Miss Mounjaro UK has the most up to date price comparison charts: https://www.missmounjarouk.com/

I will be back in the morning to add all of the information I had spent an hour on earlier on the original thread 23 that sort of went bust but I've just not found time this evening.

I'll cover UTIs again, as well as add the images from Miss Mounjaro, and the list of possible side effects.

Not quite the start to thread 23 that I had planned for, but I do think it's very important that everyone who had successful losses in thread 22 gets a huge congratulations and well done.

Happy thread 23 everybody!

I took my 2nd 7.5mg on Friday, and officially I can say in three months I have lost two stone! Only another few lbs and I will be in the 13 stone bracket for the first time in a good few years. I found my weight on the NHS app and it said I was this weight in September 2022 but I definitely wasn’t 😂

SW - 16st 4lb
CW - 14st 2lb

SBMI - 35.8
CBMI - 31.2

Someone noticed yesterday too for the first time! When I told her that I’d lost nearly two stone she looked shocked and congratulated me. I’m chuffed to bits.

QueenOfHiraeth · 11/11/2024 15:47

@SnacklessWonder I've just had that jamming thing happen today! First time ever. It was infuriating because it was my fifth dose and I had been counting clicks as we've been away and had lots going on so I had been doing 50 clicks instead of 60 which meant I had the "golden" dose plus another half of one. I primed it, did a hard twist which I have done before on previous pens with no problems, began to inject and part way through it jammed. I had to eyeball it and guess how much of the dose I might not have got then do that with a syringe (clinical accuracy score zero!)
This week is going to be like Russian Roulette as I may have got more or less than intended!

@Jimmyneutronsforehead Congratulations! It's lovely to hit those milestone interim goals, well done!

I have hit a goal today too. Just before Covid I reached my lowest weight for many years after doing BIWI's Bootcamp on here but had, since then, regained a large chunk of it but I have today reached that low point again. I'm 20kg down so have lost just over 3 stone in almost exactly 6 months which I am very happy with, especially as I am older and not very active

Now I just have to figure out how to amend my goal weight on Nutracheck!

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 11/11/2024 16:05

@QueenOfHiraeth I've seen BIWI pop up but I've never heard of BIWIs boot camp, but it's actually just made me feel really nice that there are just so many communities on here that have genuinely helped people.

Congratulations on your new weight and well done. I'm going to have to check out this nutracheck because it's been mentioned here a few times.

Nutracheck is far easier, in my opinion than MyFitnessPal but I still cannot figure how to amend my goal weight!

Snozzlemaid · 11/11/2024 19:11

@QueenOfHiraeth Go to progress then weight. Then click on Edit and you can reset your goal from there.

imnottoofussed · 11/11/2024 19:29

Does that not get rid of previous progress and total weight loss etc?

imnottoofussed · 11/11/2024 19:30

Ignore me just tried it and all worked fine

QueenOfHiraeth · 11/11/2024 19:34

@Snozzlemaid Thank you, woohoo I've done it! I was scared of losing my progress if I replaced my start weight with my current weight but have sorted it now.
Changing the goal weight has made me realise I have lost almost 20% of my start weight. Currently at 18.6% so that's something to aim at

Peggy148 · 11/11/2024 22:00

After the dreadful 10mg-before-I-was-ready-accident, I went back down to 7.5mg last week after a 48hr delay (suggested by MedExpress) to level things out, and I’m delighted to say I am back to ‘normal’ (as normal as can be on MJ!).

No vomiting in bins or existential fear about the runs in rush hour traffic. Huzzah. Thank you to @QueenOfHiraeth and @Jimmyneutronsforehead for being lovely and sympathetic, and making helpful suggestions ❤️.

And, after a week of eating sensibly and exercising as normal I have am SO FRICKING EXCITED to say I can fit in my pre-Covid size 10 topshop skinny jeans. I haven’t been this size since 2018. I cried when I put them on. They slid on like gloves, without any protest, and I didn’t even need to breathe in or stand on tiptoes to do the zip. I feel like I’ve been reunited with a long lost friend.

Utterly ridiculous behaviour I know, but I am so happy.

I don’t weigh myself (except once a month at the gym for my next dose) so I’m basing my weight loss on fitting back into my favourite clothes that I loved and thought I had lost forever. My starting weight was 92kg and I think I am around 70kg now. I’d still like to lose a bit more to get back to my weight watchers goal weight from 2010 (10st 4pounds) which will put me almost slap in the middle of the healthy BMI range (I am 5’7”). So maybe half a stone to go before I think about titrating down.

Thank you everyone, you are all wonderous humans!!

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 11/11/2024 22:31

@Peggy148 I'm so glad you didn't have any more ongoing side effects. You have been on my mind, so it's really great to hear you're doing OK and you're closer to your goal.

Isn't it absolutely wonderful when you get to fit into clothes you already know you love. It's better than getting new clothes in my opinion. It's such an achievement.

It 100% is. I honestly would not have got this far without this group. As mentioned before, DP Mr Peggy is deficient in any helpful emotional intelligence and just grunts when I tell him my NSVs. He’s not a man of words bless him.

Oi! I found y'all!

I have been very infrequent here over the last few weeks and suddenly the other thread was full!

Hope everyone is doing okay with your MJ journeys, with the cold, with the news from last week about that nurse (really sad), with the moronic US election results...etc etc etc.

In 2 weeks I'll mark my 6th month on MJ! I am currently sitting at 78.6 kg (from 107.2 kg on May 25). I am 6 kg away from Healthy BMI, and 8-10 kg from my ultimate end goal, which I didn't even think was possible back in May. I remember my first goal was 100 kg. Then 90 kg. Then 80 kg.

Can't believe in another 1 kg I would have lost THIRTY FREAKING KILOS! That's like a third of my body weight!!

I feel great, I look very different. My hair loss has slowed down significantly - so hopefully this helps anyone else who is anxious with it. And no lose skin to report of so far. I have ordered some cute Christmas jumpers size M, and dare I say they are roomy! I was a L/XL before! I also got size 10 jeans and they fit!!
I'm still on some made up dose that I decided on myself - if you are a stickler for the rules, please look away now. I am currently doing 6.25 mg, and it feels pretty good - no adverse effects whatsoever, and in no rush to move up fully to 7.5 mg quite yet. Also, for anyone who remembers my old posts, my weight loss has slowed down a bit - it used to be 1-1.5 kg a week, now it's more like 800 g - 1 kg, but weirdly I am in no rush. Like, it does not bother me. I've also relaxed a bit more diet-wise, so that may be it also. I still track, still focus on protein, but not quite as militantly as at the very beginning.

I promise, now I've made my place here, I will go back the last 5-6 pages and catch up on everyone's updates! I've missed you guys!!

FarriersGirl · 12/11/2024 17:58

Well done @3wDavid I think we started about the same time. I got to my GW a couple of weeks back and am titrating down slowly......🙂

Oh wow that's such good weight loss. You'll be well into maintenance by May 25, which is crazy isn't it because how many years have we all spent trying and failing to lose weight, and practically 6 months and you're almost there.

It's a miracle drug but your success is a testament to your hard work. Big congratulations.

How are you feeling about the Christmas period?

Before this thread I made another thread that broke instantly so had to quickly remake it but I'd written a piece about if any of our maintainers or close to maintainers could share some wisdom because we're entering the festive, food filled season where there's a lot of subconscious pressure to eat and drink, and even if you don't eat much the foods available are all a bit higher calorie, plus drinks which lower inhibitions. I bet you're more motivated than ever to get to your goal weight though because it's so close.

OP posts:
3wDavid · 12/11/2024 18:50

Thank you all, so kind!!

This thread really helped me on my journey - just the kindness of others cheering you on means so much! Especially when you hit a snag, a “stall”, etc. I cannot express how much I am grateful for you all!

RE the Christmas period. I am super excited about it, I wrote in another thread about Christmas menu ideas a while back, that I’ll prioritize really good quality meat and wine. 😄 And will forgo the sweet cocktails and cheeseboards. I think it’s all about balance. As cliche as it sounds.
I’ve also realized over the past few weeks that MJ has NOT in fact killed my love of food, or cravings. I still get them , I still think Oooh that sounds yummy for supper. But then I am satisfied much more quickly. Like the other day I really felt like having sushi and ordered a bunch of options, and probably had a grand total of 6 pieces. They were delightful but I just felt full and satisfied. I find this happens lately. I get the craving/idea for a food I fancy but then a little does the trick. Which I find interesting because at the beginning 2-3 months, I found the thought of food…boring. Like nothing sounded appealing or delicious, I ate because I had to. I much prefer this situation now though and it feels much more sustainable long-term.
I hope I can ring in the New Year with a BMI of “Healthy”/“Normal”. But if I “stall” over the holiday period, that’s okay too. I’m not going to miss the forest for the trees.
My birthday is in 3 months, I think it’s quite reasonable and realistic to have hit my target GW by then.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 12/11/2024 19:21

Yes! This is how mounjaro makes me feel too. I am not completely turned off food, but there have been moments where it's got to teatime and I am still satisfied from lunch that I don't really want an evening meal, or even really fancied something and then by the time it's made I've gone off the idea. 🤦‍♀️

I've seen some people say they miss missing food, but I can't relate at all. I still never miss food, but I can go to the fridge and get 2 or 3 chicken bites instead of 10, and I can eat 1 ham salad wrap instead of 2 or 3, and I can say I've finished half way through a meal.

My FIL has just donated a meat slicer so I'm thinking of getting some prosciutto in and other cold cuts.

I've found my new motivation dress!

Am I being delusional, probably.

If I had a smaller body that would fit into this dress like that I would wear it to take the bins out. I'd wear it in the shower. I'd wear it to bed. I'd wear it for school drop offs and pick ups. You will find me in the middle aisle of the Iceland warehouse fishing potato smileys from the bottom of the freezer wearing this exact dress. The whomps would be whomping. Exes funeral? No problem. This is the dress.

FarriersGirl · 13/11/2024 10:37

@Jimmyneutronsforehead I don't think that dress is delusional - go for it Jimmy!
As far as Christmas is concerned I am in the process of titrating down and I was going to do 1 pen of 5mg and then one last one at 2.5mg. However this will leave me finished with MJ about 10 days before Christmas. After 30+ years of yo -yo dieting this does not feel sensible so I am thinking I will get another pen to get me well into the new year before I stop.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 13/11/2024 11:34

@FarriersGirl I think this might be my birthday dress for 2025.

Definitely support the idea of another pen over Christmas but make sure you're getting in a lot of protein snacks for if the urge takes you and then you'll still feel fuller for longer.

OP posts:
QueenOfHiraeth · 13/11/2024 12:59

I love the dress @Jimmyneutronsforehead and wish I was young enough to wear something like that. I'm absolutely in favour of women wearing anything that makes them feel good at any size or any age but I have just reached a point, mid-60s, where I do sometimes see things that are gorgeous and would have loved back in the day but would not be confident in them now.
I have lost a bit of my sense of what clothes suit me at the moment as I have lived for many years in a certain style which always looked good and flattered me at that size but, while those clothes would still work, I think I could broaden my horizons now. I think it is harder as you can't just go out and try a range of clothes any more like you could in the past, my nearest town centre has no department store and it's hard to know where to go to see more options

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 13/11/2024 13:15

@QueenOfHiraeth my 2024 new years resolution was to buy no black clothes.

I hid in black clothes. A black primark t shirt and leggings were a safe bet, a black floaty dress for lazy days.

So I do still wear the black things that fit me, but if something had a lot of black or was fully black I didn't buy it this year and wearing colourful clothes has really improved my self confidence and I actually think it's changed my overall daily mood too. Also I've subconsciously switched to slow fashion which is a huge positive. A lot of my colourful clothes are adaptable, small business made and really high quality material, and because I picked up crocheting this year I've just been making a lot of my own clothes, in the colour I want in the shape I want.

I've just chopped the back panel off of one of my favourite tops so I can make a new smaller one, recycling the same yarn I used to make it in the first place.

I hope you do get the confidence to wear the clothes you like and get to find yours sense of style again. We're all in this state of transformation at the moment aren't we.

When I grow into my older years if I want to look as beautiful and eclectic and wonderful as Iris Apfel.

@Peggy148 Glad to hear all is going well now and that your provider has given you good advice.

Just wanted to share sympathy with the non-understanding husbands! Mine is totally clueless, he does care but just doesn't understand. His parents were totally fattist and it is to his credit that he is not the same, is supportive and loves me at any size as long as I am happy but he really does not understand the struggle. He is still very similar size to when we met whereas I have been everything from a size 10 to a size 26

Your post reminded me of me and my bestie's favourite poem. Sadly, she didn't make it but I still try to live by this:
https://www.scottishpoetrylibrary.org.uk/poem/warning/
