@Jabtastic I had terrible acid reflux on wegovy, and was worried for my throat and teeth. But gaviscon tablets kicked it off and it's not returned since.

evilharpy · 19/11/2024 09:22

W1 D3. No appetite suppression. Only side effect is one that I haven't heard of anyone having - soreness around the back of my neck, upper back and sides as if I had been doing lots of exercise.

RayonSunrise · 19/11/2024 09:25

Morning all. Weigh in & dose day today, and I'm pleased to see I've lost 3.5lbs in W1. Definitely feeling some hunger though.

I'm averaging around 1200 calories a day, and trying to keep my eating normal-but-less. This makes my Mounjaro-aided diet much less obvious to bystanders! My main dietary change has been swapping in low fat coleslaw in for most of my lunches, which I'm hoping will both provide lots of fibre and help my slowed-down digestion.

Tigger83 · 19/11/2024 09:28

Hi all week 3 day 5 13lbs down so far. On 2.5mg and the appetite suppression is huge for me, not many other side effects just a bit queasy and a bit tired.

Ooh I had this. Soreness in neck and one of my shoulders. I didn’t link it to the mounjaro. Is this a side effect?

Hi evil harpy, I've had a similar thing the last week. It's like a muscular pain on both sides at the very bottom of my ribs. I made an appointment with my GP as I was worried it may be related to MJ and affecting my kidneys although I've been drinking lots and have no other issues. I had the appointment yesterday and my GP wasn't concerned. She's aware I'm on MJ and said this wasn't really a common side effect and she pressed my kidneys and stomach / pancreas areas pretty hard - no pain at all. My ribs however were quite tender and she's things it's just a muscle strain. I've been told to monitor it and come back if it gets worse. I can't think of anything I've done to cause this although I have had 3 months off exercise due to abreast reduction in July and am only start to lift things again so it could be that!

Let me know how you get on! Reassuring I'm not the only one :)

I've also had this too!

Gettingbysomehow · 19/11/2024 10:58

Horrible day today. The worst. Got out of bed to start work (from home) and almost passed out, felt incredibly dizzy. Ive got 100% appetite supression on 2.5.mgs and have lost a pound a day all this week. I am eating.
Dr Google says my symptoms are dehydration and hypotension. Im on blood pressure pills and my blood pressure is very low GP says come off medication until BP goes up.
I just cannot drink more than 2 pints of water a day its impossible. I dont know how anyone drinks 3 litres. Id die. Maybe I should put myself on a drip!!!

jaromoun · 19/11/2024 11:11

w3 d2. i've delayed my next jab by a day as i need to move it on so the next one comes out on pay day.
up 1kg from yesterday but i had more wine than i should at the weekend but it was still under my weekly calories but i've also had a lot of stress and 3 nights of hardly any sleep as one of ours cats is seriously ill. i've booked a couple of days annual leave to try and rest and sleep so will see what the next week brings.

rocketgal · 19/11/2024 11:14

I've had the sore neck and shoulder too. I haven't had the energy to exercise so definitely not that. Lost half a pound this week which is disappointing but the only thing it can be is the booze. Going to really up the water today and see what the scales say tomorrow. Crazy the effect alcohol has on weight

BleachedJumper · 19/11/2024 11:17

@Gettingbysomehow Im sorry you’re struggling today. Could you tolerate hot water with a slice of lemon? Or a peppermint tea? It really is very important for your health that you drink water, I’ve seen a few people on tiktok who have been hospitalised with dehydration on mj.

I don’t enjoy drinking tap water from a glass, I think it smells funny. But I drink from a 500ml plastic bottle, 4/6 a day.

rocketgal · 19/11/2024 11:21

@Tigger83 your results are amazing! Same starting weight as me. Any tips? I'd love to get a stone off 🙏🏻

Tigger83 · 19/11/2024 11:23

No no tips really, just much smaller portions and drinking lots. I'm not snacking at all and my wine consumption has dramatically gone down which I think is helping. Don't feel like a look like I've lost a stone which is depressing!

Arglefraster · 19/11/2024 11:30

Gettingbysomehow What's the challenge of drinking water? Maybe if you can explain someone will be able to suggest something that will work for you.

for me water is about habit - I drink 2 pints when I wake up, I don't think about it I just down them. It makes me very sloshy but that's one litre down before my day really starts!

TeenLifeMum · 19/11/2024 11:34

NoOneAtTheInn · 18/11/2024 22:08

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo thanks so much for the lovely welcome. And reassurance!

Hope everyone is doing well today. How are you @TeenLifeMum?

So many people jn same boat, it's great to have this support!

I am on W1D2 and nausea still pretty bad. Can function but it's annoying. The phenomenal thing though is my complete disinterest in alcohol. I had definitely developed too much of a habit, using a glass of wine as a means of survival at end of a day with work and two kids under 4. But I couldn't stomach a wine or beer right now!

Definitely not eating enough. Hoping the nausea will subside on day 3 or 4 and I'll find more ways to eat then. Will definitely lose weight at this rate but would prefer to be eating more.

Positively, can still stomach coffee, have no constipation and am not tired. Every cloud!

Going for a sneaky weigh in tomorrow on day 3.

Sending support to everyone.

Are you drinking enough? That was the advice my friend gave to minimise nausea. Thankfully I’ve been okay but exceptionally tired (I was in bed reading at 9pm last night and asleep by 10pm). I’m struggling to eat 1200 calories but trying to get over 1000 for health reasons. Wishing the week away to be honest. I’d like to skip 2 weeks ahead so I can feel this is more achievable.

I’ve always eaten healthy meals, my issue is fog eating in between (chocolate biscuits, crisps, nuttella sandwiches, butter on bread, cheese). I don’t fancy any of that so it’s enabling me to stick to the healthy meals.

I’ve not eaten today but I’ve never been a breakfast person. Going to have some fruit.

i hope the sickness subsides for those who are suffering. Neck ache is interesting… I stood up into the outside playhouse roof and caught my upper back so was blaming that, maybe it’s the jab as well?

@NoOneAtTheInn are you logging calories? That might be causing your sickness if you’re not eating enough?

I find a straw makes it easier. I don’t usually drink enough outside coffee and green tea.

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 18/11/2024 22:10

Hi Madickenxx am just catching up and wanted to say a huge well done, that is a fantastic result for your lower blood pressure and cholesterol 🌟 and a great loss on the scales too! So encouraging to hear :) hope you had fun Christmas shopping. Are you planning to go up to 5mg?

Thanks @KeepCalmandGiveItaGo - I'm very happy. Yes I plan to go to 5mg later this week. I've not really had any side effects to speak of and am starting to feel more hungry so think it's the right time for me. Hopefully I'll be able to stay on 5mg for a couple of pens as I don't want to rush up the doses but will see how I go. How are you doing?

fubard · 19/11/2024 11:52

Hi all!
M 44 102kg. Took my first 2.5mg injection on Friday evening.

Saturday I felt really nauseous and had dull headache up to about 2pm, appetite suppression felt good, didn't feel any need to snack during the day.

Sunday got up and went to sons football match and didn't eat until 12pm and still didn't feel massively hungry just knew I should eat. Had a football social afternoon with the other parents and had 4 pints of Guinness (I was a bit worried about that).

Monday at work had scrambled egg on thin bagel for breakfast and a chicken salad in wholemeal pitta, felt a bit hungry when I got home and had a tuna mayo jacket potato. Still no craving for snacks or sweet stuff which is good however I'm not sure if that's the MJ or just me being conscious.

Today I am starting to feel some hunger, on the scales this morning I was 100kg dead on so just dipped below the 16st mark.

Madickenxx · 19/11/2024 11:59

MareeMint · 18/11/2024 21:11

I am planning to start today but am so nervous. I picked up my Mounjaro a couple of days ago. I don't do well with nausea, etc. so have been too nervous to actually start. Any suggestions for how to deal with nausea effectively if it happens would be amazing! Do you take the dose in the morning, evening, before or after food, etc, what do you do to minimise nausea? Thank you.

Hi @MareeMint - just checking in to see if you started and how you are getting on? I think everyone is nervous at the beginning but hopefully you're one of the lucky ones with little to no side effects.

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 19/11/2024 12:19

Good morning fellow jabbers, wishing you well on this chilly morning - we woke up to snow which my 2 DC very much enjoyed frolicking in! I’m feeling the cold on MJ so layered up in two jumpers, hat, thick gloves, and my warmest winter coat. Been inside a while now but have kept the two jumpers, lol!

Mrsredlipstick hi been thinking of you since your previous post and hoping things improve for you and sorry you feel disappointed. Maybe your body is just adjusting to the medication, on the introduction talk from Voy they emphasised that the starter dose doesn’t always produce losses and many people really do need the therapeutic dose (5mg and upwards) to start getting weight loss results. Would Gaviscon maybe helps with the burps? Hope you get some rest today and try to take your mind off food and Wegovy a while, do something nice for you, pop on a favourite film or listen to favourite music, bubble bath and funny podcast or something. Sending a hug and let us know how you’re doing x

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 19/11/2024 12:29

Oh and thank you Mrsredlipstick I have just lost 1lb this week but minimal side effects (except feeling cold, but I had this before anyway!) so am happy with that It I probably would be constipated more if I wasn’t on my regular meds so am greatful for that - one last plug for Macrogol powders, really have found them the best for managing longer term constipation.

Is a bit weird, at times I have much more energy and get loads done and other days am more tired so just trying to go with the flow and like lots of you have said am going to bed earlier which is helping (no compulsion to stay up snacking in front of the TV which is a good thing!). Very much enjoying chatting to you all on here and seeing how we’re all doing, cheer each other on and support each other through the ups and downs of this new territory of MJ/ Wegovy.

Yeah I was going to say hot water with a flavour, or even warm water (like topping up a regular cold water glass with a bit from a boiled kettle) can make it easier to get down. Especially in cold weather. I heard that UTI’s are more common in winter and it’s mostly due to dehydration (as when we feel cold we don’t as readily drink cold water, which is also colder from the tap)

HammerbarnSausage · 19/11/2024 07:34

Welcome all the newbies, I can't believe there are so many of us.
I'm week 3 day 4, had drinks on the weekend. Kind of to check if I could still drink like I used to, (waaaay too much). I could, so something I need to be wary of and try and limit. I'm still not getting much suppression and eating pretty normally. Have had a small gain so far this week, maybe due to the booze. See how I go on weigh in day.

Hi HammerbarnSausage sorry the scales haven’t gone the right way so far this week but sounds like it may have been due to the weekend drinks. When I’ve had too much I get a bit water retentive (I think alcohol has a dehydrating effect) which might also show on the scales. Hopefully the next dose up will help you get there with more suppression.

flyinghen · 19/11/2024 12:49

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 15/11/2024 23:01

Hi flyinghen, yes and welcome! 👋 well done! Try not to panic, there’s things we can do to help ease most of them if they occur. I will just copy paste a note I made following an introduction call with Voy as they ran through starting up:

“Key takeaways: important to stay hydrated (1.2 - 2L per day) thirst can be dampened so need to make sure to drink enough. Plain diet especially initially, smaller and more often is best. Avoid trigger foods: Rich, fatty, spicy Balanced plate approach; 1/2 veg, 1/4 protein, 1/4 carb & matchbox size healthy fat.
Resistance training helps minimise muscle loss (doesn’t need to be heavy weights) protein also important/ good for this.

MJ pen can be taken at different time on your chosen day, it is long acting so same time is not super necessary

Can take a few weeks for appetite suppression to kick in. This is quite common.
Get Gaviscon and check rennies.”

All the very best and let us know how you get on!

Thank you so much for this! So far I'm not really feeling any suppression so hopefully that will kick in a couple of weeks.

My only symptom so far is terrible neck and upper back ache and swollen glands the day after my injection, that subsided mostly by day 2.

At the moment I'm feeling good but I do need to get into the habit of drinking more!
