Kate & The Middletons

I am currently reading Russsll Myers Catherine & William. Enjoying it but one thing that stands out is how the Middletons have never put a foot wrong.
Carole was not from an aristocratic background nor was Michael but they raised their kids not to put a step wrong. Kate also had embarrassing family members (Uncle Gary) but she still invited him to the wedding which was the right thing to do & it nipped the media scandal in the bud & took the wind out of any sails.. Meghan invited none of her extended family or her dad & it caused massive media speculation.
Kate was born for royal life & is a natural. Very proud of our future queen. Her parents did an amazing job.

Meghan’s current YouGov rating is 18%.

The same as Fergie’s.

It’s hard to imagine how that is even possible but I’d not describe her as an asset.

She was a disaster in the RF - she didn’t get it, and confused the role with being a celeb. It’s totally different. She was offered help from many quarters but rejected it all, saying “I’ve got Harry to help me”. H was as much use in advising her as a chocolate teapot.

I’m not dismissing this point but I know (through friends’ experiences) that independent school fees were far mor modest in the 90s when the Middletons would have been in school. Rather like the housing boom of the 80s, things changed in the 2010s. In the 90s most independent schools (OK, not Eton) would hav3 been within the reach of middle class professionals - doctors, lawyers, accountants, business owners. That’s changed now as they try to attract they international super-rich.

Maybe there was family money too from Mr M’s side.

True, the world was a different place.

Where does the cash purchase of a flat (albeit with a très fashionable address) costing over three times more than the family home just seven years later fit in?

She was offered the help of lady hussey who was subsequently exposed in a racist incident. I would have said no to her as well

Inheritance? Maybe Mr M was the recipient of several legacies - it can happen if someone has childless elderly relatives as well as parents. But I’m just guessing.

I think Meghan was an asset to the RF and they should’ve looked after her better.

Delusional!!!

It certainly seems to have turned a decent enough profit (around £100k pa from memory) for similar sized competitors but it remains hard to see how it all stretched to very expensive educations x 3 and a Chelsea flat when the most expensive item in the catalogue was priced at £50.

I think the private education was paid for via grandfather's trust fund

Your writing sounds like you are upset. Of course @CoffeeCantata cant make you lie down. No more than you can stop me from posting.

I never told you to stop posting lets be very clear about that. If you read my comments and decide to interpret it as angry that's your choice but I am not and Im telling you very clearly that I am not. Unlike others on here who are emotionally invested and have a parasocial relationship resulting in what they do to affect their emotions...and they have made it clear it has, when they write they are frustrated etc.

Just because you think I am angry doesnt mean I am.

Meghan was also offered the help of QEII’s equerry Lieutenant Colonel Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankrah. In his book Endgame, author Omid Scobie wrote that Meghan Markle felt "insulted" when palace aides suggested this.

Also, you may have missed that in an interview with Tom Bradbury after the Lady Susan Hussey affair Prince Harry stated that he and Meghan love Lady Susan, and that she had meant no harm at all? He said the media reaction to the matter was horrendous.

TheOvertGardener · 03/10/2026 23:37

She was also offered and declined help from Sophie and provided with volumes of helpful info.

It’s incredible to me.

You wrote what you wrote and it’s there for all to see.

That’s not why I said your writing sounded angry though.

It appears you are emotionally invested and have a parasocial relationship of your own with posters here. You so rarely seem to actually comment on the royal family, though.

This thread is bizarre and completely off topic! , not sure why ham have been added to the discussion…..however once again for avoidance of doubt……..harry and Meghan ….. h and m ……H&M …….ham ……it’s that simple……and frankly if it avoids yet another post about…..I thought we were discussing a clothes store…well I’m thankful!

I am not on here often so not investing huge amounts of my time in the discussions and when I did check back in its the same old childish playground behaviour. 💁‍♀️ what else is there to comment on this particular thread to be honest I already made comments much earlier, I don’t need to come back every day and give more on the topic when I hsve said what I needed to, nor do I like to repeatedly make the same point, half the comments on this board is repetitive statements.

How many times does on person need to say they didn't like the wedding or they find Meghan awful. What purpose does it serve to keep coming back and saying that?

So no I am not emotionally invested whatsoever otherwise you would see me making daily comments for days, weeks, months and years. Only those invested do that, those who aren't can quote happily not post for days or weeks etc because its not that important to them.

For those that asked, yes posters on this thread were active in the Where’s Kate threads albeit under different names.

Yes. That is an accusation no one can prove and it's just baseless. Unless a person has access to all poster's namechanges, which they won't have. I avoided those threads as they were out of control big time

It’s certainly a bit bonkers, Jeff!
@TheOvertGardener and @Serenster - you are both absolutely correct about the thoughtful and varied mentoring that M was offered by the RF. I don’t know what some pps are reading to come out with their crazy assertions.

M’s mistake was threefold: she thought H would tell her all she needed to know, she thought royalling was the same as being a Hollywood A- lister (which was her dream) and finally, she doesn’t think she has anything to learn from anyone.

Big mistake, huge!

JacknDiane · 04/10/2026 08:41

You must have a bloody sad life to be so invested in folk who wouldn't spit on you if you were on fire @Tabbytiger122.

Either that or writing this nonsense is your job.

Can’t let this distortion of the truth go.

You are just wrong here. Do better research.
