Good choice! I haven't seen one in years

mysterymoniker · 09/01/2009 21:05

I want one crossed with a t/b

could I play polo on that?

I love Suffolk Punchs When I was younger we had a Suffolk Punch lawnmower and when it broke I made dad keep it because of the name! I didn't realise they were in danger, I love all the large breeds.

mysterymoniker · 09/01/2009 23:01

I LOVE those

does she look like this?

I love Fells, not least because they can even carry ME

sadly this breed is also endangered

snorris · 10/01/2009 11:10

I have a Fell . (Pic on profile ).

mysterymoniker · 10/01/2009 11:17

oh she is beautiful

do you show her?

OP posts:
snorris · 10/01/2009 11:25

Only local shows although dd1 did show her for at Devon County Show last year. Unfortunately she has sweet-itch so it is a struggle to keep her looking presentable. She also had a mild bout of laminitis just after Devon County. It was a 2 hour journey and I think the stress may have brought it on. She doesn't really enjoy showing and I'm not competitive enough so I'm just a happy hacker now .

mysterymoniker · 10/01/2009 12:45

am not really into showing but think mine might enjoy some fun local ones, he loves jumping

just need to get him to load first . . .

mysterymoniker · 10/01/2009 12:45

(he is not a Fell btw)

We are lucky to have a mare and foal Suffolk Punch in our village and they are lovely. Trouble is they are not really good for anything (other than ploughing and taking to shows) hence they are dying out. I love them and hope this grant keeps them going.

pedilia · 10/01/2009 14:22

I met a pair of Sufflok Punches at the country show last year, stunning!
Make my lot seem tiny

My favourite horse EVER was my mare Heidi!

snorris · 10/01/2009 23:34

My Heidi is going off tomorrow on trial to (hopefully) a new home. Dd1 has well and truly outgrown her and realistically I haven't got time to start the younger ones riding at the moment. If they want to pootle about my other ponies are quiet enough.

fortyplus · 10/01/2009 23:38

My 2 boys weren't really interested in the horses so I've given up now - I ride other people's instead

mysterymoniker · 11/01/2009 09:37

today's horse is the Cleveland Bay, another old British breed in dire straits
