Kate & The Middletons

I am currently reading Russsll Myers Catherine & William. Enjoying it but one thing that stands out is how the Middletons have never put a foot wrong.
Carole was not from an aristocratic background nor was Michael but they raised their kids not to put a step wrong. Kate also had embarrassing family members (Uncle Gary) but she still invited him to the wedding which was the right thing to do & it nipped the media scandal in the bud & took the wind out of any sails.. Meghan invited none of her extended family or her dad & it caused massive media speculation.
Kate was born for royal life & is a natural. Very proud of our future queen. Her parents did an amazing job.

I never said, not once, that it was 'Markle' just on this thread. I was speaking in general which is obvious by my posts.

Your posts are not obvious to me. You wrote “totally daft” and I had not the slightest clue what you meant.

But if you all want to just talk about names people haven’t actually called Meghan on a thread about Catherine, have at it. 🤷‍♀️

Here you are again trying to tell others people what to do like you control them. No I dont need to lie down and I dont need to calm down. I dont get upset, angry, frustrated or disgusted as you do and as you have said in your past comments that's how you are feeling. Seems like you're projecting your behaviours onto me.

Your writing sounds like you are upset. Of course @CoffeeCantata cant make you lie down. No more than you can stop me from posting.

Why does everyone say that she’s lazy?

Because she is.

I didn't bring it up!

And the totally daft was about posters insisting she is called Sussex or something, and not Meghan Markle.

Because she is.

I watched a video of her meeting with people recently and heartily disagree.

I am confused about this entire line of discussion now.

And it’s also fine to say that calling a woman just by her surname is rude.
meghan Markle fine
markle. Rude

What respect has Markle ever shown to Britain or it's Royal Family?
Respect it's earned by actions. It's not a birthright or obligatory due to who you marry.

I think Meghan was an asset to the RF and they should’ve looked after her better.

Theres a lot of money in it and I think Carole in particular worked very hard to build the business.I used to buy stuff for my children long ago before I’d ever heard of the Middletons.

You and me both!

I’m sure it’s deliberate- they start losing the argument so resort to personal attacks. It’s a well- worn path.

simpsonthecat · 03/10/2026 18:23

I went to edit my post but it was too late. I am not ploughing through a huge thread I am not interested in, even though you want me to. And I am not here to police other posters. Unless it breaks TG or is a direct personal attack to me.

Well my policy is always to be as well informed as I can be before entering a debate about something but if you don't do that that's absolutely your right. It just could lead to you misunderstanding many of the relevant points in the discussion . It may also cause others to disregard your opinions as they may well be less informed or incorrect. It would be like me joining a thread about keeping pigeons in the Pets category when I've never read anything about them or have no personal knowledge of them. I wouldn't be qualified to talk with much authority about them.

And yes right on cue the new posters arrive 🤷‍♀️😂

Feel free to disregard my opinion, that is no problem to me. It's just opinions. We all have them.

It certainly seems to have turned a decent enough profit (around £100k pa from memory) for similar sized competitors but it remains hard to see how it all stretched to very expensive educations x 3 and a Chelsea flat when the most expensive item in the catalogue was priced at £50.

She really truly was an asset.

To some. Just maybe not the RF.

TheOvertGardener · 03/10/2026 20:26

Meghan’s current YouGov rating is 18%.

The same as Fergie’s.

It’s hard to imagine how that is even possible but I’d not describe her as an asset.

I read the article you posted about this and it is hard to imagine. I guess it’s not our business but I’ll admit I’m curious.

Edited

I’m not dismissing this point but I know (through friends’ experiences) that independent school fees were far mor modest in the 90s when the Middletons would have been in school. Rather like the housing boom of the 80s, things changed in the 2010s. In the 90s most independent schools (OK, not Eton) would hav3 been within the reach of middle class professionals - doctors, lawyers, accountants, business owners. That’s changed now as they try to attract they international super-rich.

Maybe there was family money too from Mr M’s side.
