Optimistically we turn our eyes towards Spring weather in the hope that we are in the last throes of winter. But March is a capricious month. ...

It looks like we've a fairly unsettled couple of weeks coming up overall, with plenty of showers and rain. I'm afraid wintry showers are still likely over northern hills for a time yet.

Water storage will be grateful for the rain and at least there's a chance of spectacular cumulus cloudscapes on showery days (as opposed to these grey gloomy days which frankly can sod off)

Can anyone tell me the best place to order nematodes please? All my cauliflowers were eaten last year and I want to try something different.

Very grey here today and quite cool but at least we’ve not had the rain and flooding. Hope everyone is ok.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2023 17:10

Once again yesterday a narrow corridor was swamped with prolonged rain and of course theres the rain today for some. Thankfully, for a little while at least it will be quite a lot drier and hopefully the mud will subside some.

Beware frosts ahead though!

I bought my nemaslugs through amazon. Couldnt get them from anywhere else. The company that sells them sells through the amazon store. I could only get the 100m^2 so I might split it with a friend.

Thank you! I’ll check Amazon.

megletthesecond · 02/04/2023 08:44

I've checked the forecast and it's laundry and seed planting day. Here we go....

Easter weather looking cold. Rats not much fun for kids and adults outdoor events 😭

Perihelion · 02/04/2023 16:19

It's a lovely sunny day in sheltered positions. The wind is only light, but from the NE.

Hedjwitch · 02/04/2023 16:48

Sunshine in Central Fife, albeit with a cool breeze. Its finally not raining!

Happy Easter to those who celebrate. I'm spending a chilly but pleasant morning sat in the garden in the sun.

Looks like some warmth might be starting to creep in during the week of the 16th, with a growing number of ensemble members showing temperatures around 20c in the south, and some showing temperatures higher.

Wish it would come a week earlier though!

Family wedding next weekend (west of London) so fingers crossed for dry weather

lingmerth · 09/04/2023 23:53

What happened to the hottest sunny day today in Birmingham? Cloudy most of the day. The sun broke through briefly but then disappeared. Breezy and cool. Had family round for lunch and uncovered the garden furniture ready for a bask in the sun and ended up staying indoors!

Watch the precip line on the left hand side of the map. As it traverses across southern England it could well sharpen to give some thunderstorms, strong winds and perhaps some hail.

Thunder on and off here in Manchester for the last hour - one heavy down pour too.

BouleBaker · 10/04/2023 20:06

This mornings update was spot on. Brief storm and hail the size of garden peas, no petit pois rubbish!

justasking111 · 10/04/2023 22:18

North West Wales had everything thrown at us today. Tourists clogged up the A55 trying to get home this morning was a gridlocked crawl. Tomorrow and Wednesday looking bad too.

megletthesecond · 13/04/2023 23:06

I swear last summers hot weather has made me less resilient in cooler weather. I can't bear normal spring weather now. Looking forward to next week when it should warm up a bit.

Pixiedust1234 · 14/04/2023 22:48

I really need it to stop raining. Garden is so waterlogged now that the hedgehogs are nearly swimming to get to their dinner. Also had the heating on the last two days 😫

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/04/2023 17:06

Next week looks so much more spring like. Gardeners continue to beware of the risk of frost in rural areas though!

And after a brief Spring interlude, GFS shows things possibly cooling down again next week, with temperatures below zero across many areas by dawn around 26th April onwards. Looking at the GEFS ensembles, the GFS operational run is on the cold end of the possible outcomes, but it has some support from other members.

But to contrast that, the Met Office appears to be going with the warmer scenario that many of the ensemble members show. So will we be warm next week, or putting the heating back on? Time will tell.

I had this weekend coming looking gorgeous on my weather but now suddenly it looks cold and very wet here in the southeast

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/04/2023 14:16

Friday looks like it might be pretty wet, but it's not certain yet.

The weekend just gone was not as good as I was expecting up to Friday. Sunday forecast deteriorated as did Actual.
Today north of Oxford South of Northampton we have overcast, quite light and fairly high, but little direct light to form shadows.

justasking111 · 17/04/2023 15:31

Saturday glorious until 5 then misty. Yesterday bleugh. Today heavy mist. Burned off for an hour and now cloudy. Doesn't look like the seedlings will be moving out of the conservatory into the green house just yet
