Can't promise that I'll be able to add as much as I usually do (not very well atm) so its quite likely I might miss stuff but I've added a few thoughts to that thread re the current set up and tis easier if I just keep it in one place.

there was still some absolutely SHOCKING driving.
DH arrived as a knight in shining 4x4 and was being overtaken by idiots in hot hatchbacks.

I know we are daft to be concerned about a few inches of snow yada yada yada, but a few inches of slippery snow is SCARY. Why aren't these people more careful?

slartybartfast · 04/02/2012 21:38

yay 9 o'clock on the dot. Smile

OhyouBadBadkitten · 04/02/2012 21:38

Thankyou OYBBK. And thank you for this thread and your updates, a valuable service, which I do appreciate.

What was very lovely was the feeling that if the very worst had happened, and DH and I had disappeared into a ditch, we felt quite sure that we could have knocked on ANY door in Malvern, and someone would have given us a cup of tea and a place to sit out the storm.

I love living here

Hulababy · 04/02/2012 21:41

Quite thick snow here. Definitely more than the 10cm forecast.
Less so in town but that will be traffic mainly.
It hasn't actually snowed heavily really but it has been constant snow from 1:30pm.

Just back from DD's drama show - the show must go on and all that - and the drive up the hill back home was slow but our car was fine. Some cars, the rear wheel drive ones, were really struggling. The roads are not helped as they have cancelled the buses and the gritters haven't gone on this evening, and the roads are quiet meaning the snow isn't being churned up enough.

whojamaflip · 04/02/2012 21:43

Thanks OYBBK Thankfully I have nowhere to drive to tomorrow - just the cows to milk Smile At least the milk tanker was at the farm today so we don't need to worry about him getting stuck until Monday night. Still have nightmares about trying to pull him out of the ditch last year. In the end the tanker was abandoned and we dropped him at train to get home (he managed to catch the last train running!)

Norks hope you are ok?

harbingerofdoom · 04/02/2012 21:44

No, not seen anything out.
There was loads of grit and salt on the roads this morning, but not seen anything out this afternoon or evening.

Home now which means warm and cosy. PILs are home too having been to the show here in Sheffield. And my parents almost home - both sets driving back to Doncaster.

iseenodust · 04/02/2012 21:49

From @hudsonweather met office report 16cms in N Yorks.

eatyourveg · 04/02/2012 21:52

Anyone know what the sate of play is in Winchester? Supposed to be driving there tomorrow. Hoping the motorways will have been gritted overnight.

AngryFeet · 04/02/2012 21:52

Bit disappointed in the snowfall here in Croydon. Still just a very light constant fall. Only about 2cm settled. Bah.

PeneloPeePitstop · 04/02/2012 21:52

can't believe how fine the snow is though, it's like teeny tiny dust particles

OhyouBadBadkitten · 04/02/2012 21:55

tis similar here angryfeet - but I think it will get heavier for you.

OP posts:
hellokittyrules · 04/02/2012 21:59

Cool :)

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2012 22:05

DS2 has got the ruler out and surprisingly it's about 7cm, it looks deeper than that. Still raining.

TeWihara · 04/02/2012 22:06

I have just been out to measure (for science!) and we have 6cms and still snowing heavily, I think the forecast is for another 2 hours here so could make it to 10cms, which would be most exciting.

It's lovely thick flakes now as well, when it started in the late afternoon it was that super fine stuff.

Really, really hoping it won't get rained on overnight for the kids tomorrow.

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2012 22:08

TeWihara the DSs are so worried it will all disappear overnight. Forecast says 6 degrees tomorrow so hoping ok for Monday and schools are open. Grin
