Kate & The Middletons

I am currently reading Russsll Myers Catherine & William. Enjoying it but one thing that stands out is how the Middletons have never put a foot wrong.
Carole was not from an aristocratic background nor was Michael but they raised their kids not to put a step wrong. Kate also had embarrassing family members (Uncle Gary) but she still invited him to the wedding which was the right thing to do & it nipped the media scandal in the bud & took the wind out of any sails.. Meghan invited none of her extended family or her dad & it caused massive media speculation.
Kate was born for royal life & is a natural. Very proud of our future queen. Her parents did an amazing job.

For the avoidance of doubt-neither. Just pointing out that calling real life children in public life by silly nicknames is-or should be- unacceptable. And calling the DofS Markle is no more acceptable than calling the PofW Middleton.

For the avoidance of doubt, you have done the same thing.

Instead of pointing out it was unacceptable, you then made up your own little nickname to demonstrate what you perceive as nastiness.

You are just the same as those who use hamlets.

Nonone is asking you to say anything so don't lol. I came on this thread to see what was being discussed and join in but what I saw was pathetic childish behaviour over nicknames, so I said so.

Edited

I think you need to remove the log from your own eye.

Hey Folks, @LipglossAndLies says no one has asked me to post here. Is that how you all feel?

Honestly, take no notice, Overt.

The pomposity of some pps is ridiculous!

You have my permission to keep on posting!😄

@OneLilacHedgehog is your and @simpsonthecat's search function broken? I was able to locate said post on the RF board quite quickly

The way the horrible name was talked about, it came across as being on this thread and I had not seen it.

I have searched the word wank on RF threads in the last YEAR and can see wankers, wanky and all sorts but nothing calling W&K that. But I was losing the will to live and wondering why I was wasting my time doing this! So it can't be prolific if I couldn't find it!

I think the problem they are having with this particularly is that Markle just sounds different than Middleton. I have no real problem with Catherine being called Middleton. I doubt she does either.

I can’t put my finger on it but Markle sounds less nice. Maybe like Urkele?

Why thank you! And sorry you’re the pile on person of the day. Wear it as a badge of honor given the history here.

@CoffeeCantata you have been asked for proof that anyone used the nickname wank, because the mner wanted to report it. I have never seen anyone here posting that name either.
I don't understand why you are defending you and others name calling.

I can’t get my mind round this sudden outbreak of primness. My goodness- you should have been on this board a year or so ago! Your eyes would have been scorched.

HAM is an acronym. If it’s used as a nickname, it’s a very mild and innocuous one. I would defend it. I would have no real objection either to people callling the Waleses WAC, by the same analogy.

And I say again (and no doubt will be ignored again): I don’t take prim lectures on online conduct from pps who maliciously post dodgy photos of WAC I order to deliberately blacken their reputation. That’s absolutely despicable and you have consistently refused to explain why you did that, despite many pps asking you.

As a pp said - reflect on your own conduct before piling on others.

Or maybe some of us just think adults should not be name calling?

I think there's nothing wrong with either surname but I just can't imagine calling any female by their surname! Maybe that's just me!

I’ve been on here on and off long enough to know that it’s Team Sussex people who behave like this.

Oh - next stop: they’ll deny they’re “Team Sussex”…it’s so predictable. 🙄

It’s an acronym. It’s not going away. No matter how many times you insult people and try to shame by using words like adults, childish, maturity. So you might want to find new schtick.

@ThrwhelsOntHEbuzgoroundandrund

Well, the lols are always a giveaway for me!

”LOL”

i didn’t know anyone still used that?!

I didn’t even see anyone call anyone by their surname but apparently that’s what this thread is about now.

I am quite dubious that the complaining post would actually object to someone using “Middleton” though. It would be quite a shock to see any respect or defense of Catherine by them.

Name calling how?

I’d be fascinated to hear what names are being called on here!

TheOvertGardener · 03/10/2026 12:33

I’m cracking up if anyone thinks HAM is going away. The acronym will fall out of use once they stop planting stories about themselves on two continents.

You haven't seen anyone call Meghan by her surname?
Really?

I was trying to discuss pleasantly with you my views on calling women because their surname.
I would hate Kate to be called Middleton. It's rude
As is Markle

Me too. It’s an acronym, fgs!

And if it’s raises a slight smile, it’s a very harmless one.

But some pps with a dodgy posting record themselves think they can deflect from their own behaviour by manufacturing faux indignation over an acronym.

I will continue to use it until MN (ooh another acronym) meme me type the whole thing out!

ThrwhelsOntHEbuzgoroundandrund · 03/10/2026 12:39

i agree re ‘Markle’.

But people are then getting told off for calling her Meghan Markle.

i understand and agree with the first.

The second not so much.

No, not here on this thread. When did it occur? I have no idea why it’s even come up.

Well, to be strict about it, she’s Catherine.

When I mention Meghan herself I do always call her Meghan - or M if I’ve mentioned her already, and the same for C.

But it’s true.

People are having a go for not addressing her as Sussex.
