You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to others just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

Glad to hear piggy is OK.

Not at all surprised that a small group of people tried to get Zoe Hyde's paper retracted. Hopefully they are about to discover the Streisand effect.

Bridging the gap between the Republic and the knitters. I give you Cillian, in a jumper.

Happy Friday!

Hmmm lovely!

A friend and her husband were briefly living with his brother and tried to fix me up with him about 20 years ago.

Brother said very little and was probably thinking exactly what I was; you fancy my brother more...

What was also hilarious was that I kept having to translate between high speed northern Irish and his southern Irish lilt. Both frequently couldn't understand each other!

motherrunner · 26/02/2021 06:36

What a story @WarriorN!

I think I may have accepted that date, got married and then I cold be the drunk sister-in-law who would try and grope him at every family party (and I know from being married to an Irish man, there are LOADS of those!)

JanFebAnyMonth · 26/02/2021 07:05

You see, I find Cillian (at lest inall the pics so generously shared here, quite scary-looking. Mean cruel hard looking.....

Just me?

HarrietDVane · 26/02/2021 07:09

Not just you, @JanFebAnyMonth - not my cup of tea at all! I can see why others find him attractive, but I just... don't.

I like to say ‘brooding’.

The image that takes me back to my 19 year old self and the day I pledged my first born son would be named ‘Cillian’. (My Cillian is blond haired, blue eyed and now has a happy smile 😆)

*gappy!

Monkeytennis97 · 26/02/2021 07:14

@JanFebAnyMonth I agree with you about Cillian.

motherrunner · 26/02/2021 07:14

Crikey so bad at maths. 24 year old self!

Monkeytennis97 · 26/02/2021 07:16

I find him a bit 'skeletor' (from He-Man) looking.

Gah sadly I tried my best flirting, he was either gay, not interested or too shy (I think the latter) also lived miles away. It was around 28 days later time. I think the over enthusiasm my friend had for his brother (with her husband there) may have been a factor!

TheMoth · 26/02/2021 07:25

He's got amazing eyes. I think he'd make a good Jesus, in a Robert Powell kind of way. Grin

He does slots on radio6 quite often. He comes across as Thoroughly Nice Man.

JanFebAnyMonth · 26/02/2021 07:38

The world would be a boring place if we all liked exactly the same thing!

9pmcouchnaps · 26/02/2021 07:51

Ah, Cilian in a jumper. How lovely. Autocorrect changes Cilian to Collin though, and somehow that doesn’t have the same allure...

HobnobbingAboutHobnobs · 26/02/2021 07:53

Also a bloodbath - "he's mine!" "no he's mine!"

TheMoth · 26/02/2021 08:01

I'm eternally grateful that I grew up in the modern age, with more partners to choose from, than in a small village with much less choice. The competition must have been brutal.

Appuskidu · 26/02/2021 08:11

Has anyone used the ‘Calm’ app? It’s good for all sorts of things but it has Cillian reading a sleep story. It’s bloody brilliant-he talks you through a train journey across Ireland to get you to go to sleep; I haven’t got to the end yet!

It’s been v good at calming me down recently to be honest. It’s got loads of different famous people reading stories but his one is free Smile.

I do @Appuskidu, but only the free version. Will upgrade if he reads a story!

@TheMoth He does, doesn’t he? He’s very musical too and I love hearing him talk about music. He’s been married for donkey’s so I also like that he’s family orientated too.

motherrunner · 26/02/2021 08:37

@Appuskidu Just reread your post. His is free 😳 I’ve haven’t been on the app for a while. That’s my evening sorted 😃

Medra · 26/02/2021 08:37

Good Morning Republicans! Got the news yesterday that we are expected in for a reintegration day (although they didn’t call it that) where they are having a whole staff face to face meeting 😭

It’s so good!

I was in such a state about everything at the start of the week-not sleeping or seemingly capable of logical and coherent thought, but I’ve actually slept pretty well for 3 nights straight now thanks to Mr Murphy!!

I think there’s lots of other good stuff on there but I’m only using it for him at the moment Grin

That's ridiculous!

We've handily already got an inset scheduled for Friday the 5th.

I'm going to be super unproductive today, I stayed up way too late last night after spotting a job vacancy that closed at 9am today. I only have one live lesson though, thankfully. I've emailed the head to tell him and also offered to go PT next year. This is shit.
