I'm disappearing for a few hours to watch King Harald's funeral in Oslo . . . .

If only they'd invited HaMz.....

MissMoneyFairy · 09/09/2026 10:03

Everyone knows they are members of the royal family, even though they mocked and despise it and call it The Institution, they are both very insecure, Aren't their children Prince and Princess? We don't know what school they go to but maybe home schooling will be their choice.

JoanChitty · 09/09/2026 10:05

I hope they watch the funeral so they can see how WORKING royal behave with dignity and decorum, that is not sticking their tongues out or holding hands.

MyDogClive · 09/09/2026 10:06

Is it too late after 750 + posts to say thank you for the new thread? Real life has been getting in the way of MN recently but I’m enjoying the delicious foot stamping in response to the get back in yer box statement. It’s too entertaining to give up.

Incidentally, I have at times used a password structure of the colour of your knickers, last food you ate and emotion about your last text or email. There is however only so many times I can use whitechocolateeyeroll.

Anyway, as a rule follower, I promise not to use any unnecessary salutations when we are joined by the now private citizen ChampagneNothingMeltdown.

eta 750+ posts should have been 900 + I’ve only just got in in time. Sorry Jeff.

Oh my god, yes. All that clutching on to each other.

I agree this is likely. What I don't quite get is what the Sussexes are hoping to achieve through these re engagements with charities. They are not going to be able to earn any money through patronages. The most they can hope for is expenses and a few freebies. Where is their income stream supposed to
come from?

And why the bewildering drama over it all, to the point where many are voicing whether H is cracking up? Has M given him an impossible ultimatum? (‘Full paid-for security or the marriage gets it’?) And/or is it connected to the cancellation of the Diana Awards?

I detect the behaviour of a flailing, panicking man here, being driven to the edge by his own limitations.

Meanwhile, King Charles and his court are still in Scotland. William is off to Norway for the funeral of another King.

Or is he?!?

The ultimate decoy cover - whiney entitled and not too bright, but actually he's the only one with the codes to the nukes and a hotline to Donald "glad he's gone" Trump

A living nightmare! 😨

And it's a spurious argument, isn't it?
Because, as has been said in these threads quite a lot, PMs have access to important state information (like nuclear codes, for one).
Knowing whether someone is circumcised or not, for example, is less important to national security.
Poets Laureate, it could be argued, did a public role. Still different from being PM.

Quite!

It was in The Cut interview where Meghan claimed that her children couldn't ever go to school in the UK because they'd be hounded by paps.
Schooling them in the USA made her "a good parent".

I wouldn’t want to eat a defrosted Mars Bar icecream but the consequences might get me down to a size 8 👍

They’re delicious. You eat them frozen and It’s difficult to explain what it does to the taste and texture.

Re size 8. My feet were once a size 8 for a few months but it’s the only thing about me that ever was.

Re security, former PMs and Harry etc..

I don't know whether H has a case or not (that's for RAVEC) but some of the claims why PMs need CP are a bit out there.

Just like most secure systems "Codes" for nukes (if such exists, even if UK even uses them) will be changed on a regular basis, and I'd put money on that happening certainly when a PM changes. In general the PM will be subject to need to know just like anyone else.

FWIW there will be some junior and senior officers and junior officials round with State Secrets in their heads that are just as important as anything a PM carries around....and they don't get protection.

I suspect the main reason PMs get CP is because of their profile and history, not because of secrets they may know.

Mylovelygreendress · 09/09/2026 10:19

Much as I am enjoying this thread ( some brilliant , witty posters on here!) I am off to do a shift at our local Foodbank . It could be entertaining as there are 3 ladies who come in for a cup of tea and sandwich and they LOVE discussing the Royal Family .
I might just join them for a cuppa !

Yes, it'll be about the latter, but some rogue operatives may take a chance on the former.

SaltyTea · 09/09/2026 10:21

They are gossip fodder over here but not really 'public figures' with a record of sustained activity in the UK. Even Harry has only come over for a handful of events each year. For H&M to expect the public to bankroll their security for a series of new ventures when they did not even extend the Government the courtesy of sharing their plans is stretching Ravec's terms of reference to the very limit.

NCembarassed · 09/09/2026 10:21

Lumpyarse · 09/09/2026 09:24

But their short term strategy is to get back to those heady days of $1million speaker fees, multimillion dollar deals with the likes of NF, Spotify, PRH - they just need a quick dip in the royal glitter and a refresh / reminder of their royal adjacency for the cash to come rolling back in.

However I suspect that once the penny drops that this isnt happening they will revert to type and do a repeat flounce and shit talking escapade - OW, Ellen, NF etc will all come scuttling back for the $$$.

I'm not convinced that OW, Ellen, or NF would find enough of value second time around. OW and NF in particular might not be happy from the first go round IYSWIM. They might have more appeal from a small podcaster, but I doubt that would satisfy HAM's egos.

As the person who was concerned about Blind items at the beginning of the thread I thought I would just clarify.

I wasn't expecting them to be banned, it's a public forum, apologises if that was thought to be my aim. I was mentioning my own discomfort with this type of rumour because I try to be fair and if they were about William or Catherine, both of whom have similar unpleasant rumours spread here fairly regularly, I would be commenting on them. It didn't feel right to me not to at least register my feeling that posting rumours and photos doesn't make them true or even likely to have happened.

There is obviously interest in X posts, probably because so many people don't go there anymore.

thank you for this. It’s how I also felt.

Starryfifty · 09/09/2026 10:32

Listening to Robert Hardman. He claimed that HAM had contacted high profile charities and hospitals announcing they would be visiting (no invitation btw). These charities/ hospital boards contacted palace for clarification.

Clearly, they were setting up a rival court in UK

There have been rumours for years about how much Harry and Meghan take from Invictus for their appearances. Travel, hotels, security, wardrobes....

And the athletes have to fund themselves… Shameful.

CoffeeCantata · 09/09/2026 10:38

Sereine · 09/09/2026 09:21

It's all a bit reminiscent of Diana in later years. There used to be a bit of a dark joke that, whenever there was a major disaster, the RF had to move pretty quickly because Diana would be desperate to get there first, and would make sure there were plenty of photographs of her looking caring at the bedsides of victims in hospital.

That's a really relevant point - yes, what is the role of non-working royals in hospitals etc, uninvited? None!

It does rather take away from H & M the 'license' to make their appearances at the site of disasters, doesn't it? If they're not working royals, then what is the meaning of them turning up? It can only be self-serving, and would be exposed as such.

There are only 2 valid reasons for people visiting hospitals/disaster sites

  • if you're an official personage, royal or a government minister, to learn and to pay respect on behalf of us all
  • to actually give practical help

Anything else is self-promoting disaster tourism and virtue-signalling.
