Hello all! Welcome to any school staff looking to improve their diet/exercise in 2021!

Last year I lost 5 stone and my BMI dropped from 42 to 28. My aim this year is to drop another 2 stone to get into the 'normal' weight category and to improve my stamina with jogging.

Welcome all!Smile

Honestly there is a whole generation of deranged women walking round in circles trying to get their steps up. Not sure if people outside the club think we're deranged but those of us in the club go oh shit is it ten to the hour? Time to get my steps in! Grin

Morning all. I've stayed the same, weight wise, this week - perhaps unsurprising given how badly I fell off the wagon at the start of the week. I have a long history of plateauing at this weight so I'm feeling a bit daunted.

My hormones are all over the place as well (menopause? Who knows?) which isn't helping. My cycle has gone pretty haywire over the past year or so, so I suspect it might be that. It feels like having PMT without any respite.

Today I will force myself out for a walk and/or dust off the exercise bike. I also need to blitz through the housework but everyone else is still asleep so I'll be kind and hold off with the hoover until they've woken up!

MrsHerculePoirot · 06/02/2021 09:27

I’m a lb up - but had take away last night and food wise fell of wagon this week. Feeling that we can get back on it today though... on the plus side I ran four days, did 6.5 km walk yesterday with friend and going for long walk (well 7km ish is youngest’s limit at mo) with DH and kids now.

Last year when I lost weight I started getting regular with exercising and then when I sorted my food weight fell off initially so hoping to do that again maybe!

HarrietDVane · 06/02/2021 09:50

I salute your exercise commitment, @MrsHerculePoirot! Let's hope the scales are kinder to us next week.

BG2015 · 06/02/2021 10:15

Not sure if this has been posted up thread but FIIT have got 3 months free membership for teachers.

I joined and did my first workout yesterday. It was really good, only 25 minutes but I'm aching this morning.

Need to lose a stone and not moving so much is taking its toll!

MrsHerculePoirot · 06/02/2021 14:15

@BG2015nis that an app or website please? Always like a bit of free stuff and looks snowy this week!

BG2015 · 06/02/2021 14:40

It's both!! You can run it through your TV and dance around your living room, bedroom or kitchen!

MrsHerculePoirot · 06/02/2021 16:11

Ooooh I do love a good dancercise! Might look if too snowy for anything else tomorrow

HarrietDVane · 13/02/2021 10:03

Morning all.

Weighed in and stayed the same again. My body seems to like being stuck at this point. It's a bit disheartening but I shall keep going and hope for some movement this week - at least with it being half term I can get a bit more fresh air and do some batch cooking to top up the freezer.

Hope you've all had a good week.

BG2015 · 13/02/2021 10:24

I've lost 1.8lb this week. I think my burst of exercise has helped

HarrietDVane · 13/02/2021 10:46

Well done @BG2015! I can't seem to find much motivation for exercise at the moment - too cold and miserable!

BG2015 · 13/02/2021 11:29

I've done a few HiiT workouts (free for 3 months) and then when my legs were stiff I've done some Rick Bhuller walking workouts. 3,000 steps in 23 minutes. It's basically just dancing and I add extra in to make it a bit harder.

TheHoneyBadger · 13/02/2021 14:03

Think with so much of it slept through today is likely to be a low step low burn day.

I better try and match that with a very low intake day.

Oh and lots of water.

TheHoneyBadger · 13/02/2021 14:23

That post was meant for elsewhere sorry

Tailrunner · 15/02/2021 11:56

Hi, I'm a bit late to the thread but hope I can join now. I've been overweight for years but I felt rubbish last summer so I started fast800 in October and lost 2 stone (just) before christmas. I was hoping to lose another 2 stone before summer. I haven't coped well with this lockdown though and after all the stress/boredom eating my clothes are very tight again. I'm sure I've put at least a stone back on but I've avoided the scales. I'm starting fast800 again tomorrow and I'm determined to stick to it for more than 3 days (usually Wednesday isnt great and by Thursday I'm face planting into cake). I know I feel better when I'm eating well and I'm lighter but somehow that doesn't help me stick to it. I don't want another overweight summer and I'm running my first ultra in July which will be much easier if there is less of me to drag around.

Sorry, that was a ramble. First goal is face the scales tomorrow then go from there.

HarrietDVane · 15/02/2021 14:32

Welcome @Tailrunner - lovely to have you here. I couldn't even walk an ultra let alone run one! Good luck with facing scales. I find it's better to know, even if it's not great news. Hopefully it won't be as bad as you fear.

Tailrunner · 15/02/2021 16:08

Thanks @HarrietDVane, I will be walking at least as much as I am running and I'm doing it with a lovely group of friends so I'm just keeping everything crossed it is able to go ahead. I will brave the scales tomorrow morning. I think you are right - it's better to know.

TheHoneyBadger · 15/02/2021 18:29

Hi tail. Well done on the 2st. It is frustrating regaining and having to re-lose I lost a stone and a half over lockdown one and summer then stalled after returning to work then started regaining over winter lockdowns. Think I put back on about 12lbs.

I've a lot to lose. It feels good to get back on it.

echt · 15/02/2021 20:15

One day, just one day of a return to remote learning and I pull my back with all the sitting down. Aargh. With any luck it will all be back to normal by Thursday, but still had what you all had, significant work not fit for remote teaching so what to do?

And breathe. I don't work today so will do the garden and take the dog to the beach. Both good for my mood and and my back.

TheHoneyBadger · 15/02/2021 21:33

A beach sounds like a perk I could do with right now. Hope your back ache is fleeting

HarrietDVane · 15/02/2021 21:38

Oh, how I wish I was near a beach!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 15/02/2021 22:12

Well I've done 12 days of no sugar, and feel fine about it. Not been tempted at all. 1.5kg down in first 10 days.

I can't do low carb or V low cal anymore. Even though they've worked for me in losing weight in the past. These days they just make me obsess about eating bread. I'm sticking to the whole small plate half veg, quarter protein, quarter carb though, and it's fine. Eating shed loads of fruit in place of chocolate.

HarrietDVane · 16/02/2021 11:23

I cope ok with low-ish carbs, most of the time. There are occasional blowouts when hormones get the better of me but I am learning just to get back to it ASAP.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 16/02/2021 11:43

I felt really good on low carb. But that was 12 years ago. I was in a very different place hormonally, and could exercise a lot more. I also lived alone, and ate meat. Now i live with a vegan partner and a child. I'm fucked at all angles!

TheHoneyBadger · 16/02/2021 14:35

Shouldn't laugh but I did, sorry.

It's alcohol that ruins low carb for me but I am trying to stick to gin and slimline tonic currently. I love beer but it's so calorific and moreish for me.

I'm sort of on a combo of fasting, lose calorie watching and more protein less refined carbs at the minute with varying degrees of success. I crave carbs in a really weird moment in between being awake and asleep and it can literally drive me out of bed and downstairs when I was seconds away from sleep.
