Hello all! Welcome to any school staff looking to improve their diet/exercise in 2021!

Last year I lost 5 stone and my BMI dropped from 42 to 28. My aim this year is to drop another 2 stone to get into the 'normal' weight category and to improve my stamina with jogging.

Welcome all!Smile

Hello
Thanks for this thread. I need it.

To top it off, dh lost 8 stone last year and I'm still my size 16 asthmatic self. 14st. So I need to lose 3 to be healthy at my height.

HarrietDVane · 01/01/2021 12:17

Thank you @Monkeytennis97 for this new thread. I’m in awe of your success in 2020!

I’m not sure what set as a target weight loss wise. To get into the healthy category I would need to lose 6st, but I feel very daunted by that. I might just take it 1st at a time.

Monkeytennis97 · 01/01/2021 12:18

@DrMadelineMaxwell Welcome! Wow that's a huge loss!! I'm 12 stone 7 now, was 17 stone 9lbs after years of comfort eating when DS was at home. We got this!

DH "made" me step on the scales this morning. Had such a shock I went straight downstairs to do some exercise.
DH is now making me a healthy soup for lunch and clearing out the fridge of cheese whilst I recover from the workout.
We got the dog a Fitbit for Christmas. He's not going to know what's hit him - off on (yet another) long walk shortly.

I lost 3 and a half stone a couple of years ago, and looked fab on itbut I'm embarrassed to say that about 2 of it has slowly gone back on, mostly via alcohol.

SO.... I'm in. We can do this!! Apart from anything else, my school is open this week and I can't do any of my clothes up.

Monkeytennis97 · 01/01/2021 12:22

@HarrietDVane welcome!!! Yup when I started in March I thought anything I do is better than before. Didn't go mad cutting calories (think I was on about 1800 a day) but got a Fitbit and walked/ jogged around the house (in the first lockdown I didn't go out the house for 6 weeks), got a treadmill and walked on that whilst watching walking videos on YouTube. Weight loss been a lot slower since September (funny that! Stress!) but still lost a stone and a few lbs since then. Good luck with it all I'm sure you'll smash it!

@CallmeAngelGabriel Welcome too!! Yay! We can all definitely do this! The dog got a Fitbit?!😂

Thanks for this thread. I have piled the weight on for the last 4 years. I was overweight in May on my 40th Birthday in May. I am now two stone over that. Not good.

Monkeytennis97 · 01/01/2021 12:24

@RigaBalsam welcome!! Here's to looking forwards!!:)

Marking place!

Saucery · 01/01/2021 12:28

Hello! Got 2st to lose, after weight crept up in my mid-40s. Peri-meno aches and pains stopped me running, GP couldn’t be less interested so after drifting along for a few years I’ve upped the Vit D and walk off the extra weight.

GleamingBaubles · 01/01/2021 12:30

Checking in! I am about 2 stone heavier than before Covid, and also drinking way too much.
I'm going to do dry January and aim to do RED January. But from tomorrow 🤣

Monkeytennis97 · 01/01/2021 12:35

Welcome @AllDoneIn @Saucery @GleamingBaubles 😊

What's Red January?

I've also upped my vit D, heard on Dr John Campbell that Dr Fauci was taking 6,000IU a day so I alternate between 4,000 and 6,000 daily and once back to March I'll take 2000.

What's RED January gleaming?

Thanks for this. Last NYD I was vowing to lose a stone by Easter and keep it off for the rest of the year. I guess I had a reasonably excuse with pandemic???

But no more.

Eating is SO emotional, isn't it? Wish this driver was addressed more.

It really is. I have palpitations and numb limbs with the rate at which I piled it on. None of my clothes fit either and I refuse to by more.
MrsHerculePoirot · 01/01/2021 12:38

I lost in first lockdown and saw a 12 (just) on the scales but levelled out around 13st3. Today I was 14st2 😱😱😱😱 nearly all of which has been December so I reckon I can get it off again!

GleamingBaubles · 01/01/2021 12:39

Run Every Day. Even if it is just the length of the drive and back.... (And it's a short drive) but the aim is you get dressed for exercise every day - because once you've got the sports bra on, you might as well do something! Grin

Monkeytennis97 · 01/01/2021 12:42

@GleamingBaubles just the word run brings me out in palpitations and a cold sweat 😂 I can manage light jogging on the treadmill now but too self conscious to do it outside. I reckon if I get another stone off by Easter I should be able to start running then... possibly....

CallmeAngelGabriel · 01/01/2021 12:43

They haven't yet made the sports bra that can take me on.

JanuaryChill · 01/01/2021 12:44

Oh my goodness just getting a sports bra on and off is a workout isn't it?!

On my last weight-loss blitz, I did loads of power-walking, really fast. After a while, as your stamina builds, you get to thinking that you could just tip over into a jog.
I also did Couch to 5K, (through a heat wave, and was so dedicated at the time that I would get up at 6 to run before it got too hot) but bailed mid-way through Week 5, when there was a massive leap. Stupid really, as I should just have kept at the stage I was at, rather than giving up altogether.
Trouble is, I broke my leg very badly around 8 years ago, and it's never fully recovered, so there's a limit to what I can do. Bizarrely, I can still ski, but that's out the window this year.

JanuaryChill · 01/01/2021 12:51

Monkey, think of what month it is now, and which it was yesterday....

(Not giving any answers for free here, oh no!)

RigaBalsam · 01/01/2021 12:52

I have to wear 2. 🙈
