Listening to Robert Hardman. He claimed that HAM had contacted high profile charities and hospitals announcing they would be visiting (no invitation btw). These charities/ hospital boards contacted palace for clarification.

Clearly, they were setting up a rival court in UK

Yes, I think that that's exactly what they were doing, and Charles had no choice but to draw a line in the sand.

They thought that, having failed in California, they could just waltz back in to England and start up again where they left off 7 years ago. 'Charity' visits with people calling them Your Royal Highness, full security, cheering crowds, official press pack.

Any of us could have told them that that was never going to happen, even before Charles' letter. But the letter does make it crystal clear. Any organisation which hosts them needs to understand that they are dealing with two ordinary citizens. If they don't, then they're going against the explicit wishes of the King himself. Not that they're going to be hauled off to the Tower or anything, but I don't think any British organisation of any note would want to fall foul of the King. So this really has put a spanner in the faux royal works.

I'm not convinced that OW, Ellen, or NF would find enough of value second time around. OW and NF in particular might not be happy from the first go round IYSWIM. They might have more appeal from a small podcaster, but I doubt that would satisfy HAM's egos.

I think it comes back to the point that's been mentioned on here many times over the years: neither of them have any real passions.

They perform having passions, but it's not convincing. Camilla does her literacy thing and is clearly an avid reader on a mission. Charles is into the environment, helping disadvantaged young people, nurturing traditional arts and crafts etc.

But H & M? I think that's a bigger problem than they realise. Their shallowness and emptiness as individuals may not have mattered once, but it's showing up now and it's an obstacle for them.

(And I don't count Meghan's lifestyle/food shows ....they are ridiculous.)

No, Jeff!

Even though I know now (because you admitted it) that it's just a username, I do get a small thrill when I see your posts! I think it was that bare-chested scene in Jurassic Park.

They’re delicious. You eat them frozen and It’s difficult to explain what it does to the taste and texture.

Re size 8. My feet were once a size 8 for a few months but it’s the only thing about me that ever was.

I think we are communicating à la Sussex V BP. I think you mean actual Mars Bars that are frozen? Whereas I am talking about the actual ice cream bars that have a layer of caramel and then are lovingly wrapped in an enrobement of chocolate. If I let these defrost and turn into ecoli soup then I would definitely drop half a stone.

Yes, also with Camilla and DV, and Sophie highlighting women and girls who are victims of sexual violence eg in Sudan.
Genuine commitments, not click driven.

True, but when that's done, what next?

As Ever on QVC. A lovely range of timeless jewelry based on the Crown Jewels will be in development now and will be sold by Ham in the style of Bridget Jones’ mum and her interestingly orange partner.

I'd say they might homeschool them. They probably don't have their school bits and bobs as Meg was too scared to go shopping

Does Amazon not deliver to their bit of the Cotswolds then? 😃

That's a really relevant point - yes, what is the role of non-working royals in hospitals etc, uninvited? None!

It does rather take away from H & M the 'license' to make their appearances at the site of disasters, doesn't it? If they're not working royals, then what is the meaning of them turning up? It can only be self-serving, and would be exposed as such.

There are only 2 valid reasons for people visiting hospitals/disaster sites

  • if you're an official personage, royal or a government minister, to learn and to pay respect on behalf of us all
  • to actually give practical help

Anything else is self-promoting disaster tourism and virtue-signalling.

This is really clearly stated and I wish was put out in some of the media coverage of all 'celebrity' appearances where they are using others suffering for their own gain.

A bit like the clear reasoning I felt was missing from the Brexit debate (but that's another matter entrily)

Is it too late after 750 + posts to say thank you for the new thread? Real life has been getting in the way of MN recently but I’m enjoying the delicious foot stamping in response to the get back in yer box statement. It’s too entertaining to give up.

Incidentally, I have at times used a password structure of the colour of your knickers, last food you ate and emotion about your last text or email. There is however only so many times I can use whitechocolateeyeroll.

Anyway, as a rule follower, I promise not to use any unnecessary salutations when we are joined by the now private citizen ChampagneNothingMeltdown.

eta 750+ posts should have been 900 + I’ve only just got in in time. Sorry Jeff.

Edited

Welcome Clive! 👋 , it’s never too late!

I completely agree with this and I think it ties in to my earlier question about where their income
stream will come from. I understand, as pp said, that expense paid charity appearances will generate publicity for them, but what will that publicity then do to help them sustain their lifestyle? It seems to be publicity for publicity’s sake. Once again they have no end goal in mind other than the abstract of “get money”. They are not prepared to knuckle down and put in the hard work to create something lasting, let alone their lack of staying power. With Meghan’s lifestyle bollocks, I suspect she thought it would be an easy way to generate income. She gave no thought to supply chains, delivering products, customer service etc. This is typical of both of them. Grandiose ideas but nothing to back them up

typos. Autocorrect doesn’t seem to think “no” is a word. Keeps adding a”t” 🙄

WillysExtraSausage · 09/09/2026 10:55

Also on a more serious note. Does H actually like children? All that touching, prodding and “teasing”. There is no way I’d want him around a child of mine in hospital.

DaisyDooley · 09/09/2026 10:57

Mylovelygreendress · 09/09/2026 09:42

Glad you mentioned Australia ; was there much said about M’s “ Girlie weekend”?

That also didnt sell out.
.There was a photograph of the stage (I think when Meghan was speaking) which was taken from the side/back of the room. There were empty tables, half filled tables and Harry plus two other men were there filling up seats -odd when it was advertised as a ‘womens’ event.

Any charities here would be utterly MAD to take them on. People take their ££ elsewhere now. I don’t give a penny to Oxfam anymore, the RSPCA (because of a local litigation case -many more smaller more deserving animal charities about) and although I covet the Vogue Advent Calendar l wont buy it because of one of the charities it donates calendar proceeds to ((blows a kiss to Lady Susan Hussey)).
If 50% of the people in the UK dislike HaM and their behaviour (and it doesn’t have to be everything, just for example Harry’s constant litigation, or the lies)then you are loosing 50% of the target market for you charity. I cannot see any PR firm advising any charity to touch either of them with a bargepole. People are too canny with their money and are sick of charities spending a fortune on CEOs, expenses ((hello ingriftus)) and utter waste.
I just don’t know what they think their ‘work’ involves. They need to work to earn money to pay their bloody bills .

Beautifully put, CoffeeCantata, and it reminds me of the point that, despite her many attempts to align herself with Diana, I don't think Meghan's ever done the sitting beside a hospital bed, holding hands with a patient thing?

Perhaps they wouldn't let her in, or maybe prospective patients felt they had problems enough without having to suffer that too?

I hope those contacted tell them NO. I work at a larhe teaching hospital in the midlands & its a total ball ache when VIPs visit (although nice for staff to be recognised). Facillities & domestic staff pulled to spruce the place up - medics called away to meet & greet.
Just who the fuck do these pair think they are? We're run off our feet as it is!

YES. I would tune in for that -but obviously wouldn’t buy anything like the vast majority of viewers I suspect.
