The royal family

A bit of compassion for a King with cancer wouldn’t go amiss.

Yes, of course he is head of state but he is also a human being with cancer.

In the past few weeks alone he has faced the shock return of a treacherous son and an exploitative daughter in law set on destabilising the monarchy which is the King’s life works, and destroying any peace within the family.
When trying to deal with the situation he is damned if he says something to try to control them and damned if he doesn’t.

Now he has a vengeful ex brother in law accusing him (with zero evidence) of disgraceful comments and conduct at the time of the highly traumatic death of his late wife and also repeating scurrilous slander made by said ex wife (who was well known for her own vengeful nature) implying he is a closeted bisexual.

I am not of the #bekind brigade but as someone who has cancer myself I really would ask that a glimmer of humanity is shown to him.

Stress really does impact cancer. I would not be at all surprised if these dreadful goings on damage the Kings health very seriously.

I wonder if H&M or CS consider this at all or if they will feel any guilt should the King become more unwell?

Not something I could live had I treated a family member so badly.

This is like watching a family spat on FB or Instagram. It’s the Beckham or Ramsay Peaty feuds on steroids.

Megamegablahblah · 20/09/2026 17:38

I dont think Harry and Meghan are set on destabilising the monarchy. I think Charles and Williams priorities are to doggedly ensure a stable transition for William, plus I think the view was to have a smaller role for the monarchy.

Donttellhim · 20/09/2026 19:01

Seems very hypocritical to me. How dare anyone criticise Charles, but you can criticise who you like! A bit rich! I’d rather Harry to any of his family. At least he has some backbone!

I find Harry spineless, whiny and petulant and self absorbed. It's like he just can't move on. Totally obsessed with his late mother, so unhealthy.

i agree.

The Queen losing her beloved husband while a grandson and his new wife expel a lot of unkind things about her family. She is alone and her rock of a husband is dying and no doubt she knew her cancer was terminal. Move forward only a couple of years and now another meerkat pops their head up with also another book to sell while KC has cancer, how low can people go. Contents of which are the opposite of many interviews after Diana died.

No idea who is telling the truth, but I would imagine KC was compassionate as he always is and now CS is angry, grieved and can’t stand seeing someone else as Queen.

Compassion Fatigue over it all.

Ridiculous! He's a despicable man that deserves far more scrutiny than he's receiving. And PS whenever the family use the defence 'recollections may vary' or the equivalent, as we heard from Charles's office this week, it is because they are LYING!

Absolutely
It is so obvious that he is lying that I honestly can’t understand why anyone would choose to believe him
A man who was shagging a married woman . The self same woman was invited to his wedding. After marriage he continued to shag the married woman . He then married the woman he shagged .
He has the morals of a he goat .

A son that talks about his late mum is obsessive and unhealthy. Yet strangers that talk about that son and his wife every day, year after year, is what exactly? Mumsnet’s founder called them ‘deranged’. I can’t see how anyone of reason could disagree.

Have you seen the hundreds if not thousands of posts on MN about Harry and Meghan? Thats obsession!

Losing a parent is very tough, especially traumatically.

I'm sure people do have compassion for him with regards to having cancer. However he has consistantly shown himself to be a rude, arrogant, short-tempered man with little empathy for others. He has made poor decision after poor decision. Having cancer doesn't exempt anyone from the consequences of their actions. He also covered up for his disgraceful brother and is still doing so. He took the minimum action only due to facing the anger of the British public.

Don't worry too much about his cancer treatment. He is recieving the best money can buy whilst others die in hospital corridors.
You've given your opinion. This is mine. I won't enter into a debate as we are worlds apart. Done.

Edited

Yup, my thoughts exactly too.

Booksandsea · 20/09/2026 21:11

I agree. Compassion wouldn’t hurt anyone. As someone who has lost far too many people, I know how cruel people can be. His status and wealth don’t mean anything when family / health problems

3pm?? It takes all day?

11 a.m. to 11.45, RF in church, join in with the service and carols as they put it on a tannoy but it doesn't sound very far.
11.45 to 12, look at RF, looking from the back through all the raised cameras.
12 to 12.45, drift off and walk the dog for 30 minutes.
12.45 to 1.15 eat the turkey, bacon, stuffing and bread sauce crusty roll and drink the home-made excellent veg. soup while sitting in the car.
1.15 onwards, pottle off to the coast if possible or go home, hoping that the crew at home have got the goose cooking so that it will be ready for about 5 p.m.
Depending on how far away you live you might be home for the 3 p.m. speech.

Don't be rude to goats. 😆
I agree with you. If he had a shred of decency he wouldn't have married a very niave 19 year old and taken away her chance for a lovely marriage with a man who wasn't using her for her fertility.
Then he was incredibly jealous that she was so popular. Not happy for her that the public liked her but openly jealous like the petulant emotionally stunted man he is.
Since then he has done nothing of worth to show he cares about the British public even having an eyewateringly expensive corronation at a time when so many of his so called subjects couldn't afford to pay their basic living expenses. Then continuing to protect his disgraceful brother. He still is. If he really cared about the victims he would tell the police what he knows but he won't because he doesn't care one bit.
The fawners can continue to fawn all they like but they can't seem to get their head around the idea that most of the public feel differently.

It actually does. The king will get the best cancer treatment that will keep him alive far longer than if he was poor.

Apparently CS has written that Diana told him Charles was in love with his valet.

This was banded about years and years ago… I distinctly remember it being in the papers.

Yep. I'm obsessed with seeing them get their comeuppance after what they did. Yep. So what? Nobody likes to see injustice.

Agreed. Absolutely.
He has my absolute sympathy on that score. No question.
It doesn't however give him a special pass to perpetuate lies....(I'm referring to the Oprah interview)

I do get fed up of the royal family constantly using cancer to try and ward off any criticism.
Cancer is not rare. Unless you are pretty young you will either have had cancer, or has loved ones who have or had cancer.

Whoowhoopitstbesoundofthedapolice · 21/09/2026 08:26

It's like people forget, they wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.

They haven’t used it once.

Where is the evidence for your assertion?

I am the person suggesting a tiny bit of compassion, and I actually have terminal cancer and lost my mother to cancer as a child.

I don’t use it to ward off criticism either and of the many people I have known with cancer both personally and professionally I don’t know anybody who does.
