Kate & The Middletons

I am currently reading Russsll Myers Catherine & William. Enjoying it but one thing that stands out is how the Middletons have never put a foot wrong.
Carole was not from an aristocratic background nor was Michael but they raised their kids not to put a step wrong. Kate also had embarrassing family members (Uncle Gary) but she still invited him to the wedding which was the right thing to do & it nipped the media scandal in the bud & took the wind out of any sails.. Meghan invited none of her extended family or her dad & it caused massive media speculation.
Kate was born for royal life & is a natural. Very proud of our future queen. Her parents did an amazing job.

Another thread to bash Meghan with the same old tired comments that have been said hundreds of times over. Its permanent groundhog day.

I don’t think they’ve been a huge asset to the crown at all ! Illness aside ( and this is before she became unwell) Kate could have done an awful lot more to help Meghan who was being bullied by the press - all whilst spearheading an anti bullying campaign ! Oh the irony .. luckily I don’t want to read about them but an asset they clearly are not

Perhaps instead Kate should have focussed her time on and efforts on the staff members who were bullied by Meghan?

I often wonder what Pippa & Vogue chat about at the dinner table in Eden Rock. Probably the kids… Wonder if they get on together?

Vogue is usually very open but she never mentions Pippa but then again in those circles you must close rank so I'd imagine Vogue is very loyal to Pippa.

If you read the book you will find out that both Catherine & William were furious behind the scenes & very concerned for the ex Ham staff but the palace didn't want Megs behaviour leaked to the press so didn't handle it appropriately.

How do you know M wasn’t cool, calm and collected? Do you know her personally? Are you Carole Middleton?

Interesting article here highlighting my points!

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle put on blast: ‘Do you never plan a few moves ahead?’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just got their backsides handed to them, and it coms straight from one of the most candid royal commentators in the British press, Sarah Vine. She shared her two cents...

I think Kate is perfect for her role. She’s thin and photogenic and smiley. She is completely and utterly bland and inoffensive and has fulfilled her brood mare role nicely.

She’s a terrible public and off-the-cuff speaker, but that is hardly ever required so it doesn’t really matter. Turn up, smile and repeat. 10/10.

I agree with you here , Pippa definitely pulled the better straw. Her life is idyllic. Yet Pippa was also raised the same as Kate & has never done anything to embarrass her sister.

The brother is certainly embarrassing!

I have a suspicion that they don’t.

Kate was damned if she did and damned if she didn't work . If she had a job she would be hounded by Press or accused of using her connections. Sophie also had to give up work . William seems to prioritise his family , unlike Charles who wasn't very available and Anne who was raised in the remoteness way by the Queen and Philip. He will have a lifetime of public duty ahead . I'd focus on my young kids too.
Some people just have nice decent families who want the best for their children. Lucky William that he got a chance to meet them.

And just in comparison to Meghan , Kate took advice and guidance for years about the expectations and protocols that were usual . Meghan seems to have rushed into the RF and seemed to ignore the guidelines or prefer to not engage . Which is OK too as I am sure she found somethings ridiculous and old fashioned. Like not closing your car door. But unfortunately you then open yourself to criticism when going against the Establishment. Felt sorry that she couldn't handle the OP pressure as it seemed to deeply affect her .

In what way? He seems a very decent man, husband & father. He has overcame severe dyslexia & has always been very loyal to his sisters & family.
Even if he was embarrassing as you put it Kate still had him do a reading at her wedding, is often seen at events with him & they are very close.
Family is everything & Kate is so fortunate to be surrounded by such a close knit family & it shows in the way her own family is being raised.

Hasn't he had a fair number of business flops? he's probably a really nice guy, but you are making a rather binary judgement about this family when, to be fair, they will have their foibles like the rest of us ordinary folk.

Not very good for Carole’s carefully curated brand, He dated Donna AIr (gasp), a northern (gasp) single mum (gasp) who was in not one, but two reality shows when they started dating (gasp). Pearl clutching all round. As I say, not on brand.

Asuitablecat · 17/09/2026 21:22

I'd be bloody great in Kate's role. I'm educated, well versed in history and decorum, diplomatic, grew up in a family v v conscious of doing the right thing and behaving properly. I'm a teacher, so I can smile on cue; swallow lots of bullshit and feign interest in the most mundane of topics.

Unfortunately I'm the wrong class.
And my accent is wrong.
And I'm anti- monarchy.
And I don't fancy William.

ThrwhelsOntHEbuzgoroundandrund · 17/09/2026 21:25

Perhaps you’d be better suited to Harry?

No. He's too thick.

But you’d have lots of Lizzie Arden at hand and would have no chapped skin in the winter. 😉

So what if he had business flops? Kate certainly wasn't embarrassed! The important thing was he kept going. He has a beautiful wife, family & seems to enjoy a very idyllic life in the countryside with his gorgeous dogs. Nowt embarrassing in that.
He also suffers from sever dyslexia yet stood up in front of the world to do a reading at his sisters wedding...

Kate also had the benefit of an expensive private school education and very wealthy parents. Her father went to public school and there were already royal connections and substantial inherited wealth. Their backgrounds are in no way comparable.

Well don't rule yourself out just yet. The press bullied poor Kate for years for being the wrong class. In typical Kate fashion still upper lip, no comment & rises above the noise!

Meghan also had the benefits of a top education, she went to a very expensive private Catholic school paid for by the father she disowned.
Carole was not wealthy whatsoever so Carole also had no idea of elite life when she married Michael.

I’ll always love those pictures of K-Middy skipping around the Kings Road just before she got married. She understood the brief perfectly (future Queen is pretty huge!). Taking that last moment of freedom, good for her!
