Kate & The Middletons

I am currently reading Russsll Myers Catherine & William. Enjoying it but one thing that stands out is how the Middletons have never put a foot wrong.
Carole was not from an aristocratic background nor was Michael but they raised their kids not to put a step wrong. Kate also had embarrassing family members (Uncle Gary) but she still invited him to the wedding which was the right thing to do & it nipped the media scandal in the bud & took the wind out of any sails.. Meghan invited none of her extended family or her dad & it caused massive media speculation.
Kate was born for royal life & is a natural. Very proud of our future queen. Her parents did an amazing job.

But what about Doria's family?!! They also spoke out about their confusion about not being invited to the wedding.. The niece that she was apparently very close to got no invite.. yet she invites the Clooneys who she never met!
You can't defend the indefensible, actions speak louder than words.
Poor A&L now have no relationship with their extended family either thanks the Hams actions.. and so the cycle continues. It's very sad.

It’s very sad is it?

I feel that there’s far more things to feel sad about than a bunch of rich, privileged people who for reasons we will never fully know, may have fallen out.

Why does it bother you who a couple you don’t know invited to their wedding years ago?

”I paid for my child, therefore I have every right to sell staged photos to the paparazzi and to sell my child’s personal letters to the tabloids.”

Exactly this. Imagine all the rights parents should get if we all acted like this.

Yeah who cares who a stranger invited to their own wedding. I invited people to my wedding in now would not have. But even I don't really care about it with my own wedding. It's not a big deal.

I've already corrected you saying she had no friends and no one at the wedding that she knew. As I said before she had a variety of friends there

Why do you keep repeating this nonsense and why aren't you keeping to your thread title?

You find it sad? No, you're loving it!😂

Lazy? LAZY? You try to stalk somebody for 9 years never putting a foot wrong. Her mum and she should be put in charge of some military-style planning operations - the amount of work that went into those 9 years - they worked so hard, it must have been exhausting!

Thats true actually. I forgot about all the hard graft they did to place her in the right position and at the right time in order to ensnare him!

After all that calculated work I can imagine she was simply too exhausted to ever work again.

Not spinning tales? Where was everyone from her side? No childhood or college friends? Her niece who she was apparently very closely didn't even make the cut.

You don't known why though so your spinning tales about how it means Meghan is x and Kaye is y. Do you go round quesrions the bride of every wedding you attend as to why certain people aren't there? Demanding a reason for it.

Not just a few years we are talking 8yrs abo practically a decade. These people will still be going on about for redt of their lives no doubt. Baffling why it takes up peoples heads space for so long.

I can understand someone not forgetting or getting over more serious things like trauma but a strangers wedding and who didn’t attend...🫣

It is seriously weird. Some of the comments are like the Benjamin button of posts! We'll be back to the roast chicken and engagement dress in no time!

I do think C does well as Princess of Wales. Now, she in no way had a middle class "non-aristocratic" upbringing. Her boarding fees for one of the most exclusive schools in the country were paid from her father's trust fund. That's upper class, not middle class. And while she might not have had a title in front of her name, she would have been exposed to all the unwritten rules and behaviour of the upper classes of British society from a very young age. Meghan had no such head start.

That said, even the most aristocratic wither and rot in the microscopic view of the British media, public, and the internal royal expectations. I think she made her peace with the restrictions very early on. I mean, she very likely has had to put up with William's infidelity, just as the Queen put up with Prince Philip's. I read Baroness Glenconner's book (a great read) and she explained how, in the very upper classes, it's just completely accepted that your husband (and sometimes wife) will have affairs. You don't leave each other because of it. Look at Camilla, her husband knew all about her affair for years. That's got to be tough, on top of all the restrictions on how you must look, speak, dress, dress your children etc etc. You can tell that she lost weight post-engagement, and has been underweight ever since. That's never a good sign.

There's only a very small cohort of even the upper echelons of society who'll put up with that. And to be perfectly honest, there probably has to be something a little askew in the head that you would be willing to put up with it. The money and the Hello covers just wouldn't be worth it for a normal, well-adjusted person. I would think that she has some chronic self esteem issues, and that being William's wife artificially fills that hole.

Having said that, just because normal well-adjusted people wouldn't put up with it doesn't mean Meghan and Harry are normal or well adjusted. While Meghan absolutely did not deserve the lambasting she got from the press - which likely did have an element of racism in it - she's clearly a fame-hungry idiot. If you were trying to make a mess of your reputation and brand, you couldn't possibly have made the amount of missteps that pair have made.

But just because Meghan's an idiot, doesn't make Catherine some kind of paragon of virtue. They both have their problems.

marlboro · 18/09/2026 11:36

I always thought Harry and Megan were thrown under the bus because William had an affair and the rf tried to cover it up?

ERthree · 18/09/2026 11:37

GhostEed · 17/09/2026 19:03

Kate is also lazy AF!

You think a woman raising her children is as lazy as fuck ! What a delight you are.

That's the general consensus alright. The affair with Rose Hanbury was around the same time.

🙄

with all the insane privileges that she has access to whilst parenting her three school age children, yes, I think she’s lazy.

lastapache · 18/09/2026 11:52

I don't think she's lazy. If you add up the royal engagements and the prep time for them, she likely works a standard 35 hour week. And with the intense scrutiny when carrying out the engagements, she earns her dosh. She could have married a hedge fund manager, like her sister, had an equivalent lifestyle and never lifted a finger.

I wouldn't call any of the working royals lazy to be honest. Should they have that lifestyle when all their doing is cutting ribbons and making speeches? Probably not. But there's lots of richer people who do worse things and get paid billions. Look at the tech bros. The Royal Family are small fry.

twocornichons · 17/09/2026 17:33

I don’t think they’ve been a huge asset to the crown at all ! Illness aside ( and this is before she became unwell) Kate could have done an awful lot more to help Meghan who was being bullied by the press - all whilst spearheading an anti bullying campaign ! Oh the irony .. luckily I don’t want to read about them but an asset they clearly are not

Oh the irony indeed! Meghan is the bully.....clearly to anyone with eyes, ears and half a brain cell. Kate & William are a huge asset to the crown! Thank the Lord William was the first born son.

EvieBB · 18/09/2026 11:54

Tabbytiger122 · 17/09/2026 18:08

How could she have helped? Any advice offered by Kate or Sophie was not heeded !!! Also that would be her husband, the Queen & KCs remit, not Kates!
You can only help people who want to be helped!
I for one think we are incredibly lucky to have Kate, she has never publicly embarrassed herself or her family as she was raised so well.

Edited

Absolutely this!
Meghan always knows best - they tried to help her, but she could never take advice. Naricissits can't. They're incapable.

How so? Meghan is the lazy one. She didn't want to turn up to the Royal events e.g. the garden party that she said was boring and said she couldn't bleieve she wasnt getting paid for! The cheek of her. The entitlement!
Weren't she and Harry called lazy grifters because they didn't want to put the work in to their Netflix deal.
Kate is kind, graceful and the epitome of a Queen.
Meghan is a narcissitic nightmare.

We already established she had no family barr poor Doria.
I asked you for proof of the friends. Who were the old school & college friends? The suits gang were co workers..
Neighbours?? Kate had the whole of Bucklebury village there to celebrate with her!

I agree with a lot you are saying but I don't think Kate was as posh as that? Carol came from a council estate she wouldn't have had a clue about the finer intricacies of upper class life. Did Michael?
I just think they did what any good parents with a bit of money did & invested in education. They ensured the children had a lovely upbringing with family at the heart of everything & it's so lovely to see the Middletons so united & together always. The Wales children are so lucky to have them ,KC & all the extended family

But hedge fund managers and wealthy people working in tech aren’t funded from the public purse unlike the royals.

As someone else quoted below, she does about 60 odd engagements per year. I can’t imagine what prep she has to do besides picking out a nice frock and doing her hair. But then she probably doesn’t do that herself either! There is no way she’s ‘working’ a 35 hour week

How anyone can defend her after her behaviour is mind boggling

You keep going on about the Clooneys for some obsessed reason.

George will have known H's late mother probably since the 1980s. What do you not understand about including one of your Mum's friends to a big celebration?
