Hello brand new thread!

I haven’t posted for a long time but I did post a couple of times (and read everything avidly) back in June when I started.

Just thought I’d update, 9 weeks in:

SW 15st 12lb BMI 32.9
CW 14st 5lb BMI 29.9

Loss so far 1st 7lb.

I’m delighted with that!

Pinkbendyman · 07/08/2024 07:47

Good morning fellow losers!

A quick update on my MJ journey:

Start date 16th May

SW 15st 11lbs BMI 32.6

CW 13st 5lbs BMI 27.6

Total weight loss in 12 weeks = 2 stone and 6lb!

Love MJ and love this thread!!

Mrsmounjaro · 07/08/2024 07:55

12th jab tomorrow (started 23rd May)

SW 14st 10lb
CW 13st 1lb

Currently on 7.5mg

Wont lie im a bit disappointed i havent lost more 😪 really need to stop comparing myself to others losses i know. Oh well- onwards and downwards

GoSummer676 · 07/08/2024 08:17

Thanks for the new thread. I started mid June have lost 20lbs on 2.5mg, but more importantly to me I’ve lost 4inches off my waist of fat and 3” off my bust and hips. I’m down to BMI28.5 hoping to lose another 14-20lbs to get to healthy BMI but I’m short so it’s a real challenge as eating 1000c isn’t much fun. Plus my BMR has dropped now to 1500. So I’m being realistic about what I can actually maintain will be around bmi25-26.

Also just wanted to say thanks for all the support here. I started in march at 77.4kg and today I am 65kg with a BMI of 23. My life has changed completely. I am so much more confident and energetic. Feel a total release and relief from the food noise. I didn’t have any chafing in the hot weather! I am getting married this weekend and I am wearing something that I know will look great. Keep going everyone!

Totally agree about the confidence and self-esteem - my biggest NSV

Thanks for the new thread @ObsidianTree
Someone mentioned poor sleep on the end of the last thread - mine's dreadful since being on MJ. I'm knackered all day, drop off OK, then wake around 3 or 4 and find it impossible to go back to sleep. Someone suggested magnesium but it gave me bad guts so that was no good.
It's strange how different people have different reactions - I know some report much better sleep and feel great energy during the day too, which I've never had either as I've felt generally lethargic and flat since my 1st jab 3 months ago.
Worth it though!

Me too with the poor sleep. I keep waking up at 4-5am and then only drifting off just before I need to get up. I then spend the day feeling sleepy. I'm hoping this wears off at some point because it's so annoying.

Little update
SW 15st 4.8
CW 13st 6.2
GW maybe I can dream of 10st 7?

I mean it’s kind of a dreamy problem to have but sad the way society puts so much value on appearances
https://www.newsweek.com/2024/08/23/weight-loss-drugs-dark-side-ozempic-mounjaro-wegovy-1932180.html

Can't help feeling that that article is just one more desperate angle to find negatives in GLP weightloss.
It's like society really wants obese people to stay obese because it gives them somebody to look down on and makes them feel validated for being "thin"

It's infuriating

KrankyKumquat · 07/08/2024 10:11

I agree @Smallsalt. Scaping the barrel here I think. Traumatised by being 'treated like a celebrity'?! The 'dark side' of weight loss?! Interesting that most of the interviewees are psychotherapists.... A bit too much navel gazing and self-obsession going on. That's not to say fat-stigma doesn't exist and that a re-evaluation of self-identity isn't a part of living well after weight loss but I think most of us know we have bigger things to worry about than a slight improvement in how people behave towards us when we're thinner - the state of the world, being a woman, ageing, etc.

Thanks for the new thread

3wDavid · 07/08/2024 10:24

Morning all!

Congratulations to all the losses, loved seeing everyone’s summary to date, and NSVs!!! Definitely a favorite way to start the day!

Not my official weigh-day but to share my little update anyway:

Week 10.5 on MJ, just moved up to 5mg on Monday and feeling totally fine/no side effects
SW: 107.2 kg / 16 st 12.5 lbs / 236.5 lbs
CW: 91.2 kg / 14 st 5 lbs / 201 lbs

I’m exactly half-way to my target of getting down to healthy BMI. I am really hopeful I could get there by December 1 (if not sooner; sooner would be nicer lol).

3wDavid · 07/08/2024 10:28

Also, if you remember my worry about the warm pen on Monday…to whoever suggested I contact Eli Lilly to ask them to asses - Thank you!!!!

I did, and I wanted to share the response in case anyone else finds themselves in the same situation:

“I have performed an assessment based on the Moun-jaro KwikPen being exposed for a maximum timeframe of 60 hours to a maximum temperature of 27°C.
The result is: THIS PRODUCT MAY BE USED.
Lilly has data to support the drug product experienced minimal to no detectable loss in potency and physical stability. The product may be used, if you choose to do so. The in-use period and/or shelf life is not affected if you continue to store the product as prescribed on the product's label.
This assessment decision is only applicable for the product, time, temperature and product condition details reported for this specific excursion.
An additional product quality evaluation would be required to determine the cumulative impact of multiple excursions if there are any future temperature excursions with the products) involved in this assessment.
A product quality impact assessment is provided as a means of customer support for unexpired product in the original Lilly container. It does not replace the product's recommended storage and handling condi-tions. Lilly products must be stored as directed in the package literature.”

They said that it’s fine, and I asked if I now need to use it within 30 days (which I wasn’t going to do anyway), and they said no, the 30 days starts upon first use.

I just thought this was really reassuring, and it comes from the horses mouth. I’m not sure I would have felt so relieved and reassured if MedExpress had told me this. Speaking of which, I am yet to hear back about my complaint from Monday! Although now I feel silly for making a big fuss about it, as it’s obviously totally fine…

I bought my first month on Voy, second with zava, I'm going to go up to 7.5 for my 3rd month. Where is the best place to get it? Faffing about with setting up accounts and photos and weigh ins is really annoying but i don't want to pay full price if I don't have to. What does everyone do?

Any tips for dealing with constipation? I've not been for days. Am drinking loads of water, now eating prunes and apples! Still nothing.

I take psyllium husk tablets daily, which seem to keep me regular. Maybe looking into fiber supplement like this, or similar? Also prune juice works a treat for me, and someone a while back even mentioned prune baby pouch. 😄

Time4changeagain · 07/08/2024 11:23

Thanks for the new thread @ObsidianTree

Great losses everyone!
10 weeks in for me tomorrow

SW 16st 0lb
CW 14st 2lb
Total loss 1st 12lb

Think I’m going to stay on 5mg for now, I’ve had little to no side effects so far up until this last week. I have felt terrible, Think I’ve had most of them! Headache, sulphur burps, acid reflux, sickness & constipation. My totm decided to show up for the first time since starting MJ too so that probably had a lot to do it. Not going to lie with having pcos, I was really enjoying not having to deal with all the pain every month 😂

katinthehattt · 07/08/2024 11:25

Thanks @3wDavid. I'm going hard on the prunes, will get some of those psyllium husk sachets too. Urgh!!

katinthehattt · 07/08/2024 11:29

Ps currently getting my car cleaned, the waiting area is literally under the air vent of a Greggs. Unhelpful smell of pastry and sausage rolls going on!!!

Hi @3wDavid - it was me who recommended the Eli Lilly chat function - I had exactly the same response, which I found very reassuring. It's unfortunate that there is conflicting information about pens, temperatures and storage online, but I'll trust EL on that one. As they say, their advice is based on individual circumstances so probably best to check with them if people have concerns about warm pens.
