Hi lovelies,

I’ve posted recently with my struggles achieving significant weight loss on MJ, and a lot of you showered me with support and love, for which I’m very grateful.

I’m afraid I’ve got the icing on the misery cake this week. After weeks of microscopic losses, I somehow find myself 3kg heavier this week. My appetite and consumption haven’t changed at all (week 5 of 15mg). Has this setback ever happened to anyone?

3kg in a week and eating like you normally do? This ain’t a weight gain from eating, that’s just not possible. I feel so much for you from your last post and now this. But the thing which crosses my mind is 💩! - a full bowel can be very heavy and Mj slows digestion down a tremendous amount. And if you’re drinking a lot of water that’s heavy too…and do I recall that you said you have a sedentary job? It just sounds to me like it’s more likely stuff “hanging around “ than anything else. Please don’t get disheartened or discouraged, try to be objective; I’m sure if a friend said to you she’d gained half a stone in a week while eating less you’d be concerned for her, not critical, so do the same for yourself. I’m not qualified to know anything about endocrine issues but getting them checked has been recommended on these threads before…I’m just hoping you can hold on while the answer is found and not feel like this is anything other than a weird blip which needs explaining. Hang on in there, Chuckle, and keep posting ✊🏻💕

Thank you @Ifyounevergiveup ! Entirely possible it could be constipation - I’ve been rather bloated this week. I know stress and mental health issues makes my constipation worse.

I’ll check back in next week with hopefully a correction! It’s all a bit shit, literally 😂😂

Eyf · 17/08/2024 20:02

I find this medicine fascinating. I haven’t eaten all day (not intentional, busy decorating and got carried away!) but I have no urgency or desire to have a meal. It’s weird. I did have a gastric sleeve on 2021 so I’m wondering how MJ may affect that?

Ifyounevergiveup · 17/08/2024 20:06

@Chucklesisters you mean you’re hoping it’s a bit shit 😉; there’s been a lot of recommendations on here over time about addressing this issue but very recently someone posted that the best answer for immediate relief was a glycerine suppository. Again, outside my personal experience but a trip to the local chemist might be a good day out! - if only to rule out the possibility (or rule it in, in which case happy days) x

Addictedtobeauty · 17/08/2024 20:47

@Chucklesisters Check your scales. Mine have to be in the exact same spot on the bathroom floor each day if I want to compare day on day. Any deviation results in a different weight. I also weigh at the same time, first thing (after the morning horse wee, of course) before eating or drinking anything. When the battery is low, they go a bit rogue too.

Thank you for this. That's so good to hear. I'm going to Sicily. I've never been there before but love history, so really looking forward to it; albeit a little nervous. I'm a similar age to you. I'm hoping it will be the first of many if I enjoy it. Having been a single parent and money being tight, I haven't had much opportunity to travel so part of the reason for this weight loss journey is to, hopefully, have a healthier old age so I can continue to help with childcare for my grandkids and to enjoy myself!

Where in Sicily are you visiting? We were down in the south a couple of years ago and visited the Valley of Temples near Agrigento and it was truly extraordinary. It's an amazing Greek (!) archaeological park and well worth a visit if you can squeeze it in.

I will warn you though that in involved a 2 ish mile walk for us from one side of the park where our bus dropped us off, to the other where it picked us up (not sure what the deal was if you drove) and there was almost no shade the entire way.

Still worth it but just needs some planning, as when we were there it was 35 degrees by 10am and 39+ by lunchtime.

Are your bathroom scales related to my bathroom scales?

I've had to tape where they are to be placed, had the spirit level out and everything after the scales kept changing with seconds between weighs.

I think I also boasted too soon about the prune juice helping. I feel heavier and bloated than ever. I want someone to come and do bicycle legs with me like you do with babies.

Alternatively I've been considering soupifying everything I eat. Surely if it's soupy going in it will be soupy coming out. There was no science or logic used in forming that thought.

diian · 17/08/2024 21:51

Not sure if this is a related NSV, but I have noticed when I sneeze, I no longer piss myself! Does losing 1.5 stone affect your bladder/ pelvic floor? I am not going to be jumping on trampolines any time soon, but it is fabulous to be out on a walk, sneeze or cough without worrying!

Oh God I hope so. 🤞🤞🤞

I took my teenage bladder for granted.

I could well imagine there is less pressure from weight in the region so a sneeze no longer has the same impact in pushing out a bit of pee.

In all seriousness, yes it will. Especially if you carry a lot of your weight around your abdomen. Less weight pressing down leaves you more wriggle room for sneezes. And now the seriousness bit is out of the way, I can giggle at this week’s best NSV by far!

Addictedtobeauty · 17/08/2024 22:08

NHS Squeezy app is very good at reminding you to do your kegels. It does help.

Choux · 17/08/2024 22:09

Yep - it's a benefit of losing weight.

"Excess weight puts a strain on the pelvic floor, which makes it weaker. Shedding some pounds will go a long way to easing stress incontinence."

diian · 17/08/2024 22:25

I can start ignoring the Tenna Lady adverts then!! Who would have thought sneezing when the sun comes out can bring so much joy rather than fear that you are turning into an incontinent old woman!

Doubledded123 · 17/08/2024 22:34

One question, do you pay for it or is it on the nhs?

ItsAlrightDarling · 17/08/2024 22:37

I think the vast majority on here pay for it.

Most of us get a private prescription. Have a look at the WallyWaffles link in the OPs first post. It's very useful, explains almost everything you need to know.

A lot of NHS prescriptions are still for semaglutide AFAIK, not all areas have moved over to tirzepatide, but you've still got to follow your local areas weight loss management services for approx a year actively before they'll consider you for the medical route however this again depends on your trust and it could take longer.

Thanks. The valley of the temples is on the list - in fact, what I'm most excited about. Hopefully it won't be as hot as that in the first week of October. If I can lose a few more pounds before then, the walking should be easier.

Fromthesidelines · 18/08/2024 00:00

@diian I really want this NSV!

AnnieMcFanny · 18/08/2024 00:21

As you lose weight there will be a reduction in visceral fat stored in your abdominal region which will result in your organs being under much less pressure. They won’t be so squashed.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 18/08/2024 09:27

No shift in weight today. AHHH

I figured that if I think light thoughts and eat only the dust that gathers on the work surfaces and I turn my water to steam before I inhale it I might break into the 102kg barrier in 3-10 business weeks.

It is interesting how particularly effective this drug is in shifting fat from the abdominal region.

Am going to end up looking even more saggy and Bagpuss like by the end of it, but am resigned to tucking away surplus skin in big pants. Will be a small price to pay for being much healthier.

😂Let me know if it works and I'll adopt the approach to try and break my own stall!
