You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to others just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

50th Shock amazing.

I did a bit of mumsnetting for 5 minutes in a break today. I’m a bad teacher.

GuyFawkesDay · 25/02/2021 17:41

I've cracked and opened wine 🙈

Am awaiting the "you're overstaffed" conversation too. The irony is the member of staff pulling the least weight is the HoD.

rainingcats · 25/02/2021 17:46

Please tell me that people have not been complaining that teachers have been going on mumsnet during the school day?!

Just found out that we are expected back in on Wednesday and Thursday teaching out lessons virtually from our allocated classroom - not sure why - we then have an inset type day on Friday where we are again expected to be in school despite the fact the inset will take place via teams.

CallmeAngelina · 25/02/2021 17:53

"Please tell me that people have not been complaining that teachers have been going on mumsnet during the school day?!"

Oh yeah, they're always throwing that one at us. It's almost as if no one believes a teacher can multi-task. Or be part-time.

CarrieBlue · 25/02/2021 17:53

50! This must be a golden thread then Star

borntobequiet · 25/02/2021 17:55

@flumposie

I feel like this thread is the build up to my 50th in April Smile Email today to say all staff expected in next Friday for reintegration ( Confused) It's my day off, so nope. Also wtf is meant by reintegration?!
It’s the opposite of disintegration so a good sign.
HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 25/02/2021 18:07

We're having reintegration too. I'm bemused.

MrsHamlet · 25/02/2021 18:10

Isn't reintegration when you come back from your last exclusion before p-ex? Where your mum hears you promise never to do it again?

WhenSheWasBad · 25/02/2021 18:10

Oh yeah, they're always throwing that one at us. It's almost as if no one believes a teacher can multi-task. Or be part-time

Come on it’s well known teachers are unable to multitask. Hmm

HarrietDVane · 25/02/2021 18:11

50! Good grief!

I'm a full time teacher but during my luxurious 20 minute lunch break today I logged on to MN... And here I am again! Don't tell Wilshaw for goodness´ sake. He apparently expects us all to be ready to lay down our lives for the sake of SPAG, if his appalling performance on Newsnight is anything to go by.

HarrietDVane · 25/02/2021 18:12

Forgot to say thank you to Staff for the Golden Thread! Thanks Staff!

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 25/02/2021 18:19

twitter.com/mcash/status/1364938061105225728?s=19 did someone share this on the last thread?

Reintegration is the meeting after a failed managed move.

JanFebAnyMonth · 25/02/2021 18:20

@SmileEachDay

My new lockdown weight loss plan:

Wear the jeans you should fit in to whilst working at home rather than comfy leggings. It totally discourages eating and draws your attention to your attractive muffin top every time you sit down.

Mmmmm lemon water.

Good strategy, I may adopt it.

Happy Golden Thread all.

Reintegration sounds like you've been sat on the Naughty Step for 2.5 months and now it's time to come back in and see if you can play nicely!

We start testing on Friday, all support staff are meant to be in and many of them are being hastily trained to do some of the Testing Station jobs. Am hopefully missing out on that as we still have KWV kids to supervise.

JanFebAnyMonth · 25/02/2021 18:29

Daily Telegraph current 'front page':
Primary schools are telling children to wear face maskss in the classroom, the Telegraph can reveal. Ministers have been asked to "urgently" clarify that masks are not only "unnecessary" for young children but could in fact cause a range of potential harms. The Prime Minister announced on Monday that secondary school students should wear maskss in the classroom when they return if it is not possible for them to keep two metres apart. Although official guidance from the Department for Education states children in primary schools do not need to wear masks, some headteachers have started to write to parents telling them their children need to use face coverings. Camilla Turner has the detailss_.

It didn't take long for the U turn.

Icytundra · 25/02/2021 18:34

They must be dizzy from all these u-turns

JanFebAnyMonth · 25/02/2021 18:36

@FrippEnos

JanFebAnyMonth

It didn't take long for the U turn.

But they never said masks in primary did they?
FrippEnos · 25/02/2021 18:36

Icytundra

I wonder if this is the governments theme song

FrippEnos · 25/02/2021 18:38

JanFebAnyMonth

But they never said masks in primary did they?

I don't think that they did, but honestly I am getting lost with all the spin and bullshit that is being spread by the media and the government.

It also doesn't help that the DfE has changed its mind that many times.

phlebasconsidered · 25/02/2021 18:38

No. They have not agreed to masks in primary. They have agreed to them in communal risk areas which are few. And apparently decided by the head/trust. Get this- I can now wear a mask when I take the kids out for hometime!!!!!!
So, so safer.

Thought I'd pop in to this one. Been lurking teacher wise, but chewing my way through lots of other threads. I have fond memories of the 1st Republic back jn ld1- and the near retreat to the tes Forum. I tend to do angry posts, then fuck off back to work.

Local kid got beaten up by a group of older kids last night, for no reason. I'm terrified for my ds, so am currently angry posting on local social media and coming here for a break!

Timeturnerplease · 25/02/2021 18:53

It’s definitely feeling like business as usual now. Long message from a parent today asking for a meeting re her son’s 11+ chances.

He’s eight, and thanks to lockdown and isolations I haven’t taught him since November.

Timeturnerplease · 25/02/2021 18:54

Taught him in person I should clarify, before some non teacher lurker starts wailing about lazy teachers. I have taught him daily on Zoom, so calm down teacher bashers!

flumposie · 25/02/2021 18:56

Am loving your reintegration comments Grin
