Of course, given Meghan's "lived experience", she may not think that it's especially important for her to be present in her children's lives. After all, Doria wasn't in hers for a long time.

True

Her childhood was with her father while her mum travelled.

There’s no way Meghan could tolerate living in the UK.

Justdancevance · Yesterday 12:19

Meghan’s struggles to keep friendships and will end up surrounded by z listers as thirsty as attention for herself.

Harry and Meghan want soap opera drama so serious people will run for the hills

@CariadDarling is correct - I moved a lot as a child.

If anything, it strengthened the bonds between the immediate nuclear family.

Your response comes over as being unduly abrupt.

Behave yourself. I’m as entitled to my opinion just as much as you are.

I also wonder what friends Harry has left.

If we think about just the past few years:

Peter Phillips's wedding, 2026, NFI
Charles & Camilla's visit to the USA, 2026, NFI nor even mentioned
Duchess of Kent's funeral, 2025, didn't go
Duke of Westminster's wedding, 2024 NFI
Christmas, Easter, carol services, NFI

Anyone who was part of their childhood group, Thomas Van Straubenzee, the Van Cutems and the like will be loyal to William you'd have thought.

Anyone who is anyone, the Beckhams, Tom Cruise, Taylor Swift, Stella McCartney, will be loyal to William.

Coming back to the UK doesn't guarantee them any entry into British upper class life, it doesn't work like that. The ultra posh/ UHNW people value discretion and loyalty and HaM aren't discreet or loyal, in fact, they're the reverse.

And a few of them live in the Cotswolds, I can't see any of them inviting HaM to dinner or kitchen sups.

Thank you. I was able to say what I did because of life experience.

Thank you for the new thread @BigWillyLittleTodger, there are too many others, I can’t keep up.

I wonder if Harry’s VISA did play a part?

Whatever the reason, they are a couple of twerps. I hope they don’t butter up KC and milk him. I know it’s hard saying no to your children but in these circumstances he really must. I feel sorry for QC, William and Catherine. It’s going to be an interesting Christmas for the royals this year 🥴

bluegreygreen · Yesterday 12:35

I've been looking back at some of the posts on the 'Reconciliation' threads from last year.

One of the possibilities discussed was Harry returning to the UK because of mental health issues, living somewhere in the country and gradually being rehabilitated on the edges of the family over a few years ...

The meeting at Highgrove was 10th July.

That was at the end of Harry's week in the UK, if I remember correctly, and there had been discussion about not seeing Meghan and the children.
We then had the Highgrove meeting, and later Meghan's photos of the children at Althorp.

My DS (state school) broke up on 9th July (we do break up early here), but the local private school had already broken up by then. Private schools usually have longer holidays, as their school days are longer. I don’t know, I just think visiting in July is cutting it fine. I don’t think the schools were sorted until last minute.com as per everything else they do. And I'm not sure they would even bother to take the children to visit unfortunately. They would just be looking at status. This isn’t a move that is necessitated by a change of job or posting. This is knee jerk imo. Again as per usual

People will be wary, in case what is said in close quarters, is leaked in a book or a magazine…

MaturingCheeseball · Yesterday 12:37

The Prodigal Son always was my worst story. So flippin’ unfair! I hope the fatted calf will be very much running free around the field for a long time to come and not imminently on the Highgrove spit.

You are welcome @Dontevenlookatme there are way too many threads on this subject at the minute I can’t keep up either so I’m generally sticking to this ongoing thread.

Well that was a surprise they are moving back to the U.K.

That has come out of the blue, apparently it is v soon too.

What’s the reason behind it?

Empty pockets is my guess and proximity to Daddy Warbucks to fill them up again.

Very well but at least try and make sense

Treylime · Yesterday 12:40

I do think KCs state visit to the US really shook them up. From memory Camilla's son in law and great nephew were invited to the state banquet. H & M were not invited to any of the events or even mentioned. A huge snub to them which they probably weren't expecting.

Someone on reddit suggested that the financials around Archewell may be an issue.

The Hamlets have left a very sheltered life. I hope they can adjust to the culture changes.

I would offer HAM a house next to Andrew 😁. Then if I were William, I'd stay away from Sandringham until I was king and could evict William likes the Scilly islands. He can take the family there for Christmas instead of Sandringham. Less stress for his family.

Yes! Contrary to the claims levied at us regulars we do actually have lives outside this board!

Unfortunately, Anmer Hall is on the Sandringham estate and is very much beloved of the Waleses! Also, the reports so far state that Meghan and Harry are going to live in a private house. Not a crown property

Was Harry’s wealth ever accessible to Meghan even in a California community property divorce.
i would imagine it was tied up in trusts.
Even without other difficulties there may have been no potential big pay out.

This is unashamedly googled.
Diana apparently got £17m (and an apartment in KP) upon her divorce. In today's money google tells me that is £43m. Her husband , though, was PoW and she was the mother of the next King. This is a different situation to (potentially) M's.
SF , perhaps a better comparison ( younger brother's wife) , only got £3m , a house and I think some trusts for the daughters. Again a little google tells me that's £7.5m in today's money.

H can probably afford the second but I doubt the first. And even if he could how long is a "mere" £43m going to last M ?

I'm not saying they are going to divorce - I still hope ( maybe sometimes against hope) they are still happy together , for their whole family's sake - it's just to say I agree with @ChimneyPot without some Bank ex machina I don't see divorce being the payout of M's dreams. I am unacquainted with Californian divorce law. Actually, I'm unacquainted with UK divorce law and thankful to be so.

For the avoidance of doubt , for the likes of me all these numbers are enormous. I'm using "mere" and "only" in context. 😊

There must be huge money issues but I’m also getting vibes that this is the end for Harry and Meg.

She will hate it here, like last time- (to the point she didn’t want to live anymore) and now he’s bringing her back to that? I can see a divorce in the near future…it’s clear the kids will remain here

Edited

I don't believe Meghan is coming back (I seriously doubt she was even at the Highgrove Tea Party despite reports that she was, and will only believe it if I see photographic evidence - and not one of her photo-shop efforts). Harry's back bringing the kids with him and there's a separation going on. She might come here for a month, if that, and then (God willing) sod off back to California for good. It's all smoke and mirrors as usual but either way Meghan is out and Harry's back.

It’s now being reported that the PM has said he wishes H&M well on their return to the UK, but that their security is a private matter. So no special protection

SqueakyDinosaur · Yesterday 12:50

In some ways it would make far more sense for them to be accommodated somewhere within the royal secure cordon, because then taxpayers aren't on the hook for 24/7 security, which we might otherwise be. I had some sympathy for H when he said that he had effectively inherited the security threat because of who he was, and I suspect there will have to be security measures put in place at public expense.
