Miss Mounjaro UK has the most up to date price comparison charts: https://www.missmounjarouk.com/

I will be back in the morning to add all of the information I had spent an hour on earlier on the original thread 23 that sort of went bust but I've just not found time this evening.

I'll cover UTIs again, as well as add the images from Miss Mounjaro, and the list of possible side effects.

Not quite the start to thread 23 that I had planned for, but I do think it's very important that everyone who had successful losses in thread 22 gets a huge congratulations and well done.

Happy thread 23 everybody!

@LaurieFairyCake as long as over the course of the week you get enough calories and nutrients to feel good and have energy I think that's fine to pretty much fast for a day. If the inability to eat becomes half the week though you may need to move down to a lower dose.

LaurieFairyCake · 06/11/2024 08:29

Thanks 🙏

I'm incredibly resistant to weight loss, usually lose under 2 pounds a month.

I've been like it on all the doses, even on days I'm eating I still can't eat more than 700-800 calories

Lastchancefatty · 06/11/2024 08:36

Stall this week. Stayed exactly the same. Just gone up to 10mg and it's not doing a lot. Do need to up my fluids again though

BleachedJumper · 06/11/2024 10:57

Hi all, hoping to attempt to keep up with you on this thread, I’m aware it’s very fast moving!

I’m on week two of 2.5, I’ve been conscientious about having ‘good’ food in the house, I’m a complete carb addict so for me I just need to not have the temptation around me. I’ve noticed a significant suppression of alcohol desire, and when I’ve been in the shops I found it didn’t even enter into my head to mooch through the treats aisle, which is a big win!

@LaurieFairyCake am I correct in thinking you are on the petite end of the scale? I’m under 5ft and have learnt that a lot of weight dialogue/thinking is different when I’m basically built like a small Shetland pony!

LaurieFairyCake · 06/11/2024 10:59

That's right, 4 foot 10 Grin

I used to be 4 foot 11.5 inches but then you get old and bloody shrink !

Yes! I was 5' 6" in my prime, but am now 5' 3".

LaurieFairyCake · 06/11/2024 11:29

We should probably start a midget Mounjaro thread Grin

Because everyone else is getting to eat 1300 calories and I'm eating maximum 800 and losing veeeeerrrry slowly (which is fine)

BleachedJumper · 06/11/2024 11:41

😂I could definitely join a midget mounjaro thread!

I saw a video on tiktok about someone’s experiences with WLI, and they reported that what they’ve found is not only the quietening of food noise, but almost a lack of joy for anything at all, which did resonate for me. I think I’ve always used food/alcohol as a dopamine hit, and now I’m no longer seeking that but also just feel generally more flat. I don’t think it’s a negative thing necessarily at this stage, but I wondered if that’s something other people are experiencing?

My TDEE says I should be able to eat 1300 calories for my goal weight. It's a big fat liar.

Can someone sciencey explain to me why we have to eat like 800-900 calories, and that's like 10 hard boiled eggs allowance a day, but in places like east Asia, it's so normal to be extremely petite and they have some of the most delicious foods ever, and much of it is rice based. They must surely eat more than 800-900 calories. Are we doomed for eternity?

BleachedJumper · 06/11/2024 12:02

Not at all sciencey @Jimmyneutronsforehead but I’ve always assumed they are generally a lot less sedentary culturally than westerners.

I do wonder how much UPF’s have impacted on our weight. I know countries like Japan are seeing a rise in obesity after adopting more westernised foods. There is so much economically tied up in creating foods that are addictive, with cheap raw materials that would have been waste product previously. And I don’t even think it’s the ‘obvious’ junk/treat foods like chocolate and crisps, but basically any bread item you can buy in a supermarket is very highly processed with a lot of additional ingredients that wouldn’t have been included in the staple diet 100 years ago.

I think that can be a drawback. Johann Hari touched on this in his book, he said he felt low and thought the drug might be causing depression until a friend pointed out that he had always used food to "fill a hole" in his life and needed to address his reasons for overeating in the first place.
I am a bit this way at the moment and realised that I replaced my "food hole" with an "MJ rabbit hole" and now I have filled that up and am bored of watching TikTok MJ influencers give crap advice and take chunks out of each other (well almost Grin) I am realising that I need to find a new interest!

Waspwine · 06/11/2024 12:59

Oh my Lord. After my drama last Friday where my bonus dose/pen jammed and I had only a tiny amount ie 2/3mg max (usually on 8.5mg) I weighed today and I’m 3lbs up 😱.

Really disheartened by this as I don’t feel I ate more than usual and this has made me worry for when I come off! I am hoping it’s water weight 😔

I have my new pen ready to go and will take my usual dose tomorrow a day early.

TheShellBeach · 06/11/2024 13:03

Well, I haven't felt sad or depressed since starting MJ. Quite the opposite.

LaurieFairyCake · 06/11/2024 13:14

It's not just 'filling a hole' with food, it's that food is also supposed to be a joyful thing and related to nurture and all our cultures

When we quiet the food noise we also quiet a part of life that has been really enjoyable (yes, also difficult) like celebrations and birthdays and how we were fed as children and how we feed our own children

I don't feel depressed but it is a part 'missing' Confused

Even the simple stuff like 'oh I will pop up the shops and buy a nice piece of trout' or whatever - it's GONE, I just don't give a crap about food

All the planning, all the fun, disappeared!

BleachedJumper · 06/11/2024 13:23

Yes, for me like I said I don’t think of it as a negative, or sadness/depression. It’s how you frame it I suppose, a calmness and flatlining of emotions, not seeking a high/low cycle emotionally.

I can totally relate to going down the “MJ rabbit hole” - am I have been obseesed with reading about it and listening to podcasts about it. I have accepted nothing else particularly to learn but doesn’t stop me looking. Meanwhile my house is desperate for a massive declutter!!!!.

weaseleyes · 06/11/2024 14:14

I would also be on the shortarse mounjaro thread. I similarly get told by my app I can eat 1300 to lose weight, but I only lose on about 800 and maintenance is usually around 1200, which is depressing. I think these calculators are just very generic and obviously can't take into account things like weight/diet history. I've gained and lost probably an entire village over the years, and I think it takes its toll!

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 05/11/2024 18:34

That's interesting @OrangesAndLemonz. I've finished antibiotics for my UTI but it still feels a bit weird. I will keep an eye on it.

Well I'm down another lb today as I've been too anxious to eat because of the ADHD assessment. I was diagnosed with combined ADHD today.

Congrats on officially joining the ND club. There is some recent research evidence that suggests unmedicated ADHD has a significant role to play in adult obesity.

I can totally believe that. My poor impulse control has definitely caused lots of bad food choices. I'm hoping that being treated for ADHD will help me maintain the weight loss.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 06/11/2024 15:27

@BleachedJumper I was saying to DP that I want to move away from processed foods, just because eating seems simpler. Simple solutions to problems.

Both he and DS are well and truly salad dodgers though, if it possibly could have come from the earth or even remotely resemble an animal neither of them will try it.

I think the pancreatitis was a huge wakeup call for DP though but he's struggled with new foods all his life.

In the meantime I'll be sat over here eating carrot batons on my own.

I'm still enjoying cooking and buying food.
I think what I'm eating is benefitting DH who isn't overweight, but is diabetic.

And for the first time in 18 years, I weigh less than him.

QueenOfHiraeth · 06/11/2024 18:20

@LaurieFairyCake A part missing is kind of what I meant by a hole to fill but you have summed it up perfectly there. Food is such a big part of life and its absence is felt keenly.
I once had a patient who was morbidly obese with numerous health issues but turned down bariatric surgery on the NHS because she said even the thought felt like a bereavement and she was worried that, if there was any sort of disaster, she could starve. No amount of advice could change her fears

LaurieFairyCake · 06/11/2024 18:44

That's an interesting story Smile

Also for me I have never had any disordered eating or any problems with food - loads of obese people don't.

My 'overeating' is simply because no one on the planet can be happy to only eat 800 ish calories every day. And that's what I would have had to do to keep to a healthy BMI.

Its sheer willpower that I didnt get above 15 stone as what that 5 stone extra represents is me eating about 1100 calories a day for 35 years. It took me 35 years to put that 5 stone on.

My sister who is exactly the same as me had less 'willpower' (what a stupid word) - I should say 'wasn't a total control freak like me' and she ate more normally (but still 1500/1600 a day) and got to 30 stone !

Mounjaro simply allows me (and her) to eat little enough that we can lose weight. That's the same for everyone, it's just the numbers are different.

I've always eaten fuck all, now I eat less than fuck all Grin

IHateMozzies · 06/11/2024 20:38

My pen arrived today and I had my first dose. I have some exante shakes and and quite easily get through breakfast and lunch with only them, the hunger sets in on an evening. I’m hoping this will stop the evening hunger!
