The royal family

A bit of compassion for a King with cancer wouldn’t go amiss.

Yes, of course he is head of state but he is also a human being with cancer.

In the past few weeks alone he has faced the shock return of a treacherous son and an exploitative daughter in law set on destabilising the monarchy which is the King’s life works, and destroying any peace within the family.
When trying to deal with the situation he is damned if he says something to try to control them and damned if he doesn’t.

Now he has a vengeful ex brother in law accusing him (with zero evidence) of disgraceful comments and conduct at the time of the highly traumatic death of his late wife and also repeating scurrilous slander made by said ex wife (who was well known for her own vengeful nature) implying he is a closeted bisexual.

I am not of the #bekind brigade but as someone who has cancer myself I really would ask that a glimmer of humanity is shown to him.

Stress really does impact cancer. I would not be at all surprised if these dreadful goings on damage the Kings health very seriously.

I wonder if H&M or CS consider this at all or if they will feel any guilt should the King become more unwell?

Not something I could live had I treated a family member so badly.

Well this thread went well OP!
regardless of people's opinions I do agree someone with cancer does need a little less stress.

He brought this stress on himself. If he wasn't the King he would have suffered a lot more and he got off extremely easily.

If he wants that, he can abdicate. It's his choice to make his life less stressful. So he needs to take responsibility for his choices in life.

I remember being impressed by Spencer’s eulogy. I have no idea whether he kept any of his promises to his young nephews, but his righteous anger seemed genuine at the time.

No, he did not.
Much later he admitted the boys were well cared for by the RF and he had little to do with their upbringing.
Doubtless too busy anyway with his own marital affairs and fractured family.
His speech at Diana’s funeral was truly “full of sound and fury signifying nothing”.

Okay got the message. People with cancer can never be criticised or held accountable for their actions.

Personally I hate the emotional manipulation of using cancer in this way.

The exact opposite of what I have said several times.
None so blind.

He’s a billionaire receiving the best care a person can get, and faces significantly less stress than most who are diagnosed with cancer. Perhaps if so many people have bad stories about him, they’re not the ones in the wrong?

They should face each other in the lists, like nobleman would have done in medieval times.

It’s ok.
I actually struggle with social conflict and sometimes sort of use the benefit of MN to try to toughen myself up a bit because nastiness seems to come with the territory here.
When it all gets too much I potter off to the Gardening board.
People are lovely there.

Agree 100%. Diana's brother slithering out of the woodwork like this is disgraceful. It's been 30 years - nearly - since Diana died, why did he not spill this vitriol in the 1990s? Why now? Is he so desperate for attention and money?

Urgh, just grubby! I feel like I need a shower now just typing this. 😖

What a bizarre overreaction! It’s probably because it’s the first time in decades that it has been publicly acceptable to criticise the monarchy vocally. Since all this business with Andrew, the nonce formerly known as prince, people have been a lot more vocal.

PrettyLittleRose · 18/09/2026 22:40

Yhjan · 18/09/2026 21:36

I think that many people are on the king’s side, despite his failings.

M&H are bitter, illogical and just deranged. Their actions make no sense. They have both trashed their own families repeatedly and shit talk for money. They’ve just returned to the UK having apparently escaped racism, suicidal feelings and a family they seem to despise. Hmm. Why? Want money? Want content? No person or business trusts them as they are proven liars.

CS looks like he needs money. He can say what he wants about Charles and Diana - that was a shitshow for sure - but let’s not forget his wife at the time, Victoria Lockwood, was despairing, in pain, anorexic, lonely and basically destroyed whilst she was married to him and he was cheating. I am old enough to remember the photos in the newspapers in the 80s/90s. Three divorces and about 7 children. Married for the 4th time recently. I don’t think it makes him sound loyal and reasonable. It makes him sound selfish, arrogant and ruthless. Again, book=money. I think he’s damaged his own reputation more than the king’s.

Couldn't agree more with this. ^ I am so baffled as to why Harry and Meghan have come back to the UK, after all they said about the UK, and the Royals. And Diana's brother coming out with this book and all his vile rantings is despicable.

It's true. Selling titles is a criminal offence.

BippidyBoppety · 18/09/2026 22:42

I find it sad that other stuff in KC's life that may be causing him stress are not mentioned.

Prince Andrew and the money paid to shut down the accusations against him.
Prince William and the rumours of his infidelity.
Princess of Wales and her recent cancer diagnosis.

But sure, Harry and Meghan, eh!

My opinion, cancer doesn't give you a pass. KC has access to the best treatments and doesn't have to worry about not getting appointments or meeting bills. KC's children are grown, don't need him for money.

I think CS's recollections are correct. KC was and is surrounded by sycophants and the men in grey who literally rely on him for their wage packets. I doubt KC thought CS would dare to question, or pass disapproval, on KC's statement about Diana's death. My opinion.

Supersimkin7 · 18/09/2026 22:45

Couldn’t agree more. Pointless nastiness for all concerned. Meh.

BoaAlba · 18/09/2026 22:45

While I’m paying my taxes to him and his family of fuckups, I want to watch him squirm.

Alternatively, he could abdicate and continue to be one of the richest people in Britain by birth rather than having actually worked for it, and use his position to get the best treatment for his cancer that money can afford. That’s our money and we can’t afford the same treatments.

sorry, no sympathy at all.

RaininSummer · 18/09/2026 22:47

Good point though it does sound like a Shakespearean tragedy plot when you put it all together.

I wonder which one of Diana’s many championed good causes will be receiving the proceeds of the book …..oh wait…

Spencer looking like a money grabbing little shit tbh. Don’t tell me that this wasn’t PR strategised with the Sussexes during their latest well publicised (by them) get together. Clear that Harry a chip off the old Spencer block.

Yep. I absolutely agree.

I don’t believe a word Spencer says. He’s been a cheating, useless husband and a rubbish dad. He’s got a lot of ex-wives to support and a big estate to maintain.

I think he & Harry are both flat broke.

RobertJohnsonsShoes · 18/09/2026 22:53

My heart fucking bleeds for him. Meanwhile us mere mortals have relatives dying due to an overstretched health service.

LipglossAndLies · 18/09/2026 22:54

Why does he need to control Harry jesus no wondered Harry wanted independence. Who in their 40s wants their parent to control them.

I have seen awful comments made about how other people causing stress has caused the other persons cancer. Wild! Its not proven medically that stress is the cause. A contributor possibly amongst so many other things.

And to add it is on each of us to control what affects us and manage our own stress, there is a level of personal accountability here too. You can still choose to let things affect you or not or find the right tools to manage and cope with it.

marlboro · 18/09/2026 22:56

My understanding is this:

charles never loved Diana, married her when she was basically still a kid, and was coercive and shit.

William had an affair, the royal family covered it up by vilifying Harry and Megan.

megan and Harry had to move their kids from school because a fellow mum doxxed them.

charles Spencer was barely talking to Diana when she died.

this is a fucked up family. I don’t understand why we’re all vehemently taking sides when they’re all shit to each other
