Hi team MJ! I'm 15 weeks in, with loads to lose, happy with my progress and hoping to reach my GW next year but -

OH MY GAHD I'M LOSING A LOT OF HAIR THIS WEEK! 😥

Literally handfuls after each shower the past 3 days. It had been noticeable before that too but I was almost in a panic attack yesterday, felt like half my hair sliding towards the drain...

So - I've been away on holidays, maybe was a bit lax with protein and no supplements. Am back on those today - Biotin, Omega 3, collagen. Might also add in Vit D (though got plenty of sun on holiday!) and zinc.

GP has agreed to give me a blood test next week (soonest they had) to check my wonky thyroid and rule out anaemia.

Anyone else got any advice to share?! If I have to be bald to be a healthy weight then I guess I'll take it but would MUCH rather have some hair left at the end of this process... 😩

3wDavid · 19/08/2024 17:15

@WoolyMammoth55 I think hair loss is pretty common with weight loss, especially if you have lost a lot quickly. It will normalize again, it’s usually short-lived, and nothing really to worry about. You won’t go bald. But yes some supplements and a blood test won’t hurt.

SilenceInside · 19/08/2024 17:16

Does anyone use ASDA? I am not getting a usable screen when I try to reorder for my next pen. Nothing seems to load for the first step of the questionnaire and there's nothing to click on or continue with.

I've messaged them, but just wondered if anyone else knows what's going on?

ThatEdgyLemonSheep · 19/08/2024 18:05

took week 7 of 5mg on Sunday but felt more hungry then usual and managed to have a "binge" on crisps. I say binge but it probably wasn't as much as I think. Felt really sick after and couldn't stand the smell of the crisps when my husband ate them.
travelled on holiday today and seem to have the dreaded sulphur burps 😩 hoping after a day today of eating much better I will be back to no side effects tomorrow 🤞

Try adding an iron supplement also with vitamin c (helps iron absorption). For women's hair health iron levels need to be the higher side of the normal range. Normal range is also extremely wide (35 to 145 mcg/dL) so I was within the healthy range but right down at the bottom. Dermatologist advised me to get it above 70 and keep it there.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 19/08/2024 19:17

Feel you on the hair loss. I've had a lot of hair loss due to stress over the years.

It feels mighty unfair that it's always head hair. Why can't I lose my chin whiskers or ever prickly moustache?!

This happened to me and I opened it on Chrome instead of Safari and it worked fine.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 19/08/2024 19:21

I feel like the most idiotic person alive when I ask this

Just done jab 2, can I have a bath?😅

SilenceInside · 19/08/2024 19:28

@Sassenach85 thanks, I tried Chrome and Firefox on my desktop and Safari on my phone. I'll try some other browsers whilst I wait for them to get back to me.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 19/08/2024 19:28

@Callmejudith I made sure I had eaten before I donated and feel fine now.

Funnily enough I'm due my jab on Wednesday morning so not that different to you.

No problems at all with my iron levels which was nice as usually I fail the first iron test and pass the second!

The doner carer was completely thrown by the Mounjaro and looked through all of her booklets, then the senior nurse came and also had never heard of it. It was weird telling them because I have not told a soul in real life that I'm doing this and the two people I now have told didn't have a clue what I was talking about!

butterfly0404 · 19/08/2024 10:45

Most of my diet is protein and veg, definitely getting enough protein in. No Need to worry about time of the month, I'm 58, had a surgical menopause 18 years ago.

If I eat more than 1000 cals I gain, that's what's got me to this weight. If nothing else I've begun to understand how my body functions, I can't now tolerate pasta, white bread, anything high fat. Have reduced my sugar intake to bare minimum and anything sweet now tastes awful, even yoghurt I'm finding too sweet.

Could be the weather, definitely feel a bit 'puffy'.

I gained on week 3 (period) stalled weeks 4 and 5 and last week, week 6 just about lost 1lb ! I felt, and still feel quite pissed off by it 🙄
I also find if I eat more than 1200 I will gain 🙄 I have rarely gone over that and since being on 5mg have 100% suppression.
Im really really trying to increase protein as much as possible but find it so hard because I am not a fan of milkshake drinks
I guess slow is better than nothing but I do feel a bit resentful when I see others having huge losses and there's me cant even shift a stone

It was chrome on my phone that eventually worked for me 👍🏻

SilenceInside · 19/08/2024 20:30

@Sassenach85 tried Chrome and Firefox on my phone, and every browser I have installed on my desktop, in ordinary and incognito mode and after disabling and clearing all caches and saved data. I've only managed to do it on my partners phone, as I've never logged onto or visited their website on that device before today. It's very annoying! But at least I've ordered and it was accepted. Hope they sort out whatever the issue is before I try and reorder next time.

Ifyounevergiveup · 19/08/2024 20:30

@Pinkyp22 have you tried protein bars? I know real food is better but if you’re having to keep calories low (I do too thanks to underactive thyroid and PCOS) they are a good way to get protein. Personally I love Grenade chocolate chip salted caramel and Tesco have them on a Clubcard deal at the mo! Also their salted caramel protein shake is delicious, I don’t like protein shakes either but I make an exception for that one!

Don’t fret about slow pace, but if you need to vent, pop over and shout at us on the Slow Losers Club thread…by definition everyone there knows how it feels!

BatFaceGrrrll · 19/08/2024 21:00

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease you could hang upside down like a bat if you fancied it 😀

Yes you can have a bath

I've left a little bruise, I don't think I've quite nailed the right spot yet

SwimingSummer · 19/08/2024 21:07

@Pinkyp22 i don’t drink protein shakes to get around 90g protein a day but via real food netting 1200c a day. What sort of things do you like to eat can we help suggest things? Boiled Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Yogurt, Nuts? I eat mostly full fat Greek yogurt with nuts n seeds n fruit for 400c breakfast, 400c lunch is often egg salad or tuna or cheese salad and 400c dinner tonight was minced turkey & beans in a tomato based sauce with small portion of mashed potato plus a yogurt for desert. If I’m really struggling I did try the clear protein lemon drink 22g but that’s mainly for days I’ve been running or doing strength training and used up more calories.

Thank you I will have a look.
I don't have a sweet tooth, I actually dobt really a great deal of sugar, so have never really been interested in the protien bars, plus they seem to have a lot of calories in?
I have PCOS too

I did try the clear whey juice drink and I really wasn't keen.
Im eating a lot of chicken, tuna and eggs. I find Im not really fancying a lot and quite a lot if things turn my stomach.
I have greek yogurt with frozen cherries, nuts/ chia seeds and raisins
Lots of tuna / chicken salads. Scrambled egg with cottage cheese and ryvita is a favourite at the moment.
Im going to try green thi curry tomorrow, but not sure what I can substitute rice with, Im not keen on brown rice

BatFaceGrrrll · 19/08/2024 21:34

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease think that's quite common, as is bleeding from time to time. It feels like such a minefield in the first month or so doesn't it?

Both times now, even though I'm SURE I've gone straight into my stomach, it's looking like I've gone in sideways!

I also felt the cold patch under my skin tonight from where the medication was 😅🤣 I suppose it's not the end of the world but it's just funny

Currently desperately scrolling through Vinted to see if I can find my favourite winter coat on there but three sizes smaller. No success yet. 😭

This!
Last Christmas my partner got me the Barbour coat I'd been fauning over for the last year. I got to wear it a couple times. It's now 2 sizes too big and we're nowhere near cold weather yet 😢

That is really helpful to know, thank you! Just checked my last set of results and I’m down at the bottom too. Back on the (gentle) iron supplement again then!

They’re 226 calories and one keeps me going all day, but they might be too sweet for your taste! There’s not much else I can have for that number of calories which stops me being hungry for as long.

you were asking about a rice substitute; have you tried orzo pasta? Might work!

I useTesco frozen cauliflower rice as a rice substitute. Not really like rice but just enough bite in it to use with a dish that I might previously have had rice.
