Miss Mounjaro UK has the most up to date price comparison charts: https://www.missmounjarouk.com/

I will be back in the morning to add all of the information I had spent an hour on earlier on the original thread 23 that sort of went bust but I've just not found time this evening.

I'll cover UTIs again, as well as add the images from Miss Mounjaro, and the list of possible side effects.

Not quite the start to thread 23 that I had planned for, but I do think it's very important that everyone who had successful losses in thread 22 gets a huge congratulations and well done.

Happy thread 23 everybody!

Checking in for the new thread :)

InspectorGidget · 05/11/2024 12:19

Thank you for the new thread!

After going under 200lbs last week I've been over it and under it like a yo yo for an official stay the same on weight day. Sigh.

I did have one of the ladies at church on Sunday say to me 'you look like you've lost a lot of weight?' - which is the first time anyone has commented! So that's a nice win for me!

For anyone new - I'm 35.5lbs down in 27 weeks. I've been slow and steady and had 5 weeks of no loss every 5/6 weeks. I went up to 7.5mg 3 weeks ago so been a gradual increase for me as I'm happy with the 2lb per week average.

I do mystery dining and had 2 dines last week which I think was my undoing. Although one was for 3 courses and I had to sneak my pudding into a carry out box! I was way too full!!

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 05/11/2024 12:52

Afternoon all, checking in on the new thread. 🙂

Caffeineneedednow · 05/11/2024 13:26

Thanks for the thread, Mind if I join? I'm a month in now. My second pen has just arrived today. So far its going well. I'm 10 lbs down in that month.

Feeling great, having lost the first bit I decided to start couch to 5 k again. I ended up being able to jump straight into week 6 which really surprised me.

HippoPortlyMouse · 05/11/2024 15:51

Thank you for the new thread!

I got a flyer for Numan through the post today (addressed to the house, not me in particular) offering money off for their weight loss injection program. I'm not going to take them up on it, I'm happy with my current prescriber, but it did make me realise quite how mainstream the injections are becoming.

Definitely, our local chemist has a massive poster in their window offering them.

Like time4changeagain. my fave comparison site is monj.co.uk, great that you can just click on dose to see current cheapest.

Hi all. Some brilliant losses been posted. Specially the long term users. Very inspiring.

follow up to the UTI conversation- I saw a lovely GP today as after finishing a course of antibiotics last week, the UTI sensation is still there. She prescribed me a different anti-b.

I asked her about MJ/GLP1s generally and any link to UTIs or painful bladder. I told her that on forums like here and Reddit, anecdotally people are reporting more UTIs while on GLP1s. She said she wasn’t aware of a link and that they follow NICE guidelines, but did say that there might be no proof currently of a link because no-one has yet studied for one.

she said she was happy for me to continue MJ and take these antibiotics, and see if we can get rid of the UTI. I’m relieved she didn’t say stop MJ.

so I am starting a course of Pivmecillinam tonight, and I’m also due to take MJ tonight! Does anyone have any experience of antibiotics with MJ? I’m wondering if I’m going to feel sick/have upset stomach.

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 05/11/2024 18:34

That's interesting @OrangesAndLemonz. I've finished antibiotics for my UTI but it still feels a bit weird. I will keep an eye on it.

Well I'm down another lb today as I've been too anxious to eat because of the ADHD assessment. I was diagnosed with combined ADHD today.

QueenOfHiraeth · 05/11/2024 18:49

@OrangesAndLemonz @BellaCriesAndThatsAlright Are either of you perimenopausal? (sorry don't know anyone's ages) You can get symptoms like this which do not clear with antibiotics but which may respond to vaginal oestrogens. Just in case it is not MJ after all!

Oh yes could well be. I'm almost 43. Oh the joys!

Oooh @QueenOfHiraeth thanks that is interesting… I am in perimenopause. I’m 49 and have regular periods. I started HRT (Hallelujah Rejoice Treatment) patches in March this year which have been great for various symptoms. I hope that’s enough estrogen to boost me but if the damned burning wee feeling doesn’t clear up on this round of anti-bs, I will mention estrogen to the GP.

OrangesAndLemonz · 05/11/2024 18:58

@BellaCriesAndThatsAlright ah well done on getting through the assessment - anx another pound off - and hope the diagnosis is helpful.

Searchingforthelight · 05/11/2024 19:01

I'm joining in, I'd like to keep track of this thread!

I don't think I'd have even heard of MJ if it didn't keep popping onto 'active' on Mumsnet! I'm so grateful that I ran into it, as it has given me my health back.

TheShellBeach · 05/11/2024 19:07

MJ has also given me much better health.
It's wonderful.

I'm down 48lb in 18 weeks. Currently on 12.5mg pen.

Congratumisserasions 😂

The medication really stunts your appetite, and if you're autistic too it can, for some, heighten sensory sensitivities. Still worth trying a few brands.

You might find you need to lower your dose of mounjaro to compensate. I reckon if I could have gotten on with the medication I probably wouldn't have needed to even start mounjaro.

I'm honestly so happy for you that you've had your suspicions confirmed and you can know yourself better I'm just sorry that it's for a neurotype that is still quite widely misunderstood. You'll find nothing but understanding from me though.

I love "Congratumisserasions" 😀

And thanks. I'm going to be waiting until the middle of next year for medication so I'm hoping that I can reach goal before then and stop the MJ. It is certainly a target to aim for. I can make peace with my difficulties and past problems now.

In a lovely story of "fuck around and find out" I just attempted to commiserate by eating a takeaway pizza for the first time in months. My body rejected that wholeheartedly. Bleurgh!

I sent my mum, who doesn't drive, to three different shops for mushy peas so we could have pie and peas tonight and by the time it was in front of me I couldn't face it.

A massive obstacle for me is I can't do a lot of my own cooking, so when someone's spent so much time cooking for me or shopping and I can't eat it I feel really guilty and shovel it in anyway out of obligation.

Feeling a bit queasy now so might be joining you on the bleurgh-ing.

Thank you!

I started dieting back in January. I was 20st 2lb.

I did fairly well by myself but started stalling in June. I'd lost 2st 4lb by myself.

I started MJ at the end of June.

Total loss now is 5st 8lb.

LaurieFairyCake · 06/11/2024 05:49

Checking in and trying to remind myself that my body doesn't need food everyday, that loads of people fast successfully and that there's plenty of research that says fasting reduces inflammation 🤦‍♀️ and has all sorts of health benefits

This all arises out of the day after I inject I just can't eat at ALL and then gradually over the week I build up to being able to eat 'properly'.

As I've gone up the doses the eating the day after has definitely got harder, I just focused on getting water into me yesterday
