since and it’s quite a bit overdue now! I can’t be pregnant (been a few months since I’ve been vaguely ‘romantic’ and have had several of my usual extremely heavy periods in the interim) (joys of fibroids). I’m 44 though so it could be peri menopause raising its head.

(It wouldn’t be implantation bleeding - months since sex)

Mine is missing in action too Goldleafcat! I am 43 so was thinking the same, could it be down to peri? I have a GP apt tomorrow and was going to ask about it then and if they don’t know I have my first coaching session with Voy on Thurs and will ask them. Will report back!

Hi guys, I started MJ on Sun evening. Took 4 rounds of psyching myself up to do the jab. Eventually chilled the skin with a pack of peas and it was easy! I’m only on the starter dose but have already noticed a real decrease in food noise which was exactly what I was looking for. Long may it continue. I’ve had a bit of a dicky tummy but nothing I can’t manage. I haven’t told anyone I’m doing MJ (feel I will be judged) but I lost 25lbs by myself and then just stalled, so I’m looking for a bit of help losing the 40lbs in need to get into my healthy weight. Good luck everyone!

I finally started last night and I sat there for at least 5 minutes with the needle above my stomach trying to psyche myself up to actually putting the needle in. LOL And as suggested here, I hardly felt it.

MareeMint · 19/11/2024 21:33

I finally did my first injection last night. I followed the pharmacy's instruction of doing only 10 clicks but it wasn't on one, which the instruction leaflet said you turn until it's on one. Is this normal? Do some people only have to do a portion of a dose or did I do it incorrectly?

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 19/11/2024 21:33

Hi fubard 👋 welcome to the group! I don’t think we have many fellas on here so will be interesting to see if your experience on MJ is similar or varies. Hope you are having a good first week :)

Hi @MareeMint - just checking in to see if you started and how you are getting on? I think everyone is nervous at the beginning but hopefully you're one of the lucky ones with little to no side effects.

Yes, finally did it last night after sitting there for 5 minutes psyching myself up to actually inject it. 😄

I'd double check with your prescriber. I go to the 1 but maybe yours is different

I think mine is about 20 clicks to get it to read 1 in the window. I followed the instruction leaflet.

Thank you everyone for your advice 🩷 I’ve had a bath and de stressed a bit. I think I will down a pint of water this evening and get an early night. If I’m still struggling by tomorrow I can move my injection time forward and take it earlier in the day. I also got a ‘Calm’ supplement from WillPowders so will have one of them and see if it does anything. Thank you and good idea will have a think and plan my meals for tomorrow (willpower training day!). I have a tub of feta cubes and bag of salad in the fridge so think will have a Greek salad either for lunch or dinner :)

Good choices @KeepCalmandGiveItaGo

I’m working from home tomorrow and this is where my trips to the snack cupboard catch me out. I’m have Mediterranean veg for lunch so need to decide what’s for dinner (salmon I think, with veg) and plan snacks. I’ve just remembered the shop included watermelon so I’ll look forward to that. Night all. Here’s to a good sleep!

Watch one of the YouTube videos of prepping the pen. Its not complicated but here are a few steps and I found watching much easier than just reading the booklet.
Hope for the best but prepare for the worst as far as symptoms go. You might have nothing at all but I'd stock up on things like peppermint tea and immodium.
Take your starting measurements. I'm hoping that'll be good motivation as I see them going down.

WeakAsIAm · 20/11/2024 05:58

@PinkArt @Caffeinequeen91

Yes second caffeines advice, would add don't procrastinate over giving the injection; it's probably the biggest hurdle you'll face. Get it done quick and don't overthink it.

Avoid rich fatty foods you will regret it for hours afterwards.

Remember everyone is different in how they respond/react, yes we're great support on here but your experience can be similar or very different to others.

Stick with us on here, a lot of people myself included have chosen not to tell many/any people for fear of judgement or negative responses. We're a really great source of support and positive energy.

WeakAsIAm · 20/11/2024 05:59

Sorry wrong way round pinks advice is great x
