W&C are the most popular royals and if KC invites them to Sandringham I think the vast majority of the public would applaud them deciding to spend the holiday season with the Middleton clan at Forest lodge (or at C’s parents home) rather than be played by HAM

I could easily be wrong, @BreadInCaptivity, but thought the Waleses decamped to Anmer for Christmas, and that all the Middletons joined them there for a "second Christmas" at W&K's place?

Whatever, at least Anmer is theirs, and no doubt a handy bolthole if things go south at t'big 'ouse up t'road

@BreadInCaptivity

Yes, that is something to be grateful for - W & C do have the Middletons to take refuge with from time to time if M&H manage to wheedle their way into Christmas etc. I bet the Middies have a much more relaxing time than they do at Sandringham!

Indeed - If I was C especially, the one thing I might actually be “grateful” for is a solid reason to turn down Xmas at Sandringham and spend it with my own family for a change.

I think a Xmas at Forest Lodge with the Middleton clan sounds far more appealing/fun/relaxed.

Going back to the Tina Brown article

For the last few years, when he was not engaged as an enthusiastic parent to Archie and Lilibet, the once Tiggerish Harry has been moping around their nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom Montecito mansion, suing tabloids and instructing staff not to share any negative press with Meghan. “But then,” an ex-staffer told me, “a friend or somebody in the kitchen will be like, ‘Oh ma’am, I’m so sorry today. That’s so mean,’ and she’s like, ‘What happened?’ And then it’s a f*ing tornado… She can’t get out of bed.”

The above must be awful for the children to witness, it’s like a tornado and she and can’t get out of bed if she gets what she considers bad press? It’s must be like living on constant eggshells, everyone tiptoeing trying not to upset her, can you imagine what the Palace staff had to put up with and the family?

It would be hilarious if the Sandringham church walk consisted of Charles, H&M and the Hamlets with balaclavas on - the whole rest of the family including Camilla choosing to spend the festive season elsewhere…

I don’t think a divorce nor a divorce book is on the cards. For every thing M knows about Harry, the rf know a thing or two about her. Also M will be strutting round (presumably) the Cotswolds as large as life. She and H don’t do self-reflection or possess any conscience.

You may be right. Happy to stand corrected but I don’t think we will see both HAM and WAC at the walk from church or being in each others orbit at Xmas in any capacity.

I think (not entirely sure) that KC3 keeps up the RF tradition of the main Christmas events (gifts and meal) being on Christmas Eve, and then church on Sunday morning, so William and Catherine do RF until after church and then head to the Middletons.

Edit to add - or back to Anmer, but in any case to see the other side of the family.

I also don’t believe divorce is on the cards and have no wish for that regardless for the children.

I think H is genuinely besotted by her and I think she’s besotted by the royal agency the marriage gives her.

Starryfifty · Today 16:13

Was watching a commentator on GB news. Didn't see his name but something he said made a lot of sense. RF either has to welcome them back as working royals or cut them loose completely ala AMW. Strip titles, etc. otherwise it'll be the gift that keeps on giving.

He adores her but if his title is gone, so is she. Thankfully for his sake, he's too stupid to realise it

I’m not a fan of GB News but they might just be right on this one.

CariadDarling · Today 16:17

I can see KC managing H&M in a similar way as he does AMW.

Private meetings, no photos.

So if it's Sandringham at Christmas it's announced they're invited, but they don't do the public church walk. I think there's a back exit that's not public?

Yes. It’s the one used by AMW.

CoffeeCantata · Today 16:19

I just have to believe that they will not be allowed back into royal life. I don't know any more than pps here just what the deal is - if any! But I think if KC wants to keep William on side he must bar the HAMs from royal life.

To me (and I hope to KC) it's inconceivable that they could ever appear on a balcony, walking to Sandringham church, or in any official capacity whatsoever. Basically, W and C should never have to be anywhere near them. I really feel for them - as a pp said, they've had to stand by and be vilified with no chance for reply, Catherine has been very ill (and endured the hateful 'Where's Kate?' social media campaign from HAM supporters, which the HAMs did absolutely nothing to stop. They have been incredibly resilient and shouldn't be put through any more nonsense.

But I'm braced for the press to start pitting them against each other. Apparently the loathsome Liz Jones wrote a piece saying she was glad HAM were back because she was bored with W and C. I can see a lot more of that rubbish coming because it sells newspapers.

For very obvious security reasons we the general public should not know much about RAVEC and how it works. Thanks to Hs court cases we know a lot more.

RAVEC independently assess on an ongoing basis the security risk and requirements for a wide range of people including current and former PMs, Home Secretaries, RF, Salman Rushdie, Nigel Farage etc.

Any security provided by RAVEC is tax payer funded. Individuals are not permitted to pay for RAVEC security.

Whilst living abroad H is required to give 28 days notice when visiting the UK and will receive a bespoke arrangement, which can be no security. The tax payer will fund any security provided.

For a permanent/longer term arrangement RAVEC would probably want at least 28 days notice. They will assess the security risk, if any. Again any security provided by RAVEC would be tax payer funded.

The fact that H is allegedly still trying to influence RAVEC via the Home Secretary is appalling. The Home Secretary, PM or Head of RAVEC need to have a straight talking conversation with H and close this down.

Poor Anne Widdicombe has just brutally lost her life, RAVEC won’t want that to happen to H or his family.

I trust RAVEC to provide appropriate tax payer funded security to anyone where they identify a risk. That includes H & his family whilst in the UK. The cost is irrelevant.

H & M are always free to pay for private security. That is a private matter.

Yes, I didn't think the Middletons joined the rest of them at Sandringham House itself, bluegreygreen - though who knows when it's William's turn - but that they stayed nearby at Anmer in order for W&K to have a "Middleton do" as well as a "Windsor do"

As said I could easily be wrong, but with the expectation for W&K to attend and the rest of her family being more "portable", it would make sense if they all want to spend the day together

The ruinous cost of US security underlies Harry and Meghan’s return

Xmas will be a disaster. A firm no to the Sandringham walk and Catherine carol service. If KC facilitates this then he's more of an enabler than I thought

Maybe Christmas and other big holidays will be spent in California so they can save face. Of course they’d spin it as it being them spending the holidays abroad as they don’t want to be with the RF but who cares if it means they bugger off for a few weeks.

WTF does that mean?

It means fuck all. I would love someone to say ' what are you trying to say?' I think she doesnt know what to say so just babbles on. Its all a but david brent trying to do management buzzwords.

And if that is her house, why is M clutching a cardboard cup? Is it product placement? she must have been getting ready for filming, not just popped out to the shops. A massive kitchen full of stuff and no cups. A row over the washing up? Harry cant fix the dishwasher? Harry has hidden the mugs for a jolly jape?

No wait. They are already packed up.

But I'm braced for the press to start pitting them against each other. Apparently the loathsome Liz Jones wrote a piece saying she was glad HAM were back because she was bored with W and C. I can see a lot more of that rubbish coming because it sells newspapers.

I saw a clip of Nina Mishkov (?) on GB news gushing about how in love Harry and Meghan are and claiming William and Catherine are not and she says she wants Harry to be King Henry the ninth, the presenter had to step in and say that W&C very much loved one another, so yes I agree, in the media it’s going to be all out war, how many years are we going to have to put up with this? It’s going to be relentless, until William is King anyway.

That is SO depressing. Liz Jones and Nina Mishkov have reputations for being just awful - anything for attention and controversy, and never mind who you hurt to get it. I honestly think those two women are bitter and twisted.

Yes, I'm dismayed at the thought of months, even years of this.

I really hope the soft-minded people with short memories will not rally round them. I cannot bear to see nastiness, spite and lying rewarded.

W & C's courage and resilience is what should be rewarded.

This next comment might seem bonkers, but it's the way I see it: from childhood we hear and eventually read stories about goodies and baddies. We usually want the goodies to prevail and the baddies to be punished. So what goes wrong in some people's minds that they support the HAMs against the people they've been cruel and malicious to? A simple-minded way of putting it, but it just seems so perverse to me.

Is Nina Myscow (?) still around? I'm old enough to remember her being a bitchy TV critic a la Simon Cowell before Simon Cowell was heard of. Not sure we need more of her wisdom. And Liz Jones is an 18 carat idiot.

Agree with all this @Kirschcherries.

Harry, of course, if he is truly moving his family back to the UK, has now placed himself firmly back in the category of 'non-working royal living in the UK', so no longer needs a bespoke arrangement.
