I am currently reading Russsll Myers Catherine & William. Enjoying it but one thing that stands out is how the Middletons have never put a foot wrong.
Carole was not from an aristocratic background nor was Michael but they raised their kids not to put a step wrong. Kate also had embarrassing family members (Uncle Gary) but she still invited him to the wedding which was the right thing to do & it nipped the media scandal in the bud & took the wind out of any sails.. Meghan invited none of her extended family or her dad & it caused massive media speculation.
Kate was born for royal life & is a natural. Very proud of our future queen. Her parents did an amazing job.

Why does everyone say that she’s lazy?

It’s the script.

Even when she was having cancer treatment this jibe was trotted out.

op how come H&M "selling out your whole family"
it wrong , but when "poor" Mr Markle does it he gets your sympathy......???

Because they initially cut Mr Markle off for selling photos of himself getting fitted for a suit for the ham wedding..
It's the hypocrisy & irony that afterwards they do the exact same as Mr Markle peddling their dirty laundry for millions while Prince Philip was dying & then expect a reconciliation with the royals yet accepting no olive branch from Mr Markle!

Some might say that Meghan DID break the cycle by noticing an environment that was toxic for her, and using her adult autonomy to remove herself from it.

Maybe therapy did work.

An environment she couldn’t completely control. M likes to be in control.

I don’t think anything has worked out for her - and unfortunately we’ve got her back on Salty Island, desperate for royal adjacency.

Groan, yawn.

They cut Thomas Markle out long before the wedding.
Harry had never bothered to go to meet him before they got engaged which I think is rather odd in their ((Harry) circle.
It wasn't as if Harry didn’t have the price of the airfare over to the States or had to save up for it.

Banjas · 21/09/2026 18:42

They were dating for approximately 16 months before getting engaged.
I know M had been married before and we have moved on from a groom asking permission of his soon to be fil to propose to his intended fiancée but still. 16 months is a long time not to bother meeting your fil.

Charles Spencer has just been talking on a tv interview how when Diana joined the royal family, they insisted that she could no longer see her family doctor whom she trusted and knew from birth and that led her to be very exposed when she succumbed to an ED.

He also said that back then, the RF insisted that anyone marrying in, had to spend every Christmas at Sandringham with the RF no exceptions. (Well done to Catherine for having the strength to oppose that one.)

Neither of these examples are anything to do with state protocol they are just ridiculously controlling for the sake of it and they sound similar to the things that happened to Meghan. No wonder people who are used to their independence have difficulty joining “The Firm”.

The Christmas thing I have experience of and I’m not without sympathy there. My ex’s mother was the same. It went down like a lead balloon when I rebelled after a few years. Was it controlling? Yes. But at the same time, she had a large house and wanted her kids there and for years they’d always wanted to be there. So her son ended up going home on his own.

The doctor thing? Di should have insisted that she carry on seeing her doctor or that he got taken onto the RF payroll. I wonder if it was because it would be difficult to keep her records private?

She would have been aware that she was entering the firm (she certainly wasn’t a stranger to it) and that some things would be expected. But she was a grown woman and could have negotiated.

Catherine as you say seems to have managed it well enough.

I don’t know that I would have had the strength to negotiate with The Firm at 19.

ThrwhelsOntHEbuzgoroundandrund · 21/09/2026 20:25

I suppose it very much depends on the 19 year old 🤷🏽

That said, I was always of the impression that she was a lot steelier and wilier than some thought.

Catherine had no problem diplomatically negotiating to suit her family eg Sandringham at Christmas.

I've read that she is not in the UK but left last Wednesday.

She had the benefit of three things Diana didn’t have -

The confidence of being ten years older by the time she married

A very supportive spouse who was prepared to put hi foot down and put her first

The benefit of hindsight - no one wanted to create another unhappy future Queen.

Where were the Markles? Where was Doria's side? Why were they excluded? Why were her half brother, half sister & dad not at the wedding? Why did Harry not meet her dad in the lead up to the wedding?
Kate has Uncle Gary in the background but she still invited him!

Oh dear, the Daily Mail. Bless your soul🤣🤣

Charles Spencer has said a lot of things in recent weeks that might be considerd in the 'recollections may vary' category.

Such a coincidence that Ham land in the UK the month the book is released! What timing!

Meghan said herself on her netflix documentary that she didn't invite her family (including Doria's black family) because the palace forced her to do so. You believe that? Charles arranged a whole black choir for their wedding. They invited black american bishop for the wedding. Charles took Doria's hand after the wedding. Charles walked meghan down the isle. The palace would more than happy to invited as many black family members as possible if it's on them to decide. All the headlines would be "BRF is now become inclusive and progressive". It's Meghan that didn't want to invite her own family. Catherine invited her problematic uncle. She even invited her postman! BP never had problem with inviting the commoner family member. So that's one of the most easiest lie to debunk.

Yep! There could not be enough done to be inclusive of her. Exactly en Catherine invited Uncle Gary who was & still is a very controversial figure! Catherine invited all of Bucklebury Village!
What skeletons was Meghan trying to keep in the closet by not having anyone except her mother at the wedding, a huge wedding where numbers were not curtailed especially for family.
Why had Harry not met her father & still hasn't?
Surely these actions must have raised serious red flags for the royal family?
