Completely agree. Endless sneering from both Starmer and Reeves whenever they were held to account for their poor performance.

Reeves I had forgotten about her she was looking down on people like she had a bad smell under her nose...treating people with utter disdain.

Well they have been handed their arses so to speak!

Communist state, right, okay.

Digital ID - aiming to improve the RTW checks, which predominantly makes it easier in terms of migrants and illegal working. The rest of us, the gov would have info it already has. Sounds awful.

No jury trials - An ongoing discussion, started before Starmer, about how to speed up the courts system in very specific cases.

Welfare - he suggested PIP review, and was shot down. Rightly, IMO, but you can’t have it both ways.

Boats - the peak was in 2022 (as in, not Labour) and have actually gone down.

Tax - I’m a Higher Rate payer, and I don’t know if this is news, but things aren’t free. They’re paid for in taxes, that some people (like me) pay more toward. Unless you’re a net contributor, I also don’t actually think you are paying excessively.

Long delays in NHS - again, see the Tory’s for what happened there, there is a lack of improvement but let’s not pretend he caused them.

Don’t let the facts get in the way though.

😂😂

Indeed. Getting rid of Reeves may have saved Starmer for a little while longer though. Keeping her was one of his most serious errors of judgement.

Yep sneering at people doesn’t generally play well. People can vote after all.

Yup, 100% agree, she was utterly hopeless, not just in her mistakes but her jeering patronising attitude.

What will happen when new Prime Minster finds he hasn’t got a magic wand, and nothing major changes in a good way, do they oust them too? If we end up in a worse mess whose fault will that be?
Changing PM’s every few years is not the way forward

Yeah, he seemed to believe this manipulation of 'figures' too. In truth, he has done neither. The poor folk who are forced to wait before being put on a waiting list are not counted (even though they are waiting). The in the main, men, who are coming in by the boatload who have ditched their papers and are 'untraceable' are not counted as 'illegals'. Like I said he is either deluded, or he believes his own lies or he believes the lies he has been fed.

Well - someone is being manipulated.

It’s true the NHS lists came down because they were being managed properly. But let’s take a scenario. Your mum needs a new hip. It’s a wait of 18 months. The NHS conducts a review of the list, and removes all those with surgery slots who have died, or gone private, or who for whatever reason no longer need the surgery.

Your mum gets a letter saying she can now have the surgery in 14 months.

In what world is this not a win, for your mum, and for the efficiency of the NHS?

Big Farage fan clearly.

He already had his own money, I don't think he did the job for a pay cheque. Some people may just be genuine.

Imported criminal isn't his fault. Cheap shot really.

If he already had his own money, why was he happy to accept thousands of pounds of undeclared donations from Lord Alli for himself and his family? What a morally repugnant act from a man completely lacking in any integrity.

WitchesCauldron · 22/06/2026 13:48

ilovebrie8 · 22/06/2026 11:42

Agree I've waited over 2 years for an op, kept being delayed and delayed no joined up thinking or depts talking to depts. Stuff being misses all sorts I could write a book.
It is a disgrace, one of the secretaries I had a lot of dealings with she was in her 60s she has seen the goings on said NHS is on its knees as we have far too many using it and it cannot cope.
It is as simple as that we have added millions upon millions to the population over the last few decades and the NHS can't support the sheer number of people using it.
Many of them have never contributed.

Most of the PM''s that resign have got a bit emotional.

Of course a 'secretary' in the NHS would know everything....

The reduction in waiting times has nothing to do with 'better management'. I suggest you do some research.

SleepQuest33 · 22/06/2026 13:54

My big concern now is that Burnham is more to the left than Starmer, the country cannot afford a higher welfare bill.

People (who aren’t very bright) will think Farage is the answer, and that will be the final harakiri to the UK. It would be such a shame that the very man who inflicted brexit (and the start of the country’s decline) could potentially benefit from the whole debacle !! Hard to believe.

Wac90 · 22/06/2026 13:58

FictionalCharacter · 22/06/2026 12:20

I think he was a poor leader and unsuited to the job of PM. I also think the scheming to get rid of him was appalling, including the parachuting in of Burnham as a potential new PM when he has zero experience of even being an MP. But I do find it irritating that all these ousted PMs get tearful for themselves after one performance after another of badly scripted, face-pulling faux-concern for ordinary people who have suffered genuine tragedy and horrors.

It's surely foreseeable that you'll get emotional talking about the effect on your family, so best to leave them out of a resignation speech, which is a professional matter.

Andy Burnham has “zero experience of even being an MP”? What, Andy Burnham who was an MP for 16 years before becoming Manchester Mayor? Who was a government minister for the last five years of the last Labour government? Who was in cabinet for two, including as Health Secretary?

Or was that another Andy Burnham?

Of course she has, done the job for decades been there got the t shirt!
She has lived it day in day out.
It’s a mess far too many people to cope with.
Far better insight than you would have I’d say.
She sees the waiting lists for the consultants.

Fair enough. A vast majority of his own MPs didn’t. You can be sad about losing your job and still be a crappy person.

I haven’t seen anyone describe him as a crappy person tbh, I think he’s quite obviously a decent person who many don’t think is right for the job. What makes you think he’s a crappy person?

Then that makes his actions even worse and highlights just how far from a 'decent man' he was. It's quite astonishing to see how he managed to fool so many people on this forum. 😂

SleepQuest33 · 22/06/2026 11:12

What do you propose happens to fix this?

if tge likes of Nigel Farage get in, we’ll be heading to à USA type system, good luck getting bankrupt when you get cancer!!!

You know there are other medical models like in Europe which are funded and work better?

We don’t have to put up with a crap NHS that can’t seem to work no matter the funding due to the fear mongering about a US system? Take a look at France for example before getting all worked up.

I’m sick of the NHS being a black hole of money and so utterly crap. I’m pregnant at the moment and it’s been absolutely bloody atrocious. I fear giving birth at this point. So whilst it’s ‘free’ (or better coined as tax payer funded), it has a cost which is its availability and quality of care.

No they are not being managed 'properly', they are being managed 'differently' to make the figures look improved.

Badbadbunny · 22/06/2026 10:36

I agree. My DH has had cancer for 9 years and has regular hospital appointments, and if anything, things are worse over the last couple of years. He has just suffered a fractured femur, due to bone damage caused by his chemo treatment, and the urgent referral to Orthopaedic dept is an utter joke - week after week of being ignored, then got an appointment only to be sent to the wrong place (as per appointment letter) waited all day being passed from pillar to post trying to find out where he should have been, shuffling around the hospital between waiting (holding) areas, then to find the consultant has gone home (early afternoon), with promises for a call back and/or new appointment forgotten, and still trying to contact someone to get things back on track - more like contacting the dead as everyone promises to call back or get someone else to call back, but no one ever does. It's an utter shambles. "Getting better" my arse! What's worse he'll now be marked at a fail to attend and be included in the NHS "patient blaming" statistics!!

Edited

Sorry that you've had such a rubbish experience. Our experience where my husband works is at the waiting list have gone down dramatically. Nationally they have as well.

Allisnotlost1 · 22/06/2026 14:21

EdgarAlien · 22/06/2026 12:34

Blimey. Let’s treat him better than he treated us? Why?

Have you been hounded out of your job having barely completed half your contract as well? What a coincidence!

How can he be said to have treated any one individual badly? By all means criticise policy but ludicrous to say any PM treated individual voters badly.

Dragonscaledaisy · 22/06/2026 14:22

FirstNationsEnglish · 22/06/2026 14:20

No they are not being managed 'properly', they are being managed 'differently' to make the figures look improved.

At the cost of billions of pounds of tax payers money being given to private sector providers.
