After the dramatic weather for some over the last few days, mostly covered in the Thunderstorm warning threads, I think it's time to switch to a new thread. After all, we are two weeks into meteorological summer.

Optimistically we turn our eyes towards Spring weather in the hope that we are in the last throes of winter. But March is a capricious month. ... It...

The Daily Mail makes stuff up.

🤣🤣🤣

I was in Cork for the weekend. Lots of muzzle drizzly showers on Saturday (fine misty rain) but warm. My hair was thankful (not!) for the frizz effects...

Yesterday, it was hot again and I was doing garden work - lots of sweat but then around lunchtime there were a bunch of thundery showers - didn't see any lightening but the rumbles weren't loud so I reckon not close, but very big plopped drops of rain...great for the ground but not for finishing the work or then driving home again.

today, back in Dublin, it's grey and cloudy but still muggy and warm. After a hot muggy night...(continuation of the theme for the past week). But a bit of a breeze which is helping it to be fresher.

Yes I couldn't be bothered to add the usual "daily fail" tag line etc.. I find out a very flogger boring repetitive horse.

But they have quoted a met office person and they have said due go x y send z there is any higher some things of heatwave

justasking111 · 26/06/2023 16:10

The daily post flog the doomsday heatwave thing too.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/06/2023 17:15

They haven't quoted a Met Office person as saying there will be two weeks of temperatures above 40c. No meteorologist would ever say this, let alone the Met Office. The quotes from him don't even imply that this is possible. All he says is that there is a greater chance than usual of another heatwave in mid July onwards and seperately that we may see extreme temperatures again at some point and that these extremes could be even worse.

We have rain this morning and looking at the netweather radar, looks like it could be a showery day. That'll save on watering the allotment this evening!

RafaistheKingofClay · 27/06/2023 09:29

I’ve just watered the hanging baskets so that should ensure some rain here.

Crikey.

tapdancingmum · 27/06/2023 15:36

I was in Hyde Park all day Saturday and it was really warm right up to when I got home at 1.00am. Sunday night I had to put a cardigan on and I was pleased I wasn't there then.

At the moment I'm sat by a swimming pool in Spain and it's been 30⁰ today 😀

It's really thick air and 'close", in spite of temps being down.

Dragonfly97 · 29/06/2023 08:59

Slightly fresher air here in north Shropshire this morning, but I'm worried about the reports of a heatwave in July, any news on this please?

TokyoSushi · 29/06/2023 11:28

Oh no, not another July heatwave! Last year was grim!

justasking111 · 29/06/2023 12:25

As kitten has said the weather is the weather. We'll just have to wait and see.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 29/06/2023 20:35

What on earth is going on with the BBC weather forecast? It says 7 degrees from now until tomorrow morning where I live. It is clearly higher than that as folks are walking past our house in shorts eating ice cream!

Same here, except it's also forecasting 7 degrees all day tomorrow too. Highly doubt it in London

BeginningToLookALotLike · 29/06/2023 20:59

Choc how odd!

Notonthestairs · 29/06/2023 21:25

On the BBC app we have 7 from now until 4pm tomorrow when it leaps to 17!

Notonthestairs · 29/06/2023 21:27

GloriaSmud · 29/06/2023 21:19

Netweather are saying no to another heatwave at the moment. (And looking at the GFS, I'd say the same.)

Pretty happy with that. I have some new plants arriving.

FlyingFlamingo · 29/06/2023 21:33

The BBC weather app has lost the plot for me as well. It is saying it’s 7 degrees right now (it really isn’t!) and then it changes between 7 and 17/18 throughout tomorrow at random intervals! The met office says 14-18 which is more sensible (but lower than I’d like for the end of June!)

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/06/2023 21:33

Yes, BBC has lost the plot Grin

BBC lost the plot here too- 7 degrees across the board.
