Thanks for the encouraging words all! Yes I think I need to take more Gaviscon I only take it at night generally right before bed. I also need to look into Laxido (?) or similar as I feel quite bloated. My energy is definitely better the last week- just in time for me to go up a dose!

Selkie9 · 19/11/2024 12:58

W4 D1. Lost 0.8kg in the past week (less than 2 pounds) which is less than the previous week's but I'm still happy with the progress. I was definitely feeling less suppression and more hunger throughout the week, wanting slightly larger portions and a few more glasses of wine.

My 5mg injection has arrived so I'm looking forward to going up in dose next week. I'm having zero side effects now so think it's worth going straight up to 5mg. Hopefully don't feel too hungry this week!

I am planning to start today but am so nervous. I picked up my Mounjaro a couple of days ago. I don't do well with nausea, etc. so have been too nervous to actually start. Any suggestions for how to deal with nausea effectively if it happens would be amazing! Do you take the dose in the morning, evening, before or after food, etc, what do you do to minimise nausea? Thank you.

Hi MareeMint Try not to worry the jab is easy and vast majority of us don’t even feel it at all (the needle is super fine and v short)

Voy advised that some things can help minimise side effects including nausea - keep well hydrated, 1.2 to 2L per day (I go for the upper end of this, 2L) and most of it is water but also have the odd hot drink. Being empty for long periods can be a trigger for nausea, so small of amounts of plain food is best when you get started. Avoid trigger foods, rich, fatty, heavy, greasy, spicy and heavily flavoured. Avoid carbonated drinks and alcohol. Voy said plain was best starting out and smaller portions as MJ slows down your digestion so avoid big platefuls. I found I couldn’t manage large portions anyway so portion size has naturally decreased which is helpful not to overload the digestion. I actually bought some digestive enzymes to aid digestion after eating but haven’t used them yet! They were recommended by someone also doing MJ, here’s the link:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004R68GZE/ref=pe_27063361_487055811_TE_3p_dp_1

All the best and let us know how you get on!

@Gettingbysomehow have you tried the isotonic drinks, we had some tablets you dissolve in water left from when my DD went to Korea. Taste a bit nasty but definitely helped me with headaches and dizziness

greycatgirl · 19/11/2024 13:57

Hi - I'm new to mumsnet and to the world of weight loss injections! Looking for some advice on starting Mounjaro. I had my second dose of 2.5 yesterday, and my first dose the week before. I've not had any side effects, which is good, but unfortunately I've not had any noticeable appetite suppression at all. Really worried that this doesn't bode well for me. Has anyone else been in this situation? Do you think if I am patient the effect will 'kick in'? Perhaps I need to wait out the month and go on to the higher dose? I'm really disappointed and worried this isn't going to work for me. Would love to hear if anyone has been in this situation and has any advice for me. Thank you!

piscofrisco · 19/11/2024 14:05

Just done 2nd injection of 2.5. Still not sure I'm doing it right. Seemed to take ages to see the 0 in the window whilst depressing the knob. Worried I've od'd myself.

Now anxious again to see if the side effects will show up.
Actually I've been very anxious in general all morning and quite hungry, which may all be in the mind, as I knew my 2nd jab was due this morning.
No weigh in as still don't have replacement scales Confused but clothes feel a bit looser I think and that's good enough for me.Typically any weight I have lost comes off first where I don't want it to (face and boobies) and last where I do, (huge apron belly). It's always been the way. Very annoying.

I was told that 2.5mg isn't expected to be a clinically significant dose (sorry, can't remember the word for that) and that I might not experience any suppression until I went up. Fingers crossed for you.

StarShapedWindow · 19/11/2024 15:19

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo thank you for the new thread 🤗

@evilharpy I had terrible pain in my neck and shoulders and around my kidneys too. I was so worried I’d done some real damage to myself but it eased off over the next two days. It never happened again and I’m now on my second pen (5ml).

StarShapedWindow · 19/11/2024 15:21

Does anyone else feel really nauseous after anything remotely rich? I can’t even eat soup made with a coconut milk base 🫤

Mrsredlipstick · 19/11/2024 15:52

I had rib pain too. It felt like I had been winded. I was really scared but it went after two days.
The constipation went yesterday thank the lord.
@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo thank you for the support. I have received so much negativity from friends and family that I can't speak about the side effects. Some want me to stay in my lane I think.

Shelledwarrior · 19/11/2024 15:55

Hi guys, I started MJ on Sun evening. Took 4 rounds of psyching myself up to do the jab. Eventually chilled the skin with a pack of peas and it was easy! I’m only on the starter dose but have already noticed a real decrease in food noise which was exactly what I was looking for. Long may it continue. I’ve had a bit of a dicky tummy but nothing I can’t manage. I haven’t told anyone I’m doing MJ (feel I will be judged) but I lost 25lbs by myself and then just stalled, so I’m looking for a bit of help losing the 40lbs in need to get into my healthy weight. Good luck everyone!

DarkForces · 19/11/2024 16:21

Just done dose 3. Definitely feeling the effects of suppression from dose 2 still but was starting to wear off. I'm hoping to get less of a bruise this week after all the advice here! Week 2 is still purple! Think I hit a vein!

Jabtastic · 19/11/2024 16:38

No sign of my delivery which I'm really cross about. No sign of my syringes from Amazon either. Both deliveries were due to arrive today so at this rate no jabs for me until Thursday which is annoying.

I was due my mounjaro 5mg pen today also, i think travel has come to a halt due to the snow in some areas!

Pumpkinforever · 19/11/2024 17:11

Week 3
SW : 15.12
CW : 15.2

obese but not morbidly obese. Long way to go to just be overweight but now chugging along

I think I will do a second month on 2.5.

Goldleafcat · 19/11/2024 17:34

Has anyone found their menstrual cycle has gone a bit awry? I had a random gain in my second week which I initially attributed to my period coming a few days early (some blood) but then there has been nothing since and it’s quite a bit overdue now! I can’t be pregnant (been a few months since I’ve been vaguely ‘romantic’ and have had several of my usual extremely heavy periods in the interim) (joys of fibroids). I’m 44 though so it could be peri menopause raising its head.

(It wouldn’t be implantation bleeding - months since sex)

MsRumpole · 19/11/2024 18:06

I think suppression might be easing up a bit, but only to the point where I can manage a bowl of vegetables and chicken. I'm still eating much less. Someone next to me opened a sandwich after I had eaten and I felt properly nauseous even though there was nothing obviously offensive about it. I can only say that I am just not tormented by the thought of eating in the way that I was previously. Long may it last!

Welcome! Don’t worry the initial dose is not therapeutic for a lot of people, it is an acclimatisation type of dose. It works for some people at a low level but not all! Think of it as prep time!

random223 · 19/11/2024 19:16

Hope ok to join. It has been good to read others experiences.
I took my third dose yesterday - so W3 D2
Have lost 10lbs so far.
Had an upset stomach last week but no other side effects. Except I am very cold (but that might be that be the snow!)
Would be amazing if this actually works.

AllstarFacilier · 19/11/2024 19:24

Do you follow anyone good on IG for MJ? I like using that for motivation but they’re apparently getting rid of following hashtags soon so I’ll have to find more people first.

Babymamamama · 19/11/2024 19:25

Hey all I’m coming to end of week two. My musings so far... as my suppression has been so good, do I automatically have to step up through the doses? Or do some people stay on 2.5 or even 5 longer term? I feel maybe that’s what I’m drawn to doing... but time will tell...

Why do I feel so chilly? Today went to work with three yes three jumpers under my thick coat. I know it’s cold out but really?
Revelations for me... riced cauliflower is a fab substitute for rice. I’m enjoying things I never liked before eg tinned sardines or mackerel in spicy sauce, kefir (flavoured or plain), protein bars. My craving for caffeine is much much reduced (don’t drink alcohol anyway). Haven’t eaten a full plate of food since this adventure started. And I like the focus on getting some veg and protein into me, as no longer constantly craving empty cals from carbs and sugar.

Hi
Welcome. I'm in my first week as well and I'm not convinced that I'm experiencing massive appetite stress suppression. I think there's something but the noise is definitely not gone completely.

TeenLifeMum · 19/11/2024 19:28

I ventured over to a mj thread where people are posting what they’re eating… some seem to be eating a lot.

WeakAsIAm · 19/11/2024 19:42

Hi all,

So just taken my 4th jab

SW 13st 6lb
CW 12st 9lb
TW 10st

So 11lb loss so far, I've had minimal side effects but also have found that suppression definitely runs out by then end of the week; my last 2 days this week I could eat 3 full meals if I chose to.

So I've decided to use my bonus dose and increase to 3.75mg for my 4th dose. I've ordered my 5mg pen and will increase my dose. I a little worried about side effects when I go up to 5mg and I wanted a more gradual increase from 2.5mg so decided 3.75mg may help to reduce any side effects.

Had my first meal out on Saturday, had pizza which became a faux pas as I spent the early hours clinging to the toilet; sexy Confused. Also had just 1 alcoholic drink (I'm not a frequent drinker) but when I did drink I could manage more than 1 vodka - well not anymore didn't even finish it because could already feel my eyes lose focus.

To the PP (sorry not taken note of your username). The dizziness could it be low blood sugar; I know we're avoiding it like the plague but maybe you need to include some carbs to keep your blood sugars up?

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 19/11/2024 19:50

evilharpy · 19/11/2024 09:22

W1 D3. No appetite suppression. Only side effect is one that I haven't heard of anyone having - soreness around the back of my neck, upper back and sides as if I had been doing lots of exercise.

It's funny you say that. How are you sleeping? I put this down to sleeping far more soundly and not moving as much.
