Lightening map shows a huge storm in the south west heading central England. Is anyone experiencing it? Please send it up to me 😁

My word, it is a whopper isn't it? Looks like it is travelling SW to NE so we might end up with it in a few hours if it doesn't blow itself out. Our local weather forecast does say some rain overnight.

wheretoyougonow · 22/06/2026 18:04

Yes it looks huge. It’s just hitting Bristol and Bath now

Just watching the local news, the news reader (who ironically is reporting how hot it is) is wearing a coat as the thunderstorm has just past through Burnham-on-Sea and she said its heading for Bristol.

DeathWinsAGolfish · 22/06/2026 18:05

So has it bypassed Dorset? It’s v grey here.

lanzinis · 22/06/2026 18:06

VERY loud thunder and heavy rain! Just subsiding where I am but looked almost pitch black about 45 mins ago!

Gettingbysomehow · 22/06/2026 18:07

Im in Glastonbury and its epic. Torrential rain, thunder and lightning. The sky looks like a massive purple and black bruise.

wheretoyougonow · 22/06/2026 18:07

@DeathWinsAGolfish looks like it’s spreading towards Salisbury so time yet to reach Dorset

Oh yep she’s a big ‘un!

Storms a coming!
inigomontoyahwillcox · 22/06/2026 18:07

Sitting in a campsite in north Cornwall - heard a load of thunder earlier and did have quite a bit of rain. Now blue skies and hot, so hoping it’s bypassed us.

BlueRaincoat1 · 22/06/2026 18:08

It's pretty crazy. Strong swirling winds, torrential rain, a constant low rumble of thunder with some louder rumbles, and loads of lightening. It's really dark.

wheretoyougonow · 22/06/2026 18:08

@Gettingbysomehow @lanzinis. Very jealous. Does it feel less muggy now?

How outrageous, this is no where near me and wont come my way.

I love a storm

AlgaeDreams · 22/06/2026 18:10

Please make it to East Mids so I can sleep!

Twoshoesnewshoes · 22/06/2026 18:12

Missed us, 10 miles south of Exeter- it rained lots and went very grey.

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/06/2026 18:12

I'm between Bristol and Bath. It's so dark some of the street lights have come on. It's hammering it down and it's really windy.

wheretoyougonow · 22/06/2026 18:14

It’s spreading over to Wales now. Couple of strikes near Newport and Abercynon

Andy kicking off already?

APurpleSquirrel · 22/06/2026 18:17

Yep I was in that about an hour ago in Taunton. Went very dark (got the washing in) & then a few drops started falling. Had headed in Taunton, went in Primark & the heavens opened! It was very heavy, huge warm rain drops. Got absolutely soaked in my sandals, jeans shorts & tiny umbrella. Lots of thunder & lightning. Temperature has dropped quite a bit from 33 to about 27. Still very cloudy but feels fresher if a bit misty now.

ThatGreenFawn · 22/06/2026 18:18

I'm glad ive just opened my curtains, it was just starting to rain so I managed to get my washing in. The storm is definitely travelling up the Severn, it looks very impressive in the distance!

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/06/2026 18:19

I'm more or less under the big circle

Storms a coming!

😂

BobBobBobbing · 22/06/2026 18:22

I do love a good thunderstorm and that looks a cracker.

Best I ever experienced was Thunder Thursday in Newcastle in 2012. That was epic.

trakehner · 22/06/2026 18:26

I’m so glad there is a thread as I’m home alone (between Bath and Chippenham) and it feels like the apocalypse. The sky started darkening around an hour ago, and got is now dark as midnight. Cars have their lights on. The wind suddenly went insane, doors banging throughout the house with the draft. Terrifying! The rain is now absolutely torrential, thunder and lightening and the electric just went off (for 30 seconds, back on now).
I hope this passes over us soon. I know it sounds silly but it’s actually scary and I’m worrying about my horsies too!

DapperDame · 22/06/2026 18:27

I've got the light on it's so dark! Incredibly heavy rain. (Just outside Bath)

wheretoyougonow · 22/06/2026 18:28

@trakehner. I’m sorry to hear you’re not enjoying it. By the looks of it, it will pass soon. Hold on in there.
