Can anyone already with Oushk describe what their packaging is like?

I just received a delivery from Zava with their new packaging and it actually was much worse for me, the ice pack has always been completely thawed but the pens were still cold - this time the pen wasn't cold. I'm a bit disappointed as I assumed the new packaging would be better. It takes a bit longer to get to me as I'm not in England, it was dispatched on Thurs evening. The pen will be fine and I've put it straight into the fridge - thankfully our post always comes first thing in the morning so at least it doesn't sit in a van for hours!

My 2 deliveries with them have been fine - ice packs, wool, cold pen, 6 needles, 6 swabs, tape measure . You can choose dpd or RM or pick up in Manchester and pick delivery day weeks ahead.

Sorry for all my waffle, I'm pondering a lot out loud today 😂😂

Someone posted the reminder about Curate which I had forgotten about! I would definitely feel happier if Oushk removed themselves from Curate. Curate seem to be very unreliable and all over the place.

NCfor24 · 17/08/2024 11:49

I think I need to get in touch with Oushk... I've not long switched back from Zava to MedExpress due to maintenance support but I had previously started a little stock pile in fear of being cut off. I have 1 dose of my current pen left and 2 further pens in my fridge. I really don't need to buy any more but will have to as my reorder window will close!
I'm a stone ish away from maintenance/goal weight and wondering whether Hira would support me signing up for £20 a month Flexi plan whilst I use up my existing supplies. I know I want to be on MJ forever for the mental health benefits nevermind weight maintenance. I guess all I can do is ask. My collection of doctors letters shows how often I've purchased and evidences my stockpile!

I think I saw someone else mention this but since moving up to 7.5 I can't brush my teeth without gagging. Anyone else having the same and found a solution?

I have this. It probably started at about 7.5mg for me too. Not every time I clean them but most times on days 1-5 after a jab. Usually wears off by day 6-7.

I also often gag when cleaning my teeth the morning after drinking alcohol. No idea why.

FarriersGirl · 17/08/2024 12:01

@NCfor24 I am in a very similar position to you 6kgs to go to GW and a couple of pens extra in the fridge. I would be very interested in the outcome if you do contact Oushk.

Choux · 17/08/2024 12:02

The Chequp ad someone posted last night is pretty misleading. Yes the first pen is cheaper from them than Boots but 12.5mg doses are exactly the same price from both suppliers. Except Boots say you get 10% off for repeat orders so at higher doses it's cheaper from Boots than Chequp!

So yes there is a small saving by starting with Chequp instead of Boots but the 2.5mg pen from Chequp is still £149. My supplier Bolt offers the first pen for £125 and is cheaper than Chequp at higher doses too!

I actually messaged directly with Hira about this before I moved over as I was concerned. I won't go into all the details as it was complicated but basically as an experienced prescriber, it's not unusual to work across different companies simultaneously. Oushk and Curate are completely separate companies and she does some prescribing work for them while they develop their own company including new distribution center which seems to have solved the problems reported here a few weeks ago. She is definitely not into the Tiktok influencers model of advertising nor the model of giving patients discounts for signing up new customers (I've seen her push back on requests for this from some people so i know that's true) - she wants to encourage the building of relationships between patients and her company (for patient safety and to improve outcomes but obvs also as a business model) rather than short term discount chasing. I was satisfied but can only tell you what I feel.

Similar for me too. Need to reorder this week but from previous early ordering I have three full pens in the fridge - a 10, a 12.5 and a 15 so big doses. I am 10lb from a BMI of 25.

In theory 2 of those pens should get me to a BMI under 25. But if I don't keep ordering I will be cut off. I don't know how long I want to stay on it, how low I want to get my weight down to or how I will feel and look in 10lbs, 20lbs time. So I can't say what I want to do for maintenance yet.

I feel like my only option is to keep ordering every 4-5 weeks and using the pens in the order of expiry and hope a plan becomes apparent in the next couple of months.

TheShellBeach · 17/08/2024 12:16

I've been ordering from Medino.
The pharmacist there is really helpful.

Just noticed my post from yesterday got deleted. Wasn't sure why, as it was my first time posting after years of lurking, and I didn't think I'd posted anything vastly different to the 1000s of other posts I've read; but looking at it now I think it might have been because I added my voy referral code? If so apologies, didn't realise this wasn't allowed any more and was just trying to be helpful as I'd benefited from another posters code. Will be more careful with what I post though as don't want to cause trouble for these boards, they're amazing. Hope everyone's having a good weekend ☺️

This kicked in for me after a few weeks, suddenly my sugar free orange squash tasted unbearably sweet. Haven't had one biscuit or chocolate bar (apart from chocolate in my protein bars but I eat those for an easy protein boost, not for cravings), which is bizarre. I've always had chocolate biscuits for bars every single day, even when doing WW etc in the past. I've some in my wardrobe (we've always kept a supply hidden from the kids 😂) but they've not been touched.

I really want to know more about this - is it because insulin resistance made us crave sweet things before or what? I can't figure it out but would love to know how MJ stops cravings. I suppose it can't be just that as it clearly reduces other cravings too eg alcohol.

Interesting you said about the squash as that's what I used to drink previously.

Now I tend to stick to water out of choice

There's a thread solely for discount codes :)

Does anyone else find they no longer enjoy really sweet stuff? ...out for a walk and decide to get a mocha as I haven't had one since starting MJ and used to really enjoy...well I had to throw it out after two mouthfuls as it was far too sweet

I am not generally sweet toothed anyway (Carbs and savoury stuff are my downfall) but had a cocktail yesterday and it was too sweet for me, and I felt sick afterwards. It's not the alcohol component as I had a gin and tonic the other which was fine but these full of pineapple juice and banana syrup.

Ifyounevergiveup · 17/08/2024 15:28

@DreamingofGinoclock I had a devastatingly upsetting experience last weekend when DP brought home my very favourite white chocolate and raspberry flapjack from a local bakery and it just tasted like sugary gloop. Here endeth an era…!

Oh no that's such a shame!

Although I'm hoping over the course of getting to goal weight this change in taste means I find new favourites that are overall better for me (and also be healthier )

Actually thinking about it I had a glass of wine at home the other night (the first one that hasn't been when out since MJ) and it definitely tasted sweeter than usual so much so I asked my husband if it was one we hadn't had before

I also came here to say this! I had just moved to oushk when the curate stuff came out and I also spoke to Hira about it and she completely put my mind at ease about it.

I’ve ordered from 4 pharmacies on my journey so far and never had anywhere near the personalised service that I’ve had from oushk. So glad I moved to them and unless something major happens I’ll stay there for the duration.

I'm finding things too sweet and too salty these days. I used to love a bowl of Cornish vanilla ice cream but the thought of it now makes me heave. I also used to love green olives on a salad but they seem so salty now, I don't bother with them.

I made a Greek salad for my dinner yesterday and ended up leaving most of the green olives! Even the feta seemed saltier than usual.

Also really enjoy 70% dark chocolate nowadays whereas previously I used to find it really bitter.

I wonder what will happen when we stop MJ (disclaimer - don’t ever want to find out!)

Thank you for this. That's so good to hear. I'm going to Sicily. I've never been there before but love history, so really looking forward to it; albeit a little nervous. I'm a similar age to you. I'm hoping it will be the first of many if I enjoy it. Having been a single parent and money being tight, I haven't had much opportunity to travel so part of the reason for this weight loss journey is to, hopefully, have a healthier old age so I can continue to help with childcare for my grandkids and to enjoy myself!

@Fromthesidelines, Hi there. Oh my goodness it’s just yesterday evening that I was talking to my children about my next trip and said, I can’t make up my mind between Sicily for the history or Sardinia because of how the swimming and beaches looks Their reply was - do both. So thats what I’m going to do. A few days in each. I love Italy and have been umpteen times, the Romans are my thing. I never get fed up of Italy.

Like you Im after a healthier old age and I understand about the grandchildren. I have 8.

Im excited for you. For the adventure you’re going on.

Hi lovelies,

I’ve posted recently with my struggles achieving significant weight loss on MJ, and a lot of you showered me with support and love, for which I’m very grateful.

I’m afraid I’ve got the icing on the misery cake this week. After weeks of microscopic losses, I somehow find myself 3kg heavier this week. My appetite and consumption haven’t changed at all (week 5 of 15mg). Has this setback ever happened to anyone?

If you're sure you're eating in a calorie deficit then you need to talk to a doctor, my understanding is MH doesn't make you lose weight, it makes being in a deficit easier.

ItsAlrightDarling · 17/08/2024 19:20

Agree that you should have a chat with your GP. If you’re eating in a calorie deficit and not losing weight, you might need to see an endocrinologist.
