You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to others just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

We are testing next week ready for all back in on the 8th too. I feel sick every time I think about it. It is just so upsetting that there is no sign of a vaccine for school staff. No word on masks yet, but I really, really hope they happen in classrooms as well as corridors.

Now that I’ve found this thread, it’s made me a bit nervous to venture back out onto the rest of mumsnet! 🤣 I used to just read and marvel over the madness, but now I’ve found these threads where there’s no sniping, the rest of it all seems that little bit crazier!

I've just ordered takeaway at this time of night. Parents evening started at 4.30pm so ds was banished to his room and I was pinned to the laptop. Was hungry but clueless as to what I wanted or had the energy to cook. Took the dog out for a good walk and then came home and ordered chinese.

Ds will be pleased but not good for my diet yet it was a bloody parents evening and who has cooking energy after one of those.

It's batshit out there 9pm.

I am feeling strangely calm about returning. My dh has his first vaccine tomorrow and his ht has whole heartedly agreed that he should live stream into school from home for the recommended number of days until the vaccine begins to offer him some protection. The relief I feel is immeasurable. Shed a few more tears today.

There are so many things about the situation that are still totally unreasonable and dangerous but for now all I can think about is dh being safer.

I am tucked away in the dining room and sleeping in the spare room a while longer though just to make sure. Had a child in my bubble test negative today - phew.

I'm glad Piggy is ok - hope she's back soon.

@SquashedFlyBiscuits I'm glad DH's head is being so sensible, it must be such a relief for you both.

I am in the 'que sera, sera' phase of the pandemic emotional rollercoaster today.

Both DDs will return to school on 8th but have had to book pre-emptive LFD tests for them for next week. As neither of them has left the house for weeks I shall be surprised if they test positive, although with DH and I both out in the thick of it, it's still possible.

DD1 is ambivalent about going back (sixth form, tiny classes, massive introvert) while DD2 is slightly more keen (she misses her friends).

Phew re piggy.

Same. I'm tired of worrying. I'm gonna try to...not.

I even went for a run today. I am active but not a fan of just going for a run, so the worry and boredom of lockdown has really gotten to me 😂

I'm in the winding up stage of the coronacoaster of emotions. Being quicker tempered and so on.

The other nice, reliable places I've found on MN are on the Christian Coffee House -Prayer, and the Daily Gratitudes threads - both on Philosophy and Religion. I recommend the latter thread for anyone of any faith or none (just ignore the spelling in the title😆)

I read something about a massive bun fight in the knitting world (not MN) because someone didn’t have their patterns in plus sizes and people were slating them for fat shaming.

It’s not all sweet grandmas apparently.

And now I’ve probably insulted a knitter on here by suggesting they’re a sweet grandma.

That Noblegirafe, single handedly destroying education and waging war against the knitters of the world.

Glad your DS is getting his vaccine, monkey and that you're seeing him regularly, must be like a different life to January.
