Can't promise that I'll be able to add as much as I usually do (not very well atm) so its quite likely I might miss stuff but I've added a few thoughts to that thread re the current set up and tis easier if I just keep it in one place.

ooh, I feel the need to go & measure ours now

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2012 22:11

Grin at all the MNetters out in the snow with rulers.

TeWihara · 04/02/2012 22:12

Surely this is what rulers are for? Grin

GloriaSmud · 04/02/2012 22:14

Do you think any of this is going to melt if we don't have any rain, OYBBK? I was saying to DH earlier that while all this snow doesn't cause as much disruption as it would have if it had happened on a weekday, the fact that it is a weekend and perhaps people don't have to go out, together with the temperatures possibly not getting much above freezing tomorrow, might mean this snow isn't going anywhere in a hurry for those that have a lot of it and might make for difficult journeys to work/school runs on Monday.

Ponders · 04/02/2012 22:15

4-5cm here (east Lancs)

pathetic amount really but just enough to look really pretty (& hopefully disperse painlessly tomorrow Grin)

OhyouBadBadkitten · 04/02/2012 22:19

I have some pretty fancy weather kit in my garden but nothing beats a ruler for measuring snow. 3.5cm at the moment, gentle steady snow fall.

And with that am off to bed. If we get close to the thread limit please can someone start us a new thread :) g'night!

OP posts:
GloriaSmud · 04/02/2012 22:20

Just measured again ~ 9cms!

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2012 22:20

Thanks for this thread OYBBK it's been interesting. Smile

LottieJenkins · 04/02/2012 22:21

Ive been dancing in the snow in the garden in my nightie!!!!!!!!! Grin

OhyouBadBadkitten · 04/02/2012 22:21

Gloria, I think it could be tricky for some areas come monday with ice a real hazard (and gfs hinting at a little something for tomorrow night...)

ok, def off to bed :)

OP posts:
BIWI · 04/02/2012 22:22

We have about an inch here but it's falling quite heavily now.

What is really amazing is how light it is outside! I looked out a moment ago and thought someone had left their lights on!

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2012 22:22

Grin Lottie Did Bumble join you?

whojamaflip · 04/02/2012 22:23

just had another measure - 9cm now so thats a rate of 1cm an hour here depending which forecast I look at it is either going to

a) turn to rain and wash it all away Angry
b) stop and freeze hard
c) keep snowing all night Grin

OhyouBadBadkitten · 04/02/2012 22:23

(should say that UKMO doesnt concur with gfs)
right, really off to bed!

OP posts:
ajandjjmum · 04/02/2012 22:26

Now raining in West Midlands. Anyone know what's happening in London?

Ponders · 04/02/2012 22:26

BIWI, mine is 1½-2" Smile

(must admit metric is much easier when you're looking at a small range of figures in small amounts. No wonder joiners like mm)

VivaLeBeaver · 04/02/2012 22:26

I've got to go to work tomorrow. Sad

LottieJenkins · 04/02/2012 22:28

SparklingBrook The divinely handsome canine that is Bumble dived out into the garden and then back into the house! My friend got a photo but it is a little dark!! I only got Mr B last May so don't know how he will be in the snow!! Grin

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2012 22:30

Sparkling Cat is hugely unimpressed Lottie. Grin

Pascha · 04/02/2012 22:32

Ok what looks like sleet has arrived in South Kent. Looks more damp than anything. Not hopeful for anything useful.

LottieJenkins · 04/02/2012 22:33

My friend who is with me tonight has seven cats! She reckons they will all be using the litter tray!! Wink

lubeybooby · 04/02/2012 22:35

6-7 cms here with cute little drifts up to 18 cms. Including one against my front door, I'm literally snowed in :o

A car just got stuck outside my house with an eldery gentleman driving, a load of young lads came out from the pub nearby and helped him. Warmed me more than hot choc that did!

lubeybooby · 04/02/2012 22:36

My cats have been hilarious in it. One is disgusted, one is confused and the other is taking it on warrior style :o

GloriaSmud · 04/02/2012 22:37

Ah yes, News24's weather has been hinting at that 'little something' for tomorrow night!
Night, night OYBBK.
You've done a fab job today!

Milliways · 04/02/2012 22:40

WWe sent Old Dog out into the garden for 2 minutes and he came in looking like a husky as it is still coming down fast in Reading. We live at the top of of a huge hill so tomorrow will be fun Grin
