Even they must realise that this decision makes a mockery of their freedom flight (what’s the reverse of one of those by the way?)

An open return?

Bondage bailout?

Servitude sellout?

The meeting at Highgrove was 10th July.

That was at the end of Harry's week in the UK, if I remember correctly, and there had been discussion about not seeing Meghan and the children.
We then had the Highgrove meeting, and later Meghan's photos of the children at Althorp.

AtIusvue · Yesterday 11:30

Also them claiming they have school places organised…..Harry also claimed last time he was staying at Buckingham Palace and that turned out not to be true either.

What they seem to do is put out the wishes to the press and then think these these things will happen for them.

I don’t believe any schools will have been set up as of this moment.

I do know of a private school closing down just before the summer hols…and families having to contact other schools over the holidays- so it can be done. But in that case the parents were so desperate for a place….if wasn’t a case of going to visit the school etc, just can you squeeze in a little one.

That's a good point, I do not believe they visited before term end- this has not been planned and thought out.

If I was a betting person, I would bet the main reason is the results of ANL

I think ANL has accelerated the situation but imho their financial situation has been shaky for a while.

If you consider their estimated outgoings on security, mortgage, staffing and living expenses they could easily be burning through $6m a year or more and have been doing so for over 6 years now.

H has said in the past his inheritances were for his children and let’s assume they are ring fenced in trusts (at least in part) then even when you take into account his earnings from Spare/Chimpo and the now defunct streaming deals, the down payment on Montecito (and potentially Portugal) plus living costs then it’s absolutely conceivable they could have burned through most of that earned income and there’s nothing to replace it given the state of As Ever.

The maths just doesn’t add up. They might have a net worth of $60m or more on paper but you cannot keep spending at the rate they are doing without a secure income stream or their capital will be gone in less than 5 years - and now sooner given the heft of the ANL bill to come (and potentially settlements with Sentable).

People are searching for reasons but frankly the money situation alone is more than enough to explain this u-turn.

Hi everyone. I'm also puzzled at how Harry has managed to outplay Megs to get this outcome. She had it nicely set up with being located in Cali where she'd get the big ten year payout if they divorce after that, plus the kids were domiciled there and Harry couldn't change that without her agreement, which I never thought she'd give. Yet she has now done that, as well as undermined her whole narrative based on never going back to the horrible racist UK.

Presumably going it alone is less appealing for her. But she could make money alone with a deal to tell her full story after a split, and be able to stay in her preferred location too. So something big that she sees value in must be on offer with the return to the UK. I know they can't be doing well financially but is that it? Are they even deeper in the hole than people think? And what's Meghan getting out of it that stopped her saying 'you go home for a bit if you want, my love, but I'll stay here with the kids to keep things stable for them'. 🤔

AtIusvue · Yesterday 11:37

If you look over the last year:

  • massive staff cull in August 25, then again in December 25
  • Archewell Foundation closed December 25 and the long term employee Hames Holt stopped working for them.
  • Netflix pulled out in Sept 25
  • Netflix pulled out of As ever in spring 26
  • No shows/films secured under the first look NF deal
  • No new releases or press of upcoming releases from Archewell Productions- save cookie queens which bombed.
  • In July 26 Harry found out he lost his case and is like to be paying an 8 figure sum just for his part

It disaster after disaster. They are haemorrhaging money.

If they were any way successful in their film production company or As ever….theres no way on earth they would come back here…and so abruptly.

Even if there was a visa issue….why does that mean his whole family have to leave. If it was just money, then they could still sell and live elsewhere in the US.

I think the stress of the world they have created for themselves is too much and everything has come crashing down. I don’t think they are handling this next step as a married couple.

This is why I think the finance issue is serious. As in this is the only option and there is nothing left to pay out in the event of a divorce.

CariadDarling · Yesterday 11:48

@AtIusvue
I believe this is phase one and it’s to get the kids settled here in the UK. Meg couldn’t possibly handle living here….so that will be the excuse when they announce the split. The kids will continue to live here and she will return to the US and marry a rich old guy

I’m one of a not very large group of women who left their countries of birth 50ish years ago to start a new life with a husband in a country/culture that at the times was virtually unknown. Along the way some marriages have broken down but none of the women have ever left their children with their Dad because life here wasn’t to their liking. It’s not been easy for them but they did it because their children were worth the personal sacrifice. If things do go down the divorce route with Harry and Meghan I hope she realises her children are also worth the personal sacrifice.

Starryfifty · Yesterday 11:49

This has been in the pipeline for a while. H wants to be a working royal again. It's that or slither into obscurity like AMW. There will be ongoing rehabilitation by palace and MIGS

Treylime · Yesterday 11:56

Even if they don't get HiHo which it appears they wont, Harry and maybe M will be doing charity visits in a pseudo royal fashion. There will very much be two rival courts or that is how the press is going to portray it. I do feel sorry for W.

thenightsky · Yesterday 11:57

She won't be getting that big 10 year divorce pay out anymore, now he's skint after taking on ridiculous court cases and all the costs that come with losing them.

Starryfifty · Yesterday 11:58

Richard Eden reporting that this has been ongoing for some time. An establishment plot to bring them back into the fold

I’m inclined to agree. Either that, or there is some major story on M pending that’s about to blow her legs off. I rather suspect they will be living apart.

StartupRepair · Yesterday 12:00

I am sure M will find some charities to visit (and merch her clothes). She will just happen to get photographed winsomely at a food bank.
I think day 1 of William,'s reign he will withdraw their titles and offer them a remote cottage.

CariadDarling · Yesterday 12:04

StrawberryWasp · Yesterday 06:52

Why would she agree to it??
I can't understand it.

Also if they didnt tell the king he must be bloody furious. They came to tea, supposedly building bridges, but failed to raise this huge change which would impact the king. And just announced it to the press a week later?
They really don't have a clue on how to build relationships do they?

I suspect the visit to the King was to make it look as if he must have been told about this move on the day in between sips of tea.

They really are very good at subterfuge and underhandedness.

SqueakyDinosaur · Yesterday 12:07

Of course, given Meghan's "lived experience", she may not think that it's especially important for her to be present in her children's lives. After all, Doria wasn't in hers for a long time.

CariadDarling · Yesterday 12:09

AtIusvue · Yesterday 07:01

Also the BBC saying this isn’t permanent?
why uproot your kids like this to put them in a UK school (that Meg previously had said she would never do, because they’d be followed by the paps) to move them again?

BBC:

‘Is this a forever move?
Not at the moment but they are expecting to be in the UK for what has been described to me as "an extended period of time".’

Forces children move all the time as do expat families. It really isn’t such a big deal if you do it well.

I still don't buy what he is selling. There is nothing from the palace to support the narrative of plans to get Harry back as a working royal. The palace don't say much but everything they have said indicates Harry and Meghan have no role in the institution.

Irememberwhenitwasallfieldsroundhere · Yesterday 12:11

If there is a plan from the BRF / MIGs to rehabilitate these two I will be extremely pissed off.

I don't want to pay for them, I shouldn't have to pay for them and I don't think the average UK taxpayer will want to either. I don't want them visiting UK hospitals and using sick children as props. They are, supposedly, private individuals so why the fuck do any of these organisations / institutions indulge them with their pseudo royal visits? It's just obscene, frankly.

Surely they didn't really just blindside Charles and only tell him 3 days ago? If they did, shame on them. Well, shame on them anyway. But hey, they're shameless so I suppose it's to be expected.

Moving those children is really horrible as well. And what about Doria? Bye bye, see ya, wouldn't want to be ya? As with everyone else in Meghan's life.

Anyone who is close to the BRF or William will shun them, quite rightly, as they're untrustworthy, unkind, mean, vile grifters.

I am interested to see how it plays out though! These threads will run and run.

I agree with this. They’ll be literally holding court at Althrop and Meghan will be cultivating a set to garner media attention. Charles Spencer hates the rf so to him this is just perfect.

Yes, feel so sorry for W&K with this thorn in their side. Well, two thorns but also coated with the absolute thickest of rhino hides.

I wonder how many threads we will get through before their return.

How can they be stopped from attending the Sandringham walk about now.

I would be surprised if it’s a case of anyone who wants to turn up for Christmas at Sandringham just turns up. I suspect it’s by invitation and even then people can say no, we have other plans. The POW and his family aren’t there every year.

Was Harry’s wealth ever accessible to Meghan even in a California community property divorce.
i would imagine it was tied up in trusts.
Even without other difficulties there may have been no potential big pay out.

i agree 100% with you both re the HAMlets. I think HAM are playing the long game to get the littlies accepted into the RF so, as adults, there'll be more opportunities for them. Perhaps not as working royals but certainly with business introductions and balcony scenes. It's who you know, you know! Living in California...well, no chance of being snapped with royal rellies there.
