show team at our yard is sponsored by a shavings company, so no, we never run out!

Pixel · 04/02/2009 18:04

We have been able to buy shavings but the prices have gone up by about £3 per bale, apparently due to a shortage. I've noticed other people are starting to use those little cardboard squares that come in a bale instead.

snoringnightmare · 04/02/2009 18:42

Mitchy. Great name btw. I double checked myself typing it.

Pixel, they've gone up here to around £9.00 a bale and that is when we can get them. Am seriously going to have to look at alternatives. Can't be straw as they will eat it (Cobs). Will have a look at those cardboard things you've mentioned. Do you have a name at all? Any bright ideas welcome please.

Pixel · 04/02/2009 19:07

I was told the name but I've forgotten it . I'll see if I can find out.

Pixel · 04/02/2009 19:22

It could have been this stuff I saw. Someone was pushing it on a barrow and you could see the bits of cardboard through the see-through bag. I was looking at that and not the name on the bag! I will ask the lady when I see her again.

snoringnightmare · 04/02/2009 19:35

Pixel, thank you v much. I will look out for that. Tbh, if it's available and they won't eat it - hurrah!

Pixel · 06/02/2009 15:02

welsh mountain

Pixel · 06/02/2009 15:05

Love that cat btw, I couldn't get it to play at first. Doesn't the horse's back look lovely and comfy?

MitchyInge · 06/02/2009 16:42

ahhh hello welshie!

you are nice I like your forelock and your nostrils! what a kissable face

Pixel · 09/02/2009 01:18

I don't know if any of you have seen this little pony on youtube but I think I've watched most of her videos over the last couple of years. I think she is a fantastic character, a real livewire yet she takes infinite care with her disabled owner both being ridden and led from an electric wheelchair. When a more able rider gets on she changes to a galloping and jumping machine and also drives. A real advert for the shetland pony if ever I saw one!

Sadly, when I looked today to see if there were any new videos I found out that she died in January .

So I think she deserves to be horse of the day Natalie.

MitchyInge · 09/02/2009 08:06

what an incredible little pony! just had a very small snivel

thanks pixel, that was a joy to watch

For my friend who loves them...new forest pony

Pixel · 13/02/2009 17:44

Come on, we can't have run out already although we seem to have had most of my favourites. Except for ... the magnificent shire horse

MitchyInge · 14/02/2009 08:30

I want to do this!

MitchyInge · 14/02/2009 08:43

heh

Pixel · 14/02/2009 17:19

Ah, that one on the beach looks like my mum's old horse, he was 1/2 shire. He was so lovely, you could put little children on him bareback in a headcollar and know he would look after them, or put an experienced rider on and he would jump anything he was pointed at. People used to laugh as he went in the ring with the ground shaking beneath his hairy feet but they weren't laughing when he'd done his perfect clear round! We do miss him .

Pixel · 14/02/2009 17:22

How about this one from Sellafield zoo, "where the wildlife has a half life"

MitchyInge · 14/02/2009 19:11

I MUCH prefer your mum's old one

LadyOfWaffle · 19/02/2009 11:43

We haven't had a horse for a few days... let me go hunt one down

LadyOfWaffle · 19/02/2009 11:46

I don't think we have had Hackney yet

Owls · 19/02/2009 19:11

Oooo he's a bit of a looker, LOW.
