Old thread:https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weather/4767111-spring-weather-watch?page=6&reply=126854914

After the dramatic weather for some over the last few days, mostly covered in the Thunderstorm warning threads, I think it's time to switch to a new thread. After all, we are two weeks into meteorological summer.

Optimistically we turn our eyes towards Spring weather in the hope that we are in the last throes of winter. But March is a capricious month. ... It...

@OhYouBadBadKitten any guesses on what the will be like for inland North Wales (about 40 minutes from Llandudno and in the hills) next weekend ?

I live here, up the valley has had the thunder ⚡ and rain. It gets hotter than the coast being inland, but you're nearer to the lakes so if you're self catering picnics are a must. Do book ahead if eating out in the evening and check where's open for lunch dinner early in the week.

Have a lovely break

Warm/hot but I wouldn't like to forecast any potential storm or shower probability at this range.

I'm sure we had quite a long minute or so of thunder last night but it could have been upstairs moving stuff around 😂

@justasking111 Thank you - we are staying near Llyn Brenig, with relatives who live there - gorgeous part of the world, but it's the first time we have been kid free!!

@OhYouBadBadKitten thank you - Suncream and waterproofs then 😀

Both ECM and GFS have been flirting with very high temperatures next weekend. One GFS ensemble member generated a 38c. It was an outlier run and therefore extremely unlikely to happen, but there's something in the setup that is generating these results.

And still only early summer...

justasking111 · 18/06/2023 23:21

Please God no. I can't function at those temperatures 🙈😢😢

gingercat02 · 19/06/2023 08:17

We had a fair bit of rain on the NE coast overnight. Sunny again now but a few ominous looking clouds hanging around. My garden is very grateful, I'm sure the grass is greener already

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/06/2023 09:54

Scattered thunderstorms about the place today, with perhaps a focus in southern counties of England overnight tonight.

I think the Met Office will end up issuing a thunderstorm warning for around the East Anglia region for tomorrow afternoon, when strong storms may form.

Looking much less crazy hot this weekend than some of the models were hinting at. Which will probably be a relief to most.

Oh I do hope so!

Notonthestairs · 20/06/2023 22:19

We have a big thunderstorm ⛈️ in Hertfordshire. Came out of nowhere. It's so loud!

BiddyPop · 22/06/2023 07:45

We had a bit of respite yesterday as it was a cooler start after the storms on Tuesday. Then it started to heat up during the day and it was stifling again by the evening. Still and warm and muggy today already (car said 21 degrees already).

gingercat02 · 22/06/2023 08:18

Very brief but heavy thunder showers yesterday but hot by 7pm again. The teens have been on the beach most nights this week. Lots of sun forecast until Sunday and then it looks more unsettled here.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/06/2023 08:39

There are some indications that we may be about to transition to cooler, more unsettled conditions as we go into next week.
I guess this sunshine can't last forever.

Sunday looks wet for us. I'm trying to find a lunch venue for a dozen of us to celebrate a belated father's day, driving test celebration that all three generations will enjoy

That's a surprise kitten. And short notice.

Notonthestairs · 22/06/2023 13:41

We are on the southern fringes of the weather warning. In the last few minutes our weather has shifted from bright sunshine to dark grey cloud cover.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/06/2023 13:55

Good idea Gloria.

We're in NW Wales went out at 2pm to sit and enjoy a book in the sunshine n. The sky turned dark the wind got up so I'm back inside. Looking likely for rain. BBC still giving sunshine. Will follow the lightning map I think.
