wouldn't it be lovely to do that?

adds 'rescue and rehabilitation' to things-I'd-love-to-do-with-horses list

I first found that site as a link from something else and I sat there for hours reading about poor Argus and crying my eyes out. I haven't looked at it for ages but last night was sorting out my favourites list and stupidly started reading.

On a happier note, the rescue lady's daughter has a totally wonderful mule called Odie that does eventing and everything . There are some great pics of him.

oh why did I look just before going to school?

the idea of leaving a blind horse alone, the state of their feet, no hay - all of it, utterly heartbreaking

this bit really made me lose it though: "He just seemed to say, yes...this is the attention and love I have looked for my whole life."

argh, can I pass the state of my face off as hayfever?

Ah I see... Well he's definitely got native of some sort in him, as you say he looks a bit new-foresty.

Now since you put a sad story up the other day you can't moan at me for making Starmaker horse of the day (scroll down the page for his story). I warn you it made me cry!

(read the rest of the site at your peril and have tissues handy)

haha! that's not me, that's my nearly 10yo daughter - he NEVER messes about with her (saves it for me!), although she was really just sitting there to model him, she sometimes walks or trots him in the school but never canters in case he does his party trick motorbike thing.

I think he's probably a bit New Forest amongst loads of other breeds? that mealy muzzle makes me think exmoor but apart from sometimes living next door to one there's probably no connection - no he's quite a little horse really, 15.2 but feels smaller once you're on. I'm nearly 5'4, got short legs and a long back though.

Yes I do, he's just the sort I like with a kind, honest face. He's not like he was in my imagination though, all that talk of high withers had me picturing some spindly thoroughbred type and for some reason he was chestnut .

Also, he's either very big or you are a short-arse like me .

awwww do you really think so? I know he looks podgy in the pic but he isn't, he's just right - that's just the way he's put together!

I want to talk about him ALL the time at the moment, we're having so much fun again although he was a scamp today and insisted on either cantering sideways in an unplanned but very fancy way or motorbiking round the school at scary speed - yeehah!

He is rather gorgeous so we'll let him have his moment of fame .

well, yes, more than a bit sad then - I should really have just linked to Boomer: Boomer vids

A BIT SAD?! Bit of an understatement there Mitchy. I'm waiting for the freezer repairman to turn up. Now I have puffy eyes, red cheeks and snotty nose. Nice. Wish I could do "beautiful" crying.

I still want a donkey!

Have been thinking about Jess and Boomer lately, it's just over a year since the accident - I think Boomer should be horse of the day, here is one of the many tributes to Jess. Sorry it's a bit sad.

I was only saying to my mum the other day that if we win the lottery I'm getting ds a donkey instead of a pony, as they are so soft and daft-looking. Also they live for years longer. (We'd been for a walk to our local farm shop and they've got three gorgeous chocolate brown ones there.)

Ds is unlikely to come off the lead-rein anyway so it won't make any difference to him, though it would have to be a fairly big donkey like this one!

I've read the book and cried buckets. It's absolutely fantastic and I would love to see the play.

Oh I so want to go and see this, it has fantastic reviews. Dh and I are going up to London in June for our anniversary and we want to see a show but I can't really expect him to go and see this. It won't be much of a celebration with me snivelling into a box of tissues!

yes! I'll be humming that all day now . . .

which made me think of Zorro, which somehow led me to the andalusian but that one has an implausibly long mane, hair extensions?

last year at a show (after the show) I saw someone taking hair extensions out of their Friesian mare's mane surely that is cheating!

And I was soooo jealous of my friend when I was about 10 as she had black beauty wallpaper in her room. Imagine! I'd have that now if they still made it
