This thread covers the expected severe weather on Friday - named Storm Eunice by the met office. At the moment there is great uncertainty, so the met office have put out a very wide yellow weather warning. It looks likely that some regions within the warning area will see gusts of 60-70mph inland, with a small chances of inland gusts above 80mph. The storm also carries the potential for some blizzards, but again there is currently considerable uncertainty.

A separate thread exists for Storm Dudley which is expected Wednesday/Thursday.

Are they? I just very unwisely put the recycling out. I did try and check but couldn't find anything.

Our collections have been cancelled.

Recycling collected on Saturday instead - provisionally - as it was our recycling day. Normal rubbish just collected next Friday as usual.

Very South Cornall :)

@newnameforthehousehunt

I’m in East Anglia, my immediate neighbour has a trampoline which I’m anxious is not secured, AIBU to go round and ask him to check it it secure? Somehow I doubt he has bothered to think about this….
I'd have a word. One of our neighbours has a massive trampoline. Didn't budge an inch during Arwen. Ended up in the corner of the garden during malik (that one did a lot of damage, locally) and flipped into another neighbour's garden, yesterday afternoon.

Are you the Most Southerly, Beryl?

Went for a wet, wild, windy walk down there at the weekend.

Sweetpea84 · 17/02/2022 19:32

Leaving a night early from our holiday back to London. Husband finally agrees it’s for the best 🙄.

FuzzyPuffling · 17/02/2022 19:33

I have a special headache now.

BestIsWest · 17/02/2022 19:34

@Doghairismyglitter

Eerily calm in Cornwall too and I have suddenly developed a splitting migraine, somethings coming
Wales here, calm and I’ve been off work with a migraine this morning.
Porcupineintherough · 17/02/2022 19:34

@Sweetpea84 good decision.

MrsMigginsCat · 17/02/2022 19:34

North Cornwall here We've secured as much outside stuff as we can, brought the gas stove in from the camper, charged all the devices up and made tomorrow's dinner.

FuzzyPuffling · 17/02/2022 19:35

I just got an email from Cornwall Council...bins cancelled, libraries shut, the tip is shut.

BestIsWest · 17/02/2022 19:36

I keep checking the BBC weather forecast in the hope it improves but no.

Girlcat has just come in for a snuggle on my knee. I have told her (and her brother) that they are not to go out tomorrow morning.

BestIsWest · 17/02/2022 19:37

Eek.

Waves to fellow Cornish mumsnetters

School is closed tomorrow, told me this morning that would be the case I wouldn't have believed.

Walking home today it felt eerily quiet. I haven't got a headache yet normally do when the pressures change.

battendown · 17/02/2022 19:39

Another Cornwall person here! Also very southerly. We're in the red zone.

FuzzyPuffling · 17/02/2022 19:40

It's like a lovely Kernow party here! Good luck all!

LadyFlumpalot · 17/02/2022 19:41

I'm feeling slightly vindicated by the amount of people who also get weather related headaches! Whenever I've mentioned it people usually look at me like Hmm

I'm on the cusp of the red zone by about 5 miles
battendown · 17/02/2022 19:45

Agreed that it's been eerily calm here this afternoon - if it weren't for the warning you'd never know it was coming.

canichange · 17/02/2022 19:46

Also a Cornishman!

I'm just on the edge of Bodmin Moor abs our school hasn't closed yet. I think it's an academy thing, as the schools in Liskeard have closed but none in our academy have yet. I'm assuming it'll be closed though, they are doing another risk assessment on the morning. Makes no difference to me really as I'm a SAHM.

I get them, so does DH & my ndn. Tonight's headache is most definitely courtesy of my dc though Hmm
VittysCardigan · 17/02/2022 19:48

North Somerset here. Bins cancelled tomorrow! I'm in a 1st floor flat in Victorian property close to but not directly on seafront. It's going to be a long 24 hours. Have to admit i'm feeling very twitchy.

CornishTiger · 17/02/2022 19:50

I’m two miles out of the red zone but we are really exposed here and even a normal windy day is interesting.

I’ve told the kids to come in if they are scared. It gets very loud.

CornishTiger · 17/02/2022 19:51

Rotary line is closed. Would you take it out and lay it down?!

Motorina · 17/02/2022 19:51

@CornishTiger yes I would.
