Storms a coming!

Lightening map shows a huge storm in the south west heading central England. Is anyone experiencing it? Please send it up to me 😁

And just like that it’s suddenly leaving….

Possibly moving away now from our part of SE London. Rain still bucketing down. Can't remember the last time we had a storm like this.

Still going on in South East London here - reminds me of the storms I used to love watching when we were on holiday abroad when I was a child.

I am pleased because I saw some fork lightening but a bit annoyed I didn’t see this thread earlier as I have left all of my cushions out on the sofas outside!

I'm in East London and I thought it had finally passed, but there was just another clap of thunder........but the rain has stopped so I think it's moving on.
That was the biggest storm I've experienced for a very long time.

Another checking in from north London - was woken up by the heavy rain so have been sat watching the lightening and rain for the last few hours. wow!

Wow that was amazing- south London here. Don't think I've seen such lightening here before. Not sure my kids have slept through It. It was so loud it woke me up around 4ish. Now it's like it never happened!

Got woken up by the thunder and sat outside and watched it. Disappeared to south east now from West London.

Yep it hit SE London about 40 mins ago and can just hear the last faint rumbles of thunder now. Have never experienced thunder that intense for that long. Every time I kept thinking it was going to move off it just got louder. Really crazy and unsettling

Does this mean it won’t be as hot as forecast today and tomorrow

Met Office still saying 34 for today.

I think the storm will make the ground cooler but clearer skies might mean fiercer sun?

I'm in north Essex and dp thought he heard thunder. It's been raining for a while but stopped bow.

Kinda pathetic in my part of Kent. Torrential rain, a few flashes and one loud crash of thunder that sounded like an explosion.....that was it!🙁

But honestly it's like climate change clearing its throat and tapping its watch.

I like this. It's exactly that. A warning that we're in dangerous territory.

No storm here in the Midlands (Worcs). Just a sprinkling of rain and lovely clouds. Wish it would arrive. It's hard to believe we're going to reach temperatures of 38 the next few days.

I’m in Kent. Storm woke me up at 3.30am and been awake since. Just got up for a cuppa - huge crash of thunder as I was coming downstairs… so loud I nearly fell down them with fright hoping that’s the last of it

Still raining last time I looked but storm seems to have passed.

Think I'll head back to bed for a bit - my feet are cold!

I registered the storm overnight- was very tired so slept through- and the rain is still going a bit here in mid/west Kent

North West Essex - storm being rumbling around for a couple of hours. A very loud bang about 15 mins ago and electricity went off briefly.

That was biblical! Just like PPs described, constant thunder rumbles with the odd crack and lightning.

Garden inspection… reckon it was more than an inch of rain. Lots of plants pummelled but I think they’ll recover. Grass and weeds have visibly grown overnight.
