Old thread:https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weather/4767111-spring-weather-watch?page=6&reply=126854914

After the dramatic weather for some over the last few days, mostly covered in the Thunderstorm warning threads, I think it's time to switch to a new thread. After all, we are two weeks into meteorological summer.

Page 24 | Spring Weather watch | Mumsnet

Optimistically we turn our eyes towards Spring weather in the hope that we are in the last throes of winter. But March is a capricious month. ... It...

Still no rain here, so humid and I'm laid up with a bug. Not amused 🥵

justasking111 · 11/09/2023 12:46

Looking at the long range forecast we're not getting any rain but it's cooler

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/09/2023 14:51

It has been an extraordinary first third of this month. Almost 7c hotter than the mean central england temperature.

I don't think we should decant to the autumn thread quite yet. There's a not insignificant chance of heat returning in the south of England by the weekend. Those of you further north may feel that the autumn thread feels like a better fit. Wink

I'll stay , don't mind this weather 🌡️. Making up for the rest of terrible summer.

We keep getting the odd shower but nothing that looks like the sort of storm that will clear the air. Is ridiculously humid.

Interesting weather here today in London...

Temp says warm ...22 at the moment...but my washing has not dried !

I have had to bring it in and put on the airer.

Thick wet air moisture?

I am sitting in the garden in my nightie with a cuppa ...

So maybe no air movement?

EducatingArti · 12/09/2023 10:07

Massive change here overnight. When I went to sleep it was hot and clammy and 22 degrees in my bedroom. Woke up cold in the early hours to pouring rain an 19degrees. Still very rainy and cool.

Pixiedust1234 · 12/09/2023 10:28

It looks like the rain has settled in for the day. No wind though and still tshirt/shorts temperature. I think the garden will appreciate today even if the bedraggled squirrels don't.

RafaistheKingofClay · 12/09/2023 10:55

Can someone dial down the humidity please?

Temp here has dropped, but there’s not a breath of wind and the humidity is still making it quite unpleasant.

This.

Met office app had it at 93% at 4am. It’s now predicting in the 80s going down further this afternoon. I’m off to the beach where hopefully there’s a breeze.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/09/2023 12:32

Thunderstorm and rain warnings out for today. Most people in the areas won't see anything in the storm area, but if you catch something all the usual storm stuff applies. In the rain area, some parts of Lincolnshire will feel rather dismayed at the prospect of more severe weather.

Perhaps it's time for us to decant to Autumn now?

Come to the SE! More warm weather from tomorrow 🙄

Abracadabra12345 · 13/09/2023 08:25

There was finally the much- promised rain last night and it was glorious. I'm revelling in today's fresher weather and dismayed that temps are forecast to rise yet again tomorrow

Delatron · 13/09/2023 16:15

I didn’t enjoy 30+ degrees but will very much enjoy 24/25 for a few days at this point in the year. We have a long cold winter ahead. Last year it was cold right through until May.

24/25 is simply perfect. Warm enough to sit out but cool enough to sleep.

Do we have a long cold winter ahead of us though? I hear more warm spells are on their way...

Anyway a much fresher day today and like you I'm enjoying the 25 degree sunshine

I think you can pretty guarantee in this country we won’t get a heatwave from Nov onwards. And though they happen in October they are rare. May have the odd warm day this month .

It was 6 degrees overnight here in the SE so lovely and cool to sleep in but warms up nicely in the day. Perfect.

It cools down nicely at night though. Was actually quite chilly last night.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/09/2023 16:13

It depends on your definition of heat wave. While we wouldnt get high summer temperatures, a period of weather anomalously above the average monthly temperature could I guess be called a heat wave. It wouldnt trigger the met office threshold definition though.
