uh oh

No idea where this sprung up from, I've been a bit neglectful. Warnings of a short period of 70-80mph winds. Very nasty. Met office warning of widespread disruption, unsurprising if winds are to be that strong.

Can people keep this one bumped please, its going to catch a lot of people out I think.

I just nearly got smacked by tiles blowing off my roof trying to stand my bin back up!!

megletthesecond · 23/02/2017 11:23

Neighbours trampoline currently on its side. Neighbours on holiday. (Hampshire)

I can't bear to watch 🙈.

LIZS · 23/02/2017 11:23

Garden arch has blown over so far but intermittent sunshine

Rabbitwoffle · 23/02/2017 11:31

Wish my flecking awful pagoda affair would bite the dust. So far just all the bulb pots..

Eatingcheeseontoast · 23/02/2017 11:33

North west, flights cancelled, ferry cancelled, wires down, trees down - it's chaos! But seems to be quietening down now.

dementedma · 23/02/2017 11:39

wind picking up here. dd supposed to be flying from London to Edinburgh this afternoon.....

ThornyBird · 23/02/2017 11:43

SW Cornwall - it's windy but sunny, it was very blowy (enough to wake me and I sleep through everything) between 5-6am but I have gathered the dustbin lids, wheelbarrow Hmm and empty compost bin from their new positions in the garden Grin

Lovely sunshine which is splendid after the grey mizzle of the past few days Smile

BarchesterFlowers · 23/02/2017 11:48

I am at heathrow Demented, Leeds flight is delayed by an hour, flight here was delayed by an hour due to winds and then they couldn't get the tunnel thing to connect.

DH (pirate Wink) has some pilot weather app on his phone and reckons Leeds weather much worse than the vomit inducing landing at Heathrow.

I haven't been able to eat .... very unusual indeed.

Mamia15 · 23/02/2017 12:00

lia66 - that chimney looks ready to blow over...

SeaLionsOnMyShirt · 23/02/2017 12:05

Bugger, there goes my fence (Surrey). And its not even the crappy one that I have down to replace this year, but the nice new one on the other side put in last year. It's weird, we are getting big gusts & rain, and then calm & sunshine!

The Isle of Man though (where I'm from), sounds like they are taking a bit of a battering today, they have had huge gusts over there, trees down all over the place, planes temporarily cancelled. I don't envy anyone who has to fly today, good luck & fingers crossed that it's not too bumpy Barchester (nappy sacks make excellent sick bags btw...)

JennyHolzersGhost · 23/02/2017 12:08

Sigh. Next door's tree has taken out our shed roof. And the fence has gone. I just hope our roof is alright.

Really scary sounding gusts here now (Leicester). Wind is whistling through the window vents and house is creaking.
Storm is causing problems on the on the railways ~ trains from Euston are suspended.

GloriaSmud · 23/02/2017 12:29

Just watching flightradar over Manchester Airport and some of the flights are attempting/aborting landings and then having to circle several times.

JeepRenegade · 23/02/2017 12:29

Yet still absolutely NOTHING, not even a breeze in Harrogate.... Hmm

lampfromikea · 23/02/2017 12:30

It's picked up a lot here now. I've had to rescue a sale board from under my car and return to the house over there road. Another house has lost its picket fence too.
DD is refusing to leave me as the cat flap keeps blowing open and scaring her. Worried we will lose our sale board and the iron railing it's attached to if it gets any worse. Confused

lampfromikea · 23/02/2017 12:31

Gloria that doesn't sound good. My dad farms sheep in south Leicester and it's the start of lambing season so he's set to dash up to the farm at the slightest sign of lambs. Really hope none come today if it's that bad!!

May09Bump · 23/02/2017 12:35

Wind seems to stengthening in Surrey, some numpties trying to play golf in it. My trees are nearly bending in half - biting nails and fingers crossed they dont come down over roads.

Car also got hit by large branch whilst driving - god knows how the window screen is intact. Plenty of flying branches and a few trees down.

dreamingofdahlias · 23/02/2017 12:39

Power has been out for over an hour in south manchester

GloriaSmud · 23/02/2017 12:45

lampfromikea ~ I think about now was going to be the worst time of the day. I'm right on the western edge (near M69/M1 junction) and dread to think what it's like in open countryside. Hope for your Dad's sake, the lambs can delay their arrival 'til it's calmer out there!

Strong winds now scare me.
A lovely lady, just back to work after parental leave was killed by a falling tree in Dublin a few years back. May she rest in peace.

Madbengalmum · 23/02/2017 13:09

It is very scary here in East mids, trees down everywhere, and every few minutes the roof sounds like its being ligfted off. I really hate the winds.

Madbengalmum · 23/02/2017 13:09
  • lifted!
