Kate & The Middletons

I am currently reading Russsll Myers Catherine & William. Enjoying it but one thing that stands out is how the Middletons have never put a foot wrong.
Carole was not from an aristocratic background nor was Michael but they raised their kids not to put a step wrong. Kate also had embarrassing family members (Uncle Gary) but she still invited him to the wedding which was the right thing to do & it nipped the media scandal in the bud & took the wind out of any sails.. Meghan invited none of her extended family or her dad & it caused massive media speculation.
Kate was born for royal life & is a natural. Very proud of our future queen. Her parents did an amazing job.

This is a curious post and I don’t know what to say about it.

You care to bitch about how people post here. Do you need an audience for that? What’s your purpose?

fuschiaproudparrot · 03/10/2026 02:32

She doesn't get it @TheOvertGardener 😉

CoffeeCantata · 03/10/2026 06:36

Just reading this thread - some horrible posts from unpleasant-sounding pps!

I’ve learned it’s what we’ve come to expect when the HAMs are making fools of themselves- their desperate supporters just start throwing insults around.

LipglossAndLies · 03/10/2026 01:50

Except I am not going round saying no one cares. 🤪

It's like a school playground on here

That’s what I find so depressing. Ugh - do people never grow up?

I just see crude bullying. What has Catherine or her family ever done to deserve the attacks and the spite? AND the poor woman has had/has cancer. But no, for some reason, on the highly dodgy evidence of someone who was intensely jealous of her from the get-go (even before they met!), she is vilified and subjected to horrible bullying.

Shame on those bullies.

I wonder how cawvids was meant.

A little affectionately? Being witty? Downright nasty?

For the avoidance of doubt-neither. Just pointing out that calling real life children in public life by silly nicknames is-or should be- unacceptable. And calling the DofS Markle is no more acceptable than calling the PofW Middleton.

I think it depends - not all nicknames are equal. I think HAM and Hamlets is rather sweet - and before I’m jumped in, I feel nothing but goodwill towards the Small Sussexes (er, well, I feel concerned for them, but nothing unkind) and the Wales children.

But HAM is simply a funny acronym for Harry and Meghan - it’s not insulting or crude or defamatory. Yes, it’s mildly mocking , as in ham actor, but honestly, if that offends you, the internet is no place for you!

WANK, on the other hand, as an acronym for William and Catherine, IS offensive and - it doesn’t quite work, does it? Her name begins with a C.

This is a complicated narrative.

@CoffeeCantata I don't believe you. I don't think an adult who constantly says negative things about two strangers, is using a made up name for those strangers and children in an affectionate way.

Edit the quote is a mistake, I can't remove it on edit.

I agree! As if HAM is said in an affectionate way, as if! I don't think there would be a running thread over 46,000 posts criticising them and calling them every name under the sun but HAM used by those posters is affectionate! 😂🤣😅

As I’m sure you realise, you can’t possibly know what every single different poster using that abbreviation is thinking. You are assuming malicious intention from all of them. That’s your bias showing.

Your post goes without saying. Yes, I am assuming. A lot of the posts that I see using HAM go on to fiercely criticise them or call them names. I can't be bothered to try and analyse what every poster is thinking, but I am making a broad statement, a generalisation, guilty as charged Guv!!

it ridiculous that posters are say ham and hamlets is affectionate.
why don't people just own the fact that it is meant in a negative way.

also strange that negative posts about the POW is seen as "crude bullying"
yet the 100000000000000plus posts being negative about the DOS is not !!!!!!!!!!!!

No- one said it was affectionate! Where do you get this stuff from? You are making things up.

I said HAM was a) inoffensive as nicknames go, and contrasted it with the deliberately offensive, and not actually very fitting (wrong initial) WANK. I mean, try arguing that these two are equivalent- good luck with that!

and b) in the British satirical tradition of mocking self-important people. I think they get off lightly.

And Hamlets is just sweet - happy to have had my children called similar.

But you crazy Sussex Folk - you just love to misunderstand, misinterpret and make pps who express themselves perfectly clearly repeat things.

All because it just HAS to seem that your idols are poor little victims. 😂

Sweet also means affectionate.
You are not being sweet. You say lots of extremely nasty things about two strangers.

Calling people with a different opinion to you 'Crazy Suffolk folk' is rude. But I expect no less

HAM has been discussed before and someone said it was affectionate.

Could you link to where anyone on here has called William & Kate WANK because I want to report it. Thanks.
I don't do stupid nicknames, it just means the post who says it means less to me.

OneLilacHedgehog · 03/10/2026 11:01

Nonone is asking you to say anything so don't lol. I came on this thread to see what was being discussed and join in but what I saw was pathetic childish behaviour over nicknames, so I said so.

Why not? I don’t use things like Megain, or Mme- again, or WANK, or Chucles ir Billy Idle or Waity Katie…all of which you will find on here. They’re nicknames - get over it. People in public life (Bojo, Fergie, you name them) get them - newsflash.

Don’t try picking on me, Lilac. You have disgraced yourself on a recent thread and been called out for it. Look to your own conduct, please.

Are you suggesting I’m alone in using HAMS? And which other nickname do I use? Bet you can’t answer that!😄

OneLilacHedgehog · 03/10/2026 11:19

@CoffeeCantata you have been asked for proof that anyone used the nickname wank, because the mner wanted to report it. I have never seen anyone here posting that name either.
I don't understand why you are defending you and others name calling.

Were you around during the “Where’s Kate?” SM bullying campaign? The stuff on here was awful.

No, I’m sorry I can’t link to anything, firstly because I’m not techie and secondly because I’m struggling with an ancient, slow iPad.

Anyone who’s been on here a while knows exactly how nasty the anti-Catherine posts have been.
