Kate & The Middletons

I am currently reading Russsll Myers Catherine & William. Enjoying it but one thing that stands out is how the Middletons have never put a foot wrong.
Carole was not from an aristocratic background nor was Michael but they raised their kids not to put a step wrong. Kate also had embarrassing family members (Uncle Gary) but she still invited him to the wedding which was the right thing to do & it nipped the media scandal in the bud & took the wind out of any sails.. Meghan invited none of her extended family or her dad & it caused massive media speculation.
Kate was born for royal life & is a natural. Very proud of our future queen. Her parents did an amazing job.

I did not say that MEGHAN MARKLE was wrong.
I said MARKLE
just MARKLE No Meghan.

ThrwhelsOntHEbuzgoroundandrund · 29/09/2026 16:23

Just addressing her as ‘Marks’ I concede is rude AF. And not something most would choose to do.

But saying Meghan Markle isn’t necessarily hateful or rude.

My mother is known by most of her friends by her maiden name. She’s known them since school and has been married for almost 60 years. I find nothing hateful in that.

I despair in folk being aggrieved for others especially when it isn’t something important in the big scheme of things.

And when they don’t know them from a rock.

No need to shout dear.

I was addressing the poster above you.

I have addressed your post now.

“Dear”. Nice. Now where’s that twat banner when we need it?

simpsonthecat · 29/09/2026 16:28

ThrwhelsOntHEbuzgoroundandrund · 29/09/2026 15:10

Refreshing it is.

Because to find offence in everything I think would be bloody tiresome.

It is lovely to see you feel the same way.

If HAM and Hamlets are said with affection, of course I agree! Who wouldn't.

It’s just another microaggression.

I call folk dear in everyday life. it is nice and no-one finds offence in it because there is none meant.

As for bandying about the term microaggression?

Theres a banner for that too.

You have no proof it is said with hate or nastiness or anything else.

It is merely your perception. You can think however you like. I like to think good of people until they give me reason not to.

Like now, for instance.

U53rName · 29/09/2026 16:46

We all know what it means when someone calls a woman “dear”. You’re quite well versed in using microaggressions. No surprises for someone who claims to have a twat banner. As they say…if the shoe fits.

simpsonthecat · 29/09/2026 16:52

If ever anyone calls me 'dear' on here it is always with sarcasm about something. I find it patronising.

I wouldn't dream of calling anyone 'dear' on here!

Jimsaidpeoplearestrange · 29/09/2026 16:57

Some people could have an argument in an empty room.

@simpsonthecat as if it’s meant affectionately.

Now we are discussing Meghan and Dear and twats.

A total derail. Bravo.

I myself wouldn’t dream of bashing someone’s marriage or denying a woman had cancer but it takes all types to make a forum, doesn’t it?

I don’t think you know what micro aggression means. It’s certainly not calling a bunch of rich old retired white ladies* “dear”

*not my description of this forum’s members, but it’s a common one.

Mistyglade · 29/09/2026 17:08

The Middletons are just very decent people. I suppose it’s novel because Royalty tends to be littered with scandals (to keep us interested & entertained).

ThrwhelsOntHEbuzgoroundandrund · 29/09/2026 17:08

‘Some people could have an argument in an empty room.’

It certainly seems to be the case.

As for calling someone dear? You have made your own opinions up on what I meant by one one word. I know how I meant it and am not responsible for how you take it based on how others have used it previously.

As for micro aggressions? I’ve had them my whole life. I am well versed in them. You are correct. Not in using them but receiving them.

If you could give me an example of the micro aggressions I have used? Not an interpretation. Actual instances. I’d be interested to see them.

But I won’t be responding to yet another derail. See the quote in bold at the top.

There have been scandals around the Middletons. We all know it, so not sure why you are denying it

Are you saying I have derailed the thread, when I have made one comment on the use of the word 'dear'.
How odd.

Do feel free to report me if that helps you.

Right ok, I wasn’t aware of any so we don’t ’all know it’.

Rather aggressive language, I’m not ‘denying’ anything.

I’ll keep my innocuous comments to myself shall I. ConfusedConfused

Well quite.

I despise those who rattle on about a divorce for H&M. They say they are happy so that is enough. l

The cancer thing? That was pretty shady too.

It takes all types as you say.

Mistyglade · 29/09/2026 17:25

All my life I’ve heard that who a man married makes all the difference. William and Catherine are a perfect example. The love, safety and stability the Middletons provided as parents is now being extended to the next generation.

They do seem like nice people I agree but nice people also have times where they make a mess of life and sometimes the lives of other people.

What I will say is that they have been admirable in keeping their mouths shut and not briefing the press every two minutes.

It isn’t hard to do yet some clearly struggle with it.

Your comments are valid so don’t be discouraged from posting.

Okay sorry, I assumed you had read a bit about them. I am sorry I wasn't aware you knew very little about them and it was just a general impression

Yes amongst the royal family not speaking out seems to be very admired. I remember when Sarah Ferguson was praised for being a "good girl" and not speaking out.
